With halloween right around the corner students sure their costumes are not offensive. In some dorms students are being told to put their ideas through a test before they go out in public. Most of our halloween is just supposed to be about dressing up and having fun. When it comes to Halloween Costumes campuses students have no problems pushing the limits but in some cases they cross the line when it comes to cultural stereotypes. I think its really respectable not to interfere with anyone elses culture and use it in a way that it wasnt meant to be. Asking others to be sensitive with their costume choice, posters like these are up in some dorms. You have to put yourself in other peoples shoes and see that maybe theyve been through different situations. Reporter one poster says students should put their costume through the screen test. Its a series of questions to determine if a costume could be offensive. If its not hurting y as like a native american or like stereotypical mexican i dont care, thats not really affecting me. But if it helps other people feel better yeah, why not. Reporter but some students have mixed feelings about the test. If you find some costumes offensive the person thats like dressing up in them is probably not meaning it in an offensive way. I think there isnt like a lot of like education about it. Like no one really talks by the a lot but i think its really like starting to come a good thing. Umass says the screen test was not officially published by the shoe. The university does not have a policy that bans any outfit. The november elections hold a number of positions at risk including patrol of the u. S. Senate. Coming up next im talking with a political analyst about the impact in the president ial campaign on senator Kelly Ayottes reelection bid. No you have donald trump go through the amount of things that he said have taken those undecided voters and given them a stance. What both ayotte and her opponent governor Maggie Hassan should do to win tonight these rd numbers facing New Hampshire senator kelly ayotte and governor Maggie Hassan as the twoified for a senate seat. The unh poll shows hassan with a 9point lead with less than three weeks until election day. Democrats need to win four seats for a 5050 split or five to take control. We sat down with a political analyst tonight to explain why the New Hampshire senate race is being so closely watched and what senator ayotte as well as governor hassan can do to improve their chance of victory in november. Heres ock. Reporter joining me now is political analyst jennifer naser. The new polls coming out today showing governor Maggie Hassan now leading New Hampshire senator kelly ayotte by eight points. Are you shocked byth i am a little shocked by that. I am shocked and im not shocked. I think that the donald trump effect is really starting to take its toll on some of the next in the senate that we were trying to protect. This is a very large lead and im hoping that it was miscalculated and i think that senator ayotte still has a couple weeks where she can gain some more traction and hopefully pull out ahead of this. So you 30 is still a chance here. A lot of people think in is over and done with . I dont think its over polls are polls and the only poll that matters is on election day. Kelly ayotte said she would support donald trump but once that video came out of trump talking in 2005 about kissing and grabbing women, you know, that was when she said thats it im pulling my support for donald trump. But do you think, hearing a moment. Ago this is something that left a mark here . I think it definitely left a mark. Interestingly enough, if you look at those poll numbers she didnt lose any ground with Trump Supporters even pulling her support i just think its the overall effect. I think that whats happening here there are 34 seats in play, 24 are republican seats, we have a couple of hotbed seats that have always been in play for the democrats. And New Hampshire is one of them. And theyve looked at this woman on woman race in a state that is controlled by women, and so it becomes a very interesting race. And because you do have a lot of New Hampshire residents that were gone a little bit more leans a little bit more to the left. So, of course this is always a pickup state for them. Now senator ayotte phenomenal woman and senator, shes just everything that you want to see in d. C. Representing your state. And i cant imagine that the voters will at the end of the day go straight down the line. I think that they will break in this case even though traditionally they go straight down. You say the Trump Supporters struck with her. What is it thats she was leading now shes down eight points. Were closer to the election. We have a bunch of voters that were not engaged didnt know where theyre going to go. Suddenly now have you donald trump go through the amount of things that he said have now taken those undecided voters and given them a stance. Now you ask them about a republican theyre not even thinking who it is theyre just hearing republican. Hopefully in two weeks she has enough time to make up some ground to go out talk to the voters, reduce working really hard for you in d. C. The past six years. Im going to continue to do that. These president ial candidates can have a lot of input. Absolutely. If you look at how people vote they dont normally change their vote from president to the senate. They might downballot in races where they know their state rep and know their state senator. But usually at the very top they stay straight. And so i think thats where having a nominee that isnt going to hurt. There are at least eight races that people are watching very closely. But why is New Hampshire so in the spotlight right now . New hampshire is in the spotlight because it is a female on female race. And i think that that is a thing that people are watching. So you cant say whereas in the president ial election right now you have a man and a woman. Have you two women, two high powered women, two women who have been liked throughout the state now running against each other. Spot for them. Around the country in other races i mean where you have burr and twomey in North Carolina and pennsylvania you know its a little bit of a different race. Nice guys but havent, you know, blown anyones socks off. And i think that those are kind of different races where as this, this is a very impassioned race. Theres a lot of money there. Theres a lot of money from massachusetts, theres a bigger media market. Its mo it around she only has less than three weeks to go here. Real quickly about 30 seconds whats the strategy . What she needs to do is be out at every event she could possibly be at. She needs to be talking to the voters and distance herself from trump and say i have been working for you for the past six years. I have done a great job, i only have the interests of New Hampshire in mind. We need to keep the balance of power because Hillary Clinton is going to win this and we need to retain the real quickly, balanced here as well, Maggie Hassan what would she do now to keep this lead and ultimately pull out the victory . I think Maggie Hassan just needs to keep showing that kelly ayotte is part of the donald trump movement, right. So and i think its a tough pitch for her to make because kelly senator ayotte is out on record distancing herself from donald trump. But i think that ayotte is really going to pull this out she needs to say hey, look, donald trump is against women, im shes a woman, whos for donald trump . Thats not true, but that would be what the governor would wanted to say. Again, kelly ayotte needs to go out there and say im a mom, im a professional, im a working mom, ive been doing this for a long time. Really we need to keep the senate because otherwise youre going to have a democratic president who will go in and appoint very liberal justices to the Supreme Court and youre going to have a Democratic Senate thats going to confirm those. Oddly contested these final weeks for sure. Jennifer nice to talk with you tonight. Thanks for coming in. If youre 45 or older you will remember where you were on this night 41 years ago.
