The store known as taboois closing its doors. News tens jack kuenzie has been following the story since taboo opened more than four years ago. Hes here with the latest. Juditaboo opened a few weeks before christmas 2011 and almost immediately came under fire from city leaders. They said an adult business in that location, devinewould be a magnet for crime and a drag on surrounding commercial and residential areas. City Council Action and litigation quickly followed. About two years ago, a suit filed by owner jeff white went before a federal judgewith his attorney accusing the city of shifting, arbitrary tactics against a business selling legal products protected by the first amendment. The city responded in part by providing white with a list of 45 other sites where he could relocate. None of them, said tabooeither suitable or available. Then last month, federal judge terry wooten ruled against taboo. And last friday, a City Attorney notified the business it was violating zoning rules and had until february 5th to close down. A confirmed case in texas was spread through sexual transmission. And there are more concerns over possible birth defects. Meaghan norman has more on the zika virus. Dawndy, right now there are no confirmed cases of the zika virus in South Carolina. Officials with dhec tell me they have sent four samples to the cdc for testing. Others are pending. But Georgia Health officials just reported its first case of the zika virus today of someone who recently traveled to colombia. The virus has been confirmed in more than two dozen countries, mostly in south american and the caribbean. The cdc has issued a travel advisory to dozens of those countries. The virus is primarily spread through mosquitos. But yesterday, texas had its first confirmed case spread through sexual contact with someone who had traveled to venezuela. Dr. Samantha morton an obgyn at carolina womens physicians at Lexington Medical Center says the virus can be spread through different bodily fluids but there have also been concerns of possible birth defects related to the virus. Dr. Morton says the concerns are valid but no cases have been documented. This is relatively new so there havent been any cases yet of any birth defects being associated with the zika virus being transmitted through sexual contact this is obviously something the cdc is looking extensively at including departments in the countries that are having more problems with the infection rate but it is something we need to look out for now as other data comes out. According to the cdc the most common symptoms of the virus are fever, joint pain, rash, red eyes. For those who get sick, the illness is usually mild.
