Now storm system that is tracking well to our north is what is producing a little bit of cloud coverage that were currently seeing. You can see High Pressure out towards inland areas and thats partly to mostly cloudy conditions. Well to our north, but thats what is creating the clouds to go into the Greater Cleveland area. This will change the game as we head into sunday and monday, but just soak up these temperatures. Look at that. By 3 00, we are in the upper 40s. Dont look too far ahead. Thank you. A fire in an abandoned home quickly escalates. Catching a neighboring home on fire. Now neighbors are demanding answers after their complaints went unheard. News channel 5 tracked down the neighborhoods counseling. Neighbors look out of their windows for what they know is next. Consequence, cleanup, and repeat. Folks had complained about this house for months. When it was still standing. Its nothing. Just got to adapt to things. Anthony anderson says ward 9 is littered with abandoned homes. On one street, you might for my ward, over 100 houses that are vacant. Councilman says demolishing a house costs 10,000. All of them seen as dangers to neighbors. I categorize my houses from the worse to the least worse house. This house was low on his list. Just another abandoned home until someone makes it more. Drug dealing, conwell says spending the annual grant money on demolishing abandoned homes doesnt add up. If they need other services and live in poverty, we have to use the money for that as well. Some thought the fire at this abandoned home was out, but early friday morning, an ember rekindled concerns. Flames nearly melted down another house where people are and that was frank wiley reporting. In the city currently has about 6100 abandoned homes. That number actually down from three years ago when it was 7700 homes. But demolition does not come cheap. It would cost well over 60 million to knock all those houses down. A beloved businessman is being remembered this morning. 43yearold, james emersa was found dead after a friday morning fire. The companys website says he was founded by jims father 30 years ago, but he had been running the place. Friends say he was always happy. I never saw him sad or anything. Always motivated, you know. Stay seconddegree up late, got his stuff down. Sometimes he wouldnt sleep. To get the orders out that he needed to do. Firefighters found jim under debris that had collapsed during the fire. They believe the fire was an police in athens say a serial rapist is on the prowl in that college town. Take a good look at the sketch. Dna evidence just linked the same men to three sexual assaults. The first one back in 2006. The other two last year. The attacks are similar. All of the victims, young women walking home in the Early Morning hours in the same part of town. The board of health says they see about 2,000 new child lead poisoning cases every year. To put it in perspective, thats half of all the cases in ohio. And while doctors are trained to ask about lead poisoning, recommended and not required. That can actually be damaging to any organ in the body. But what we are particularly worried about is the developing brain. In september, the feds gave 7 million in grants to cleveland and kioga county to reduce the number of homes with toxic lead. Now to a developing story, the Hillary Clinton campaign is demanding the state department to release 20 emails deemed top secret. I was scared i was going in there next. She was terrified and tonight considers that firefighter a hero. Almost lost his life today. So yeah. He is. He did real good. As for the firefighter that went under, hes okay this morning. Hes not guilty. Drogin wasnt arraigned. He shot her last month after days after he was arrested on charges of trying to run her over with his car. And a jury found an akron woman guilty in the murder of her five children. Tiffany powell and james harris were in a custody battle when powell and her boyfriend, paul reid, lured harris to her home and killed him. Powell will be sentenced next month. Reid is serving a life sentence. For these two men who they say robbed a woman at gunpoint, targeting her as she left the Great Northern mall wednesday night. This is the pub at clevelands great lakes brewing. Here are Friendly Faces and food. Our story begins here. In the cleveland area called ohio city, brewing takes place. Great lakes is a craft brewery. That means it is brewers interpret historic styles with unique twists and producing new styles. As a craft brewery, it makes less than 6 millionbarrels a year. Small brewery when compared to the big boys. But this big taste has followers. I believe this is our 75 barrel brew house. Everything you have found in a bottle or ekg come out of this very room. Caroline mcdonald tells the story of dan and Patrick Conaway who started this operation in 1988. The little brewery that could, and did, and does. Only brewed 1,000 barrels in that first year and now we are up to 165,000 a year. A lot and a lot of attention blend together. We are fortunate today. What is that sweetness that i smell in the air . On a scale of 1 to 10, lots of talk, even from the walls. The storied walls tell of clevelands beer making history. When there were many brewers. By 1832, there was brewing here. In 1820s, only 600 People Living in cleveland. So pretty important part of this city right from the start. This place has been a tavern since 1872. It was in 1901, they put the bar in right there. Eventually, along time prohibition and they put the bar in storage. Thats when the Salvation Army moved in right here. Eventually prohibition was repealed and the bar came back. And its been back ever since. Impressive stuff. It is. Equally impressive is what else the brewery inspired. Other companies in this ohio city neighborhood moved in, too. Yes, the new kid on the block brought new business, although it was an old idea. In the early days of the so this city has a long history with beer. Great lakes Brewers Company at same time, bills in this community becoming a key foundation. This is leon gibb, telling the story of the ohio city brewery still growing and helping cleveland grow.
