If i step out of the way, you can see police have route 18 blocked off here along the abington line, and that goes all the way into weymouth. So theyre directing traffic with a detour around route 58, but theyre telling people to stay away from this area. Theyre saying route 18 will be blocked off at least until 10 00 a. M. Now, this all began, according to Weymouth Police, they say they were chasing a vehicle. We dont know why they were trying to stop that driver. The car, though, did not stop, eventually crashed into a utility pole. You can see pictures from the scene. The car flipped over, completely smashed, taking out those utility poles and then in the several more. Thats what knocked out power to the area. Crews were here earlier trying to restore those utility poles, but again just taking a live look here along route 18 in abington, Abington Police and Weymouth Police have this stretch of route 18 shut down at for now, thats the latest live in abington, Nicole Oliverio, 7news today in new england. Sarah also breaking this morning, part of route 28 in quincy is shut down right now after a deadly car crash. Two people were killed and another hurt when a car rolled over and burst into flames. The investigation just getting under way because they have been fighting this fire all night, making sure all hot spots are out. The fire was concentrated on the second floor of this twofamily home here in fitchburg. Video from overnight, firefighters greeted by some intense flames coming out of those secondfloor windows when they arrived, and what the fire chief tells us is that when firefighters went inside, they found one man near the second floor stairs. They helped him out. He was rushed to the hospitals. They found another person near a that person they brought out, had to perform c. P. R. On, that person also rushed to the hospital. But then fire crews say they did find a third victim inside the home, somebody who did not make it out, so theyve confirmed that one person died in this fire last night. These two other victims were rushed to the hospital. No update on their condition, but the fire chief did say that one person was conscious when they were loaded into the ambulance and the other person, they were performing c. P. R. On. They said this house was really difficult to fight this fire and search for these victims because theres a lot of small rooms up on that second floor, making it a little bit difficult to navigate. So that was something the Fire Department was up against. But now that the fire is out, they can concentrate on determining a cause. The fire chief says at this point they believe it started on the second floor, but what actually started it is still under investigation. Weymouth police did confirm they were chasing a car before it crashed. Now, power crews have been here at the scene trying to restore power. We were told about 200 people still without power this morning. What we dont know is what initially led to the chase. They managed to pull two people out alive, but a third person did not make it. 7s victoria warren live on the happened. Vicki . Victoria well, the Fire Department still trying to piece all of that together, but they do know that these people were trapped on the second floor of this home that you see here behind me, fitchburg this morning. It was really an intense situation, when they first arrived last night. There were flames that were shooting out of the secondfloor windows near the back of the home. The fire chief says that when the firefighters went inside, first they found one man who was they brought that man outside, then they say they found another victim near the windows in the back of the house. They brought that person outside. Those two people were rushed to the hospital. But the chief says they did find a third victim that did not make it out in time. The chief says that the man that they pulled out by the stairs was conscious when they put that person in the ambulance, and they say the other person they pulled out, they were actually performing c. P. R. On. The chief says one thing that made it tricky with this house is that its very compartmentalized on the second floor, a lot of small room, so it was difficult for firefighters to navigate. Now that the fire is out. Theyll move to the next step of investigating this fire to try and figure out the cause. But again, we have one person dead, two others in the hospital, no updates this morning on the condition of those two that remain in the hospital. Then midafternoon could even have heavier snow squalls and snow showers working in with the instability of the daytime summer pattern where you get these popup showers to form. Instead of raindrops were dealing with snowflakes. Any brief burst of heavier snow could drop a coating to an inch of snow. Well contend with that temperatures this afternoon rebounding into the lower to middle 30s. Temperatures above the freezing mark. Even that said, you get a heavier snow squall, and the temperature goes near freezing and you can get a couple slick spots on the roadways. So well watch that as it goes through the afternoon. Were keeping a close eye on this accident. This is a rolledover vehicle. You can see it right there. And this is route 1 northbound in saugus. So you can see one lane is getting by. It does look like the two right lanes are blocked there. And then southbound heading into boston on route 1, you can see some slowing here as people are kind of looking over at whats going on here. Take a look at the maps now. And you can see, again, this is just before lynnfeld parkway. Also still keeping an eye on this accident, this is 128 southbound at route 93. This is in reading. And this has the left lane block ed. We also have an accident in andover on 495 southbound. Thats not showing up on my screen. Another one on 93 southbound in medford. Keep those two incidents in mind if youre headed out this morning, as well. From braintree into boston expressway northbound, 32 minutes. Thats a slow drive. South of town, route 18, still closed in both directions in abington because of an earlier accident. The pike no major delays from framingham into boston. So thats good news. Lets take a look at those drive times if youre getting ready to head out the door this morning. 