The House Speaker said hed setaside the so called hastert rule which would only bring measures up for a vote if they are backed by a majority of their caucus. Boehner would then rely on democrats to pass a measure to raise the nations debt limit. Earlier today. The president and republicans still argued over the federal Government Shutdown. Now in its third day. There is one way out of this reckless and damaging republican shut down. Congress has to pass a budget that funds our government with no partisan strings attached. Five years president obama has carried a i won, my way or the highway attitude and he has not reached across the aisle to republicans. The conservative wing of the Repubican Party is still demanding that any spending measure to bring the Government Shutdown to an end. Include provisions to dismantle or defund obamacare. The federal Emergency Management agency recalled some furloughed workers to prepare for Tropical Storm karen. The storm has not reached hurricane strength yet, but that could happen as early as tomorrow. Fema reactivated its Hurricane Liaison Team at the National Hurricane center in miami. A hurricane watch is in effect on the gulf coast from louisiana to florida. Service academies wont miss their football games, according to the department of defense. Navy and air force will go head tohead in annapolis this weekend, and army will play Boston College as planned on saturday afternoon. Non appopriated funds from outside sources pay for the academies football games, meaning congress does not need to approve them. A chicago man is now charged with the kidnapping of a three Year Old Girl in suburban mundelein who returned the child some 30minutes after he abducted her. 28yearold jose reyes of west north avenue is accused of taking the child from her familys apartment complex around 5 30 in the evening on monday. Shortly afterwards, he returned to the complex and dropped her off and she was safely reunited with her mother. Still not known is what happened to the little girl during the half hour reyes is said to have had her. To bring it to such successful completion in a short manner with a threeyearold returned home and the suspect taken into custody, that speaks for itself. The investigation by police lead them to reyes last night where he works in lake county. In court today, his bond was set at fiveMillion Dollars. Police have charged a man in connection with a violent shooting on the citys west side that left a 29yearold bartender in critical condition. Police say Adolfo Zuniga walked up to the bartender and shot him in the abdomen and groin and ran. Police caught him two blocks away a short time later and took him into custody. A chicagoarea Animal Adoption Center is pleading for help after a school bus crashed into their facility and left their Small Business in a standstill. Workers and volunteers from the wrightwayrescue shelter in north suburban niles returned to the collapsed building today in an effort to find foster homes for the facilitys animals. A school bus plowed into the middle of the shelter yesterday afternoon. No students were aboard the bus. No animals or people were hurt. It is 10 years of hard work and dedication and it has been demolished in one day. It is very depressing but we are positive we will continue our work. We just dump all howl at the moment. Volunteers will be back at the shelter tomorrow trying to solicit donations to repair the building. They will also be trying to find homes for about fourteen animals. Nineyearold nia chetkovich has been fundraising for the shelter for the past two years. This picture was taken last summer after a fundraiser. A baby has a heart attack before she is even born. With quick action and a unique approach to treatment despite yet another heart atatck after birth this baby is healthy and going home i had no complications at all. It was an uneventful pregnancy, megan vandewerkens third. Megan vandewerken i was at the beach everyday with my kids until the day before i had her. Then on july 26, kaysen arrived. Stephen vandewerken i looked at her and she was beautiful. They said everything was great. We had no complications and we thought everything was fine. But within minutes of her birth, kaysen showed signs of heart trouble. Her doctor in joliet where she was born suggested a quick transfer to lurie childrens. I stood there in awe. He said the transfer team would be there in 25 minutes. My heart dropped. I didnt know what to do. It was the right move. Soon after kaysen got to lurie, doctors determined she had suffered a heart attack while still in her mothers womb. Dr elfriede pahl, lurie childrens cardiologist her electrocardiogram, her blood enzymes, everything suggested that she had a very severe insult to her heart, similar to an adult having a heart attack. It was probably fairly recent before she was born but we cant be sure. Then, a second cardiac arrest. I dont know what you call it. A heart attack. They asked us to leave the room as they tried to control it. I stood in the hall and watched the monitor go from 160 to 130 to 90, then zero. I watched them do compressions and shock her to get her back and they got her stable. This is an echocardiogram which is an ultrasound of kaysens heart. The heart rate is much too fast and the heart muscle itself is barely squeezing and really not able to pump out blood to the body. This is a sign of severe heart failure. Soon after this is when her heart stopped completely and she needed to go on ecmo. Ecmo is a mammoth machine that takes over the work of the heart and lungs. Its a form of life support. Kaysen was hooked up within 17 minutes. Later that week they said they didnt think it was going to get any better and that we had to get listed for a transplant. I went home with the other two kids and megan stayed here and we thought that was normal life. Then we got the call. It was a big day. I was getting my daughter ready for soccer. My son was running around and driving me crazy because we were late. My phone rang. Getting a phone call normally isnt a good thing, and thats when she told me kaysen was going to get a heart. After waiting five weeks and one day, kaysen had her new heart, and today just two weeks after her transplant surgery, kaysen is almost ready to go home. Ever since she came off the ventilator quicker than they had said. They had said it would take three weeks to come off the vent and then 7 days later they extubated her and to this day she is breathing on her own and good. Weve had a pretty good recovery. One step closer. Usually as long as a baby waits for a transplant is about how long it takes to get them out of the hospital. So i would have expected it to take about 6 weeks to get ready to go home and shes only about two weeks out from transplant at this point. Shes had a great recovery. Heart transplants in infants are improving. More than 50 of infants transplanted today can expect their hearts to last 20 years and possibly beyond. Back to you. Wow.
