appears to be random violence won't deter customers. we went to several previous addresses of the victim. at one house, told us he had recently gotten out of foster care. there are lots of police 11:00. new information about the armed suspect who allegedly broke into a baltimore county home and ended up being shot by police. the suspect is identified as 27- year-old christopher bernard of randalls town. police say he broke into a home on wofford drive. he was allegedly wearing a ski mask carrying a gun. a neighbored called police. when officers arrived, they saw the man with a gun and shot him when he refused to drop it. ron smith the local broadcasters loses his battle with pancreatic cancer. weija jiang has more. >> reporter: june smith says there were very few tears when her husband died. they were celebrating the love and life they shared with each other and with their second family, ron's listeners. no matter how difficult the words, veteran baltimore broadcaster ron smith was not afraid to say them. >> i owed it to my audience to be honest with them. >> reporter: smith shared no details when he told listeners 9 weeks ago he was dying of pancreatic cancer. in her first interview since losing her husband, june smith shares with wjz his story which turns out it's a tale of love between smith and his audience. >> he loved his work. he loved his audience. he would boast to me that he had the best and smartest audience. >> reporter: smith known on wbal radio as the voice of reason, dropped out of high school and joined the marines. >> he was a truth teller. he had a ph.d. in conversation. >> reporter: a conversation still going. devoted callers spent tuesday remembering. >> we will be faced with what do you do when you can't see your friend anymore and talk to a friend you knew for years. >> reporter: as to what smith wants from his fans, june said this. >> he wants them to wake up. he will forever speak to me. >> reporter: smith was 70 years old and died peacefully in his home. there will not be a funeral service. the family is asking donations to be made in ron's name to john hopkins pancreatic concern research fund. smith leaves behind five children and seven grandchildren. the military hearing continues for bradley manning. the young soldier accused of leaking information to top secrets of wikileaks. she warned that he should not be loud to handle classified documents. after his time in iraq, he worked at intelligence analyst giving him access to documents. on the stand, the parents of 10-year-old boy who they say is victim of years of bullying. saying the city did nothing to protect their son. wjz is live and mike schuh has more. >> reporter: the 10-year-old suffered a brain injury. he took the stand today telling the jury that he was beat up constantly, everyday. the sign couldn't be clear, no bullying. at hazelwood, the special needs child was repeatedly bullied. called racial names. they point to repeated attempts to get the principals and others to act with no success. the boy's father says all of this bullying fundamentally changed his son. when asked how, he couldn't continue. he buried his hands in his head and sobbed. his son told him, i hate myself and i want to die. it was at this moment, his dad said he checked his son into the psychiatric program at hopkins. they're asking for $1.3 million but say it's not about the money. >> you can't just keep denying that it's happening and expect the problem to go away. >> reporter: named in the case, the principal of his first school, sydney and charlotte williams the principal at his second school. the attorney shows that the sullivans never used these bullying reporting forms. their son is now in a city charter school and the parents say all is going well. the boy when questioned by the attorney for the schools, admitted he made up a story about his dad abusing him. this will come up when talking about the correct -- credibility of the boy. it's really the beginning of a storm that's going to pass through the next 24 hours. temperature wise, we were in the 50s this afternoon. look at all of those temperatures, way above average for this mills with the team. the ravens went from bombed out to suddenly excited and having a home playoff game back in their grasp after the steelers lost last night. the mood in owens mills was noticeably upbeat for tuesday's light practice and it wasn't for anything the ravens did themselves, it was the money night game in san francisco, injured steelers quarterback ben roethlisberger hobbled and hurt and unable to move ahead of the ravens, pittsburgh lost 20-3. >> i stayed up and watched the whole game. you have no choice but to root for the 49ers. i actually said to myself, i wasn't going to go to sleep. >> reporter: the ravens woke up tuesday back in first place. joe flacco was among the players who say they did not watch the game at all. certainly delighted to reap the benefits. >> we're rain has been in pennsylvania. we've seen a few sprinkles around here and that's it. this is the going of the storm we will be dealing with. the clouds came in and very gray out there. that is also giving way to the warm temperatures, 45 degrees in baltimore. 50 in d.c. right now and we got into the 50s this afternoon. it was 53 for our high, take a look at that. 47 is where we started out the day, already above average of 44 degrees. here is the warm air ahead of the storm system. we will see a couple different storms. for us it's been a brushing of light rain and drizzle. tomorrow we will see that pick up a little bit. this part of the storm will leave us but there's another one behind it. little bit of break on thursday before the next one comes our way. we will see some rain from it thursday night into friday. that low is passing off to the west of us. when that gets out of here, we will see cold air move here. with so much going on in the next few days, want to make sure you check back in. out on the water, we do have a small advisory in effect. forecast looks like this for tonight. it is going to be a warm one out there. going down to 40 degrees. by tomorrow, the winds pick up out of the south and then the wins pick.. 58 degrees for our high. another warm day out there. so, we'll have to watch that. nothing guaranteed out this and i know people are busy not checking here are some of the stories. powerful blizzard is hammering the nation's heartland. we begin with terrell brown. >> reporter: stranded vehicles were piling up as fast as the falling snow in parts of kansas and oakland. nearly a foot of snow closed highway and sprong winds added to the dangerous condition. at least six deaths are blamed on the storm closing highways from new mexico to texas. >> they told us it's conditions all the way through. >> it was really crazy. it took me 3 hours to get 30- miles. >> reporter: four people died in an accident along the new mexico-texas border. authorities in central texas say the storm may have been a factor and the crash of a single engine plane, which killed five people. plows worked to clear major roadways including interstate 25, 54 and
