Reporter at the Hoboken Terminal Law Enforcement guard the outside as state investigators work inside to retrieve the cored or black box traveling an estimated 30 Miles Per Hour when it plowed through the bumper block and into a wall beyond the platform. 10 days. We need to understand why it happened. We also learned the name of the man operating the train, 48yearold Thomas Gallagher is described as an experienced engineer. According to the ntsb, gallagher was released from the hospital late thursday afternoon. We dont know a lot about why it happened. The engineer is fully cooperating with Law Enforcement in the investigation. Injured. Most of the injuries are minor, but there are two people still in the hospital tonight in critical condition. Mark, the ntsb says a major focus of the investigation will be the engineer. They will check his blood, his medical history, and they also plan to interview him. The woman who died was simply on the platform awaiting a train, but most of the injuries happened to people in the train, yeah, from what we understand, there were four cars being pushed by an engine, and the people in the front car were the ones who suffered the worst injury. Witnesses tell us they saw Police Officers handcuff a man and put him right into a police cruiser. Investigators were here at this apartment for quite some time today. Were being told that once again a little boy is in stable condition after he was somehow hurt. Take a listen. We received a call from a [bleep], that says he left his 2yearold nephew inside the came into Worcester Police dispatchers just before 2 30 this afternoon. Investigators say that call came in from this apartment on country club boulevard. The dispatcher was stunned. It was repeated again. We have a [bleep] calling, saying he killed his 3yearold nephew and left him in the apartment. Reporter police will only say the child is injured and that is man is being questioned. Sounded like he was screaming but, i mean, you know, pretty much crying and sometimes screaming. But i dont know. I dont know if he was in pain. I dont know. I have no idea. Reporter we saw detectives bring out bags and bags of evidence from the home. They were searching the upstairs and downstairs. Neighbors stood around and watched. They turned to social media to was that a man called 911 and said i killed my nephew. My 3yearold nephew. I heard that he actually called and confessed to it and then took off. They were out here for several hours, and witnesses tell me at least one man went into the Movie Theater and told someone he had been stabbed while another person rendered aid. They had state police and representatives from the District Attorneys Office here on scene helping them in their investigation, and they meticulously processed that parking lot looking for evidence. Merrimack Police Detective scott park tells me about a disturbing credit card scam that saw this man allegedly breaking into a womans home and angrily trying to collect mail he said belonged to him. It happened on tuesday after a woman took into an envelope that contained her street address but featured someone elses name. Then a strange man came to collect it. She called police when he refused to leave, but then it got worse. He forced his way right into we were gonna be that close, but we were. Reporter arrested is this man, 21yearold Charles Anthony washington of walden, new york. Detective park thinks washington is part of a, laker ring that has credit cards taken out with stolen ids, delivered to random addresses. This is not just a waiting game for them, its precision time. The truck rolls up, the guy gets out, he deliver it is, puts it in a mailbox and he grabs out of the mailbox and is gone. Most homeowners dont even know they received one of these track the packages and pick them up out of the mailbox as soon as it arrives. The trouble comes when the homeowner picks up the package first. Reporter detective park tells me thats when the homeowner will get someone knocking on their door to collect the mail and adds if you get a letter delivered to your home with someone elses name, call police. Anytime you get a package knowing what we know now, contact us immediately because it is most likely the individual is right behind that delivery. Police say these contain new victims name and that the scammers then turn around and use those credit cards to buy gift cards or merchandise if they can quick that they can quickly sell. Reporter this area of appleton street is known for heavy drug use but because the Opioid Epidemic is so rampant, the needles can be found anywhere. Youre finding needles disposed of everywhere. Reporter the Postal Service says this incident is very rare but not unprecedented because of safety concerns with the mail carrier and general public theyre working on relocating the mail becomes.
