Her with a knife . Reporter you got that exactly right, rod. She called Sheriff Deputies telling them he was threatening to harm her as well as harm himself. Deputies cleared the scene here about an hour and a half ago after spending hours of investigation. Reporter its a well man cured, upscale neighborhood where neighbors tell me the only activity that happens here is an occasional car burglary, not today. When the first deputy arrived shortly before 5 00, 50year old mike stottard had slit himself with a knife and skill had the knife in hand. His wife and son he scaped to another residence. Police had asked stottard to put the knife down. When the deputy moved toward him, the deputy shot him. One neighbor i spoke with didnt want to appear on camera out of the respect of the family but says another emergency medicine rendered aid until paramedics arrived. But there was little he could do. Reporter and authorities have yet to release the name of the deputy who was involved. But they tell us he or she is currently on administrative leave pending the outcome of this investigation. Rod . The boy followed and found the gun, then fired a shot in the ground. Were told nobody was hurt in the incident. The boys family says they dont own the gun. In clearwater, two boys nearly drown this weekend in separate cases. The first, in northern Pinellas County. A little boy just a year old wandered away from his father in the backyard. He ended up face down in a drum in the second case, a 2year pool. Tonight both are in Critical Condition. Two teens are behind bars in hillsboro county tonight accused in three armed robberies. Now, according to deputies, 18 yearold Nicholas Gillam and another were ambushed separately. One man was shot. The others were pistol whipped in the face. A polk county man is dead tonight and another recovering after a horrific crash. This happened late last night in mulberry. The car spun around, and hit two palm trees, cutting them in half. The car landed on its roof. The driver was wearing his seatbelt and survived. But the passenger who was not wearing a seatbelt died. A bay area man continues to recover after being shot at a College Party in daytona beach. He survived. However, another man did not. Mel has much more on the story for us tonight. Heres what happens. Students at bethunecookman last night held a vigil to honor their classmate who died, donkevious johnson, a linebacker on the schools Football Team was shot in the head. Friends tell us johnson was a good friend. Good character. Very good character. He was always smiling, cracking jokes, you know. Good guy. And, um, its sad it happened like that. A woman was also shot in the head. She tried to run away. Shes listed in Critical Condition at this hour. As for tre jamal williams, hes in stable condition. Who rushed to see him. Antonin scalia is now headed home. They drove the body out of el paso, texas, and will be flown home to virginia. The battle on replacing scalia on the Supreme Court actually began just hours after his death. A vacancy on the court during an Election Year hasnt happened in decades. And florida, one of the few things you cant do up north. You dont want to go up at the beach on valentines day in, lets say, long island because its cold a beautiful snapchat showing the colorful cloud cover. Right now, temperaturewise, we are 62 degrees on this valentine valentines eve. We are 65 degrees down in lovers key. So temperatures not too bad right around 60. I mentioned its cold up north. It is cold frigid cold. In fact, 15 degrees in new york city. Boston has a windchill right now of 8 degrees below zero. Boston started out with a windchill, though, of 40 below zero this morning from earlier today. That is sea smoke. And that is forming in the boston harbor. Its actually steam that forms when especially cold air moves over relatively warmer waters. Many northeastern cities shattered record cold temperatures this morning. Wow. What a scene there. And look at this mess in indiana. Around 50 vehicles crashed along interstate 65 today in heavy snow. Several injuries were reported. But fortunately, none of those injuries were serious. So, yeah, quite the weather to recordbreaking cold in many states. Nope we are looking at beautiful temperatures really in the low to mid70s. By next weekend, well have high temperatures in the upper 70s approaching 80 degrees. Yeah. Not too shabby, right . Satellite radar picture, were looking at a few high thin clouds. The closest rain right now is in mississippi. Thats associated with this front which is going to head our direction. Heres how its going to pan out. By tomorrow morning, sleet, freezing rain, snow for North Carolina and georgia. Keep that in mind if you have any travel plans to that region tomorrow morning. And then that cold front will produce Severe Weather in parts of alabama and the florida panhandle. As it moves our direction monday night, tuesday morning, itll weaken considerably but still could produce a strong storm before it moves out tuesday afternoon and makes way for really nice second half of the week. Heres a closer look. No problems overnight. Just a few clouds. Partly tombing. Lows in the upper 50s by tomorrow morning. So youll probably need a light jacket as you head off to work or the school bus tomorrow. Then tomorrow afternoon, partly tombing. An isolated shower or two possible. Not a lot of rain during the day. High temperatures in the middle 70s. And then after sunset tomorrow, after youve gone to bed towards tuesday morning, well have a line of showers and storms moving through. Again, one or two of these storms could be on the strong side. Thats something well be keeping an eye out for obviously as it gets closer. Tomorrow, its president s day some folks have off, of course. And its a decent day. Partly tombing. More cloud cover than today. A partly to mostly cloudy skies. More cloud cover today. And maybe an isolated shower. All in all tomorrow, looks like a good day as storms move through early tuesday morning. And then behind that cold front, looks like somebody took the rubber stamp of sunshine and stamped it on every day because we are looking at beautiful weather, tons of sunshine. Warming up each and every day. So by next weekend, well be near 80 degrees. Kind a hint that perhaps spring only about 30 days until spring. Whats our theory . But the surveillance cameras were rolling the night the floor gave way. A 32feet sinkhole swallowing eight prized cars. As a car owner, how did it make you feel . Sick. Sick. Reporter the video went viral, getting more than 8 million hits. But for geoscientists well go down into the cave. An opportunity for deeper understanding. What we had is a cave we didnt know existed and the roof of the cave itself that close the roof became thin and it collapsed. Reporter despite the damage, Museum Managers have seen a spike in visitors. Instead of putting everything back the way it was before, we decided to embrace this as a new attraction at the corvette museum. Reporter two years later, that exhibit is now open, including a manhole peering into the immense and an experience if you were standing on the cave floor when it collapsed. We want them to have the sense of the feeling of power involved in that natural event. Reporter the eight cars involved are also on display. Two very restored and visitors can watch the work on a third. They made a positive out of a negative that happened.
