Filingsand ders this week and as of now Brendan Dassey remains here in the prison behind me where hes been for the last decade. But his release could be imminent. This morning a federal judge in milwaukee denied the states motion to halt dasseys release and said the 27 year old must be freed by 8pm friday. So the attorney general made a last ditch effort this afternoon filing a motion with the 7th Circuit Court of appeals in chicago to stop the release. And that is the court ruling were now dasseys attorneys already filed a response to the state. Earlier today i talked to dasseys father. He told me he didnt want to go on camera yet because he wont believe his son is getting out until he actually steps out of the prison doors. The 7th Circuit Court could rule at anytime but it is most likely they wont do it until at least tomorrow. The attorney general did request a response by friday 3 if dassey is released by friday. Or he is ordered to stay in prison this case isnt over. His conviction was overturned back in august. But brad schimel appealed on behalf of the state. We still dont know when the Appeals Court will hear oral arguments for that. Dassey could get get a new trial. Evan that man claims he w just trying to kill a spider when he pulled out his lighter inside a local snack factory. Instead police say he caused over 13thousanddollars in damage. According to a criminal complaint workers noticed a sack of almonds on fire on the morning of october 18th. Surveillance video later showed 24yearold kevin butler approaching the sack and holding a lighter to it for 8 seconds. His reason . Butler told the complaint says butler told officers he did not realize anything was on fire despite 4,200 pounds of almonds being burned inside the factory. While it might sound nuts its not the first time a person has tried to kill a spider with a flame. Last year a detroit gas pumpwent up in flames after a man triedto light a spider on fire while pumping gas. As for butler hes facing numerous charges including felony property.