20 minutes on the expressway from braintree to boston. Into town on the pike, 12 minutes. 93 southbound, 128 to the zakim bridge, 12 minutes, as well. If youre taking the t, we have minor delays on the on line, back to you, guys. Sarah very busy morning here. We have breaking news to passes along about a deadly fire up in fitchburg. Fire crews raced to rescue three burning home. They did manage to pull two people out alive, but sadly a third person did not survive. Sarah 7s victoria warren live on the scene with more on what happened. Vicki . Victoria the firemen were just leaving the scene here a few minutes ago. People were trapped on the second floor of this home in fitchburg when the fire broke out. The fished firtd arrived and flames were shooting out of the second story windows. Firefighters rushed in. They found one man trapped near the stairs. They found another person trapped near the back of the house near the windows. They were able to bring that person out. Thats when they discovered the third victim, somebody who did not make it out of this house in time. The fire chief says those two other people were rushed to the hospital. One of them was conscious, the other person, paramedics were performing c. P. R. On that individual. So its unknown what their condition is at this time. This is a really tough fire for firefighters who say there are a lot of small rooms in that second floor. Firefighters to navigate through all of that. They will now start their investigation. Nicole sarah, it will be at least three more hours before route 18 opens. Police diverting traffic here at oak street and then reopening at pond street. So cars slow ride this morning, if this is your normal commute, youre being diverted on the route 58. All of this after a Police Chase Led to a crash. Now, the chase started in weymouth, and all we know is that police were trying to pull over a car that wouldnt stop. Its believed that the car may have been stolen. Eventually, though, that car damage to that vehicle. The two people inside had to be taken to the hospital. Both the driver and the passenger, and when that car crashed, it actually knocked out a utility pole, causing a Chain Reaction at the height were without power. Now that number is down to less than 200. Its believed that the driver is going to be facing charges once hes released from the hospital. Nicole christa, it started with that chase in weymouth, ended in abington and resulted in closing a good chunk of route 18 during the morning commute. You can see police still have the area blocked off in abington at oak street. Theyre diverting traffic on the 58 before you can get back on the route 18 in weymouth. An you can see its definitely slowing down traffic as everyone is trying to get to work this morning. Now, this crash began Weymouth Police say they were chasing a car. That driver refused to stop. Initially trying to pull over that driver, but it is believed that that car may have been stolen. Now, this chase came to an end when that driver crashed into the utility pole right on the Weymouth Abington line. That driver taking down several utility poles, knocking out power to at least 2,000 customers, crews were immediately here trying to repair those broken poles. Were told less than 200 customers without power, but if you take a live look. Route 18 remains shut down as they continue to investigate and try and restore power. As for the two people in the car, they were taken to the hospital with injuries, and were told that both possibly will be charged once they are released. Two people were killed, another hurt, when a car rolled over and burst into flames. State police say theyre investigating the cause. Tell you about in saugus. Heres Danielle Gersh with that. You see the car in the corner. It does look like a tow truck on scene, but weve been keeping an eye on this all morning long. Southbound on route 1, you can see some slowing, as well. Lets go to the maps. Now again, this is route 1 in saugus and the rollover, northbound, but slowing is southbound, as well. Were also keeping an eye on this accident. This is in andover on 495 southbound at route 133. We have reports of cars off to the right and off to the left. On 93 southbound in medford, we also have an accident at mystic avenue, blocking the two center lanes there. So something to keep in mind. South of town, the expressway from braintree into boston, over half an hour northbound. So thats the slow drive. And then as nicole just showed us, route 18 still closed in abington in both directions. The pike from framingham into no major delays or incidents to tell you about. One person was kill, two others taken to the hospital. 7s victoria warren is on the seaboard with the latest. Medical examiner just left the scene a short time ago. And this was the home behind me where the victims were toll were trapped on the second floor. This was just after midnight last night. When the fitchburg Fire Department arrived, there were flames shooting out of the windows. They rushed in. They say they first found one victim near the stairs on the second floor. That man was brought out to an ambulance. Then they say they found a second victim near the windows and it appeared that person was trying to get to the windows when they were overcome by smoke and fire. Then the chief says they came across a third victim that did not make it out of this home alive. The fire chief says that one of the victims was conscious in the ambulance, the second victim they needed to perform c. P. R. So those two people remain at the hospital this morning. Investigators will be going through this home. They believe the fire started on the second floor, but they still need to determine a cause. An alaskans Airline Flight from boston on its way the san diego had to make an unscheduled stop in denver because of an unruly passenger. This was around 10 30 our time.
