This report is details the role the department of children and families played in her death. Well, the head of the office child advocates says the department of children and families probably closed the book too soon on an open neglect case it had on bella bonds mother, and it probably should have stayed involved with the family. Now, bella bond, of course, is the little girl whose body was found on a beach in winthrop, and we got to know her as baby doe. The Child Advocates Office says bellas mothers life kind of fell apart after dcf closed its case and that the mother moved out of a shelter. Michelle bond and her boyfriend are charged with michelles death, michelle accused of being an accessory after the fact. I asked the director of child of the agency or individuals. I think its a failure of both. I think that the individuals involve disd not have the clarity around policies and protocols that was going to guide them in to what needed to be taken into account, but it is also clear that there were opportunities for further checking, especially because of the mixed information that was available, and that the deeper dive for information did not appear to have occurred. The director said that some of the changes needed in dcf are already underway. She says its unclear whether the agency needs more money, thats something she plans to look into. And were following breaking news out of pennsylvania right now where an unmanned blimp the size of a couple of football fields has just landed safely. But it broke loose earlier today. 7s Adam Williams live in the newsroom with the breaking details. This happened just in the last minute. Yeah, thats the good news, kim, that its on the ground. Officials say a blimp has landed in an unpopulated area. It will became untethered from a military base. The military had to scramble fighter jets to track the blimp as it came close to the ground. Someone on the ground caught the blimp on camera floating overhead. A large cable was hanging from the massive blimp which Officials Say began dragging on the ground, hitting power lines, causing Power Outages and shutting down a local college even for the day. Plus you just consider the enormous size of this thing and what sort of damage it could have done. Authorities are now making sure the spot where the blimp landed is indeed secure. Boston police are searching for a man after a deadly shooting in brighton last week. Detectives are looking for this guy, 25yearold gamata mussa. Police say they consider him armed and dangerous and believe hes the one who shot and killed a 30yearold man in brighton last thursday, but police say theyre still investigating aspects of that case. And lynn going up in flames. Rescue to get everyone around. Some people escaping by firefighters. Many lost everything. Investigators are searching for a cause in that fire. Also on 7, the South Carolina School Resource officer caught here in this video slamming that student on the floor and tossing her several feet is out of a job. The deputy in fact fired just today, not long ago, after an internal investigation determined the officer did not follow proper procedure. Nbcs chris clackam has the latest on the firing. Reporter the viral video that lit up social media has led Deputy Sheriff and School Resource officer ben fields to lose his job. The resource officer ben fields was terminated from the Richland County sheriffs department. Reporter sheriff leon watts said firing fields wasnt a hard decision to make. What he should not have done is thrown the student. I do not feel that proper procedures was used at that point. And thats whats caused me, my heart to burn. Reporter deputy fields was called to the classroom at Spring Valley high school to help deal with a female student who was being insubordinate. The administrator got there, he was africanamerican, and he attempted to get her to leave the class also. She refused his instructions and continued to disrespect him.
