Fire officials believe this wasnt was an arson, and although all because of an interview that abc 7 conducted with a man who would only give his first name. He said his name is carlos. My photographer was gathering video of the smoke pouring from this twostory home when carlos approached him and repeatedly said, i set it on fire. When asked why, he explained he had grown tired of what he called the deplorable living conditions, so in an attempt to gain the attention of police and the media, carlos claimed he poured gasoline on the floor, lit the fire, and then went to a nearby store to buy a beverage. Carlos then turned himself into rockville officers. Take a look at their faces. They were stunned by this unsolicited confession. Information got about a suspension from the d. C. Board of nurses. In december 2013, he is accused of inappropriately touching a woman at Washington Hospital center in northwest d. C. Is accused later, he of touching a female patient at George Washington University Hospital in northwest d. C. Twice, sexually assaulting the woman, according to this. 2014, he is accused of touching a woman inappropriately the billy Health Center in billy, maryland. Bowie, maryland. A woman at d. C. United Medical Center said he inappropriately touched her. We went to his house and spoke to a neighbor. Here is what he had to say. Police in new york have arrested a suspect who shoved a stranger right off a subway platform to his death. The man lasted night in the bronx. He is now facing a seconddegree murder charge in the death of a 61yearold man. Sunday he pushed that many front of a moving train. He is also wanted in connection with another subway shoving incident earlier this month. Is expected obama to announce executive orders on immigration tomorrow night in a primetime address. People familiar with the president s proposal say the reaction could seal immigrants from the partition and secure the work permits deportation and secure them work permits. President obama signed a bill today that will revamp aid. It requires providers to conduct criminal background checks on their workers and gives low income parents vouchers to help them pay for daycare costs at a providers home or at centers. To theitors Smithsonians National museum of Natural History can see the fossils of the giants in person at a new exhibit called the last american dinosaurs, discovering a lost world. We are looking at one place ago,ime, 56 million years before the asteroid hit and spelled the doom of the dinosaurs. The dinosaurs are the rock stars of the exhibit. The smithsonian wants visitors to see it as one small part of a larger ecosystem. They were eating a huge amount of vegetation every day. They would have a profound impact on the environment. The smithsonian believes this exhibit wont disappoint. Paleontologists say these dinosaurs roamed what is now montana and wyoming in the united states. We will find out in your sevenday, coming up. A fiveyearold is recovering after being hit by a car in the district. As Jeanette Reyes reports tonight, neighbors say it is a dangerous intersection. That fiveyearold boy is in the hospital right now, recovering from his injuries after being hit by a car early this morning. It happened right along this crosswalk early today. A witness told abc 7 that the boy was lying on the ground, conscious, and crying. His father quickly ran out to help his son. Others tried to keep the boy still while help arrived. Mpd says the driver did remain on scene is all of this happen. This accident happened around 8 30 this morning, a busy time with a lot of people, especially children heading out. As soon as we arrived on scene, we heard from quite a few angry neighbors who say this is an ongoing problem. An elderly woman was hit along the crosswalk a few months ago. Residents telling drivers here, do not stop for pedestrians. Normally cars keep going by you in the crosswalk. They dont stop right there. Parents need to step up to the plate. Kids cannot escort kids because they are children themselves. You see that pedestrian stop sign and little further down. Residents tell us there was one right here, but a car ended up hitting that. The federal government now wants to expand the recall of vehicles with those exploding airbags. Currently about 8 million u. S. Vehicles have been affected. This recall involves airbags made by japanese manufacturer takata. Karen travers has more on this impact. It is news that could affect millions of drivers. The federal government said it wants a nationwide recall of airbags made by takata. That is because when the airbag [indiscernible] sharpnelhey can send through the bag shrapnel through the bag. Up until now, there was a limited recall, focused on hot, humid parts of the u. S. The moisture may be to blame for changing the chemicals in making the explosions were powerful, and fragmenting the metal canisters. But then there was an august incident in north carolina. Now the government says takata needs to replace all of the affected driverside airbags across the nation. Takata says it is committed to addressing all safety issues promptly, but claims their tests outside humid areas have not shown problems. The company also said it is concerned that a National Recall could potentially diverse replacing airbags from where they are needing needed. The government is unclear exactly how many vehicles would be affected. The expanded recall what expand to ford, honda, chrysler, and odelsmostly mdoels m 2008 and earlier. Thats a major problem.
