The woman that you see here, that woman there, she is accused of hitting and killing a tow truck driver on the Howard Frankland bridge, then driving off. Shes in custody now, set to amir in court in a few appear in court in a few hours. Investigators tell us Alison Huffman used an ail alias for a trip to the hard rock casino. She somehow got into her car and then drove across the bridge and troopers say then she hit roger perez as he tried to tow a stranded driver. At 6 30, Rodney Dunigan is that has perez friends why the woman even still had a license. This case is just the latest in an alarming trend across our state. New numbers from fhp show an uptick in hitandruns in our state last year. Troopers investigated more than 92,000 hitandrun crashes in 2015. More than 7,400 more than 2014. Those crashes killed 186 people last year. Thats pretty much equal to one person dying in a hitandrun every other day. 6 05. We have new information on two murder cases were tracking throughout the bay area. We start in Hillsborough County where deputies are just revealing to us that these two people may know a man killed over the weekend in a parking lot near usf. Deputies think afron rosado and Jeffra Dejesus carino may have more information about the murders. Michael fuentes body was found off Sycamore Court off bruce b downs. The death but authorities not revealing how he died. In Manatee County deputies are just identifying a suspected murderer. Investigators looking for ahmed dunbar, thinking he may have been involved with two murders. You remember two men were found dead minutes apart last month. Two other suspects are already behind bars in this case. Detectives believe the suspects wanted revenge on the victims for a robbery. We checked overnight and found out a man accused of cyber stalking women is facing a judge this morning. Deputies believe William Beagle used social media sites to reach out to the women even after they blocked him. One victim told investigators he threatened to stab her. Beagles mom says her son was set up. Is he looking to go to prison . Three different women . All i know is, i mean, he wouldnt hurt a fly. I know that. A california mother facing attempted murder charges after workers at a Subway Restaurant made a gruesome discovery in a bathroom. A crying newborn baby found alone in a toilet. Police near los angeles say employees rushed to the bathroom after bleeding woman walked out of the store and thats when they found the baby in the toilet. People who worked nearby say the mother is homeless, frequently seen in the area right now no word on how that baby is doing. Former new England Patriots player Aaron Hernandez settled a lawsuit filed by a friend who says he shot him in the face. The boston globe reporting attorneys for Alexander Bradley filed Court Documents in miami that the suit was settled. Disclosed. Bradley claimed hernandez shot him in 2013 after arguing at a miami nightclub. Hernandez is serving a life sentence for the 2013 shooting death of semi pro Football Player odon lloyd. That truck you see there ran off the road and flipped, landed upside down. The driver of that car, of that truck was killed. This happened just before 3 00 this morning in the westbound lanes so if youre heading into the tampa area or even into lakeland from polk city we are seeing some slight delays here. I want to show you this area on my map. You can see it here. A little bit of a slowdown, just slightly red as you pull up on this crash so you definitely want to leave a good extra five to 10 minutes if heading westbound on i4 from the polk city area. Now, i am seeing some wet roads earlier this entire area was covered in green. That is an indication that the roads are wet but roads starting to slowly dry out. So if youre heading out the door the wet roads may not be a problem for you. We have an alert from sarasota, they are saying the lights out at u. S. 301 and 12th street, due to an earlier crash, pretty serious crash here. They sent us this picture along with that advisory, police are out there directing traffic because this car ran into one of the light poles. When you see images like this its just a reminder to all of us to drive with caution, put down the phones and stay alert, especially on a morning like this where you might run into some wet roads. One thing we dont have to deal with, the rain actually coming down during the morning commute. You dont need the severe Weather Threat to be ongoing to have issues on the roadways. Janelle is tracking a deadly accident on i4 near the polk parkway. Busy stretch of the interstate. Absolutely. For people leaving polk city and trying to head to lakeland or even tampa. This is the main stretch. I4 westbound, there it is that truck ran off the road and flipped, landed on the top and one person killed in this crash. This happened just before 3 00 this morning and ivan tells us it was really pouring at that time. No word yet if the wet roads played a role in this crash, but were seeing backups. You can see it here on the fdot camera, the westbound lanes passing through that crash. A little bit of a slowdown, no major delays but leave a good 5 to 10 extra minutes. This is the crash area on my map. Will it pick up the speed at that crash . Earlier it was about 60 and slowed down just as you got on to that crash site. So definitely want to leave a little early. Couple of other crashes, one eastbound state road 54 at the collier parkway, in pasco definitely seeing slowdowns on 54 and southbound on collier parkway. Apparently if this is an accident its now been cleared up and moved out of of the way. No problems, olmerton road, i saw activity south of the airport but probably a minor disefnt, no traffic problems there. Well keep watching that. Pretty good visibility from action air 1, things are beginning to dry out. In fact some light showers left over for highlands county. All of us dried out and were done with the rainfall as far as this morning. It came down pretty heavily. But frequent lightning which im sure woke a lot of folks up. Huffman was caught last night at an apartment complex in st. Pete after a daylong search. It turns out this is not as you mentioned her first runin with the law. She has a long history of dui arrests, yet still allowed to legally drive. We were able to get a bit of video of huffman taken into custody last night. Shes accused of hitting and killing that truck driver roger perez as he helped a stranded driver. Investigators say huffman sped off from the accident scene, her car later found at the Crowne Plaza Hotel not far from that crash. Back out here live, again that hearing is set for 1 30 today and the question will repeatedly come up today why after all of these dui arrests was huffman allowed to drive. That is a question we hope to get answered later today. For now reporting live near the Howard Frankland bridge, rodney in just hours a man will learn how long hell spend in prison for abusing his son so horribly the 3yearold died. Camry clark and a 15yearold are accused of stealing a master key from a maids cart, police say they broke into four Different Hotel rooms on valentines day and stole more than 1,200 worth of electronics and valuables. We have a crash causing pretty significant delays in pasco county, eastbound state road 54 at collier parkway. The major backups on 54 so again leave yourself extra time. We first thought there was an accident in the corner there but that might have been a traffic stop. A little west, westbound, you can see that car, dont know if it broke down, its not a good spot to be. The wrecker is already here though. They got traffic blocked both lanes now but only for a minute for the wrecker to get in there. Traffic is building through this part of Pinellas County. No delays otherwise. Rain is over at this point so were in pretty good shape. Rolling through in the overnight hours. There it is as we get to sunshine out here. Just a sign of things to come. Temperatures beginning to fall back a little bit and as we head through tonight cool but certainly not frigid by any stretch of the imagination, low 70s this afternoon.
