We had to get just passed hagerstown before we really started seeing snow accumulating. Here in hancock, they never really had any rain. It was snow from the outset. It is about four to five inches. I have seen cars with more on top than that. Packing snow, stuck to everything, stuck to the trees. That is what makes it so pretty. Take a look out onto main street. They are down to their payment bare pavement because they have been working all day long to get that progress. On the main roads, i70. We have seen conditions very throughout the day. From slushy to clear to snowcovered. There was at one point a shutdown of i70. I want to show you one more thing. It is a beautiful site. That bridge, absolutely gorgeous. One of our producers shot this video this morning in alexandria, not far from the mark center. Not much was sticking inside the beltway today. In linden, virginia, a completely different story tonight. It is certainly gorgeous out here and beautiful as you can see, around may, with all these trees and branches covered in white. It has been dicey. This road was an absolute disaster earlier in the day. It is a fairly welltraveled road between warring county and the Fauquier County line. There is a lot more ice. There is a lot more snow. These folks are stopping on the side of the road. Im going to show you the problem. , cars were ago crashing left and right. This is a mercedes that flipped over, when off the roadway, flipped over. Fortunately, no serious injuries. There were a couple more that went off the roadway. We talked about tow Truck Drivers here in the area and Law Enforcement that had to shut down this road for a certain period of time so they could get the sultan plows up here. The snow came down very fast. The truck and plows up here, things were moving better. Coming up at 5 00, we will show you even more damage. Wow. Dramatic indeed. Interesting. The storm is not just hitting here, it is stretching all the way up the eastern seaboard into new england. That left plenty of Flights Canceled or delayed today. A little further north and west, a lot more snow. At this hour, the snow is pushing eastward. This is the bottom end of the storm. We are analyzing a lot of rain. Wet snowd be sleet or or heavy rain. This is all snow coming to the mature area. Stripes of blue showing heavier elements. Most temperatures are above freezing. Most of it should melt in the metro area. This is the whole storm. Right at the southern edge, pushing the heavy snow inland and heavy rain along the coast. That will continue through the evening hours. Steve rudin with us now to share some great pictures. Unraveled and investors lost millions. This is thomas evans, an official say this is what he promised his wealthy investors they were buying into. It was buying Distressed Properties and he was going to renovate the units, have them leased, and then sell the property at some point at a profit for his investors. Investors thought they were buying into newly renovated apartments with pools and sculpted gardens and the promise of a handsome return once they sold. While recruiting investors, evans was also taking out Construction Loans to begin renovations, but the project soon hit a snag. At some point he started realizing he was not going to be ate to run these apartments enough of an income to support his debt. Instead of telling investors, Authorities Say he chose to falsify documents and his investors if investors asked questions, he simply lied. Werent reallys sure what was going on, so they went to visit the properties and found that the properties were in a horrible state of disrepair. The renovations that he promised , andwere not being done there was no possible way that he was getting the occupancy rates that he was telling them he was getting. In the end, more than 50 victims lost millions of dollars when the properties went into foreclosure. Evans pleaded guilty to charges in the case. He was sentenced to 14 years in prison and ordered to pay 12 million in restitution back to those investors. The redskins have their fair share of problems this season. Putting it lightly. Last night i switched my flight to an earlier flight to try to avoid this weather problem. That is good news. But its very heavy out here, and we are getting very strong rain. As we get closer to delaware, we were seeing very heavy snow, big snowflakes coming down. We got down around the perryville area and it started to turn to rain. Are cautious. As you can see, in both directions going 95 south where we are going in on the opposite side going northbound, the traffic is heavy. You get the feel of the motion to the east and northeast. The tail end of the storm is moving up the coast. Rian across the bay rain across the bay. Snow to the west, and still some moderate bending of snow, which often happens right near the edge. Another hour or so, these heavier bands coming through. With temperatures above freezing, a lot of it will melt on contact. A couple of exceptions, as the snow falls, it cools the air. As soon as the snow stops at dulles, the temperature will bump up a degree or two. Once the storm is out of here, just about everybody will drop below freezing. Our concern will be a brief freeze, icy spots where we have slush and mush in standing water. This is projected overnight lows, frederick two men. Footie nine entries. 32 downtown. Icy spots a definite concern as you head out tomorrow morning. The whole package with the storm, the storm will move just to the oust east of the delmar peninsula. For the moment in the metro area, temperatures above freezing so even if it snows heavily, is going to melt. Storm center is out along here. That is moving northeast. The whole kit and caboodle will get out of here tonight. As we go overnight, the temperatures in the mid 30s now are going to drop below freezing. 32 downtown. Icy patches become a clear and present hazard late tonight overnight or early tomorrow morning. As far as the specifics, we wl go with light northwesterly winds in the forecast. 33 degrees.
