Were learning of a more rowic story where two neighbors came to rescue the man in his 80s at his home here on midland avenue in saugus. As you can see, it is very charred, very burned. This fire burned through it. We have a photo taken b flames from the photo. The neighbors tell us they were driving up here on midland avenue. They stopped when they saw the smoke, the flames and kicked in the door. And that is when they they went and saved the man who is in his 80s. They say he was near the front door, and they had to pull him out. The fact that the smoke was so heavy there were two neighbors working together. Man whos in his 80s out of his home. They say he is the only person who was home when this fire broke out, and the neighbors say without them, they dont want to be called heroes, but without them, it is likely this man would not have survived. He was taken to the hospital where he is being treated right now. And they say the good news here is that he was conscious when he was taken away by ambulance.
