Let me do this let me share with you what the Newcastle police officers are currently getting not in great detail but in pay anyway and and maybe you know one benefit health insurance and how much it costs cost in the county and then and you can decide if it's fair or not or whatever you know. Understand something it's hard to figure out how much to pay someone whose life is on the line for you and me what's the right amount of money you know I guess you could take it from the what's the median income in Delaware now it's about what 6565000 some of that. So between 20152019 they had a contract. And the cost of living allowance additional salary changes in all kind of stuff were increased every year. So the increases cumulatively. For everybody in the year 2993 but see you know what I don't even a go of that yeah I do Ok basically there's a cumulative total increase. To about $6700000.00. Being paid for police to see if you have an idea of what the big number is that they're working with they have a pretty good deal of holidays by the way the vacation days not get to the salaries and the sec. Are up to the salaries down to us what you're waiting for you one of the salaries don't you Ok the pay so as of. Right now how much of the getting. Now I understand there's $10.00 pay grades with each rank so a police officer. Is just starting out getting like 49500 and. Then they move up and move up and move up until they're getting like $76881.00 a year as a police officer. As they move up and up depending on how many years they've got you know 123 so a 1st year it's 40041500 the 2nd year it's 52 grand the 3rd year it's $5046.00 city 4 yes 6 then the 4th year it's $57.00 it goes up every year Ok they get a nice little bump looks at about 2 percent every year which is nice and in fact if you've been police officer for 5 years. And you're making 60 grand a year and you get a promotion to a corporal. Well you'll either stay start out as 1st year corporal at $52.00 grand or you'll be there at the 50 or $63.00 grand a master corporals making $89000.00 a year. Ok Sergeant 98000 dipping about how many years they've been there 10 years . Tend to be making 113 grand and a senior lieutenant could be making 118 grand again depending upon how many years they've been there so I guess Mike they would go down to you know what's the least amount of money they could be making right so if you bring somebody in who's a sergeant for one year make it $63000.00 a year is that bad because the next year they're making 66 3rd year the make and 697 the 4th year they make and 73000 a year you see I'm just asking you it think this is this is lousy pay then he didn't increase you have a police officer on the force 5 years back and 60 grand. After 6 years making $63.00 grand do you think they should be paid more I have no idea how much it would be for you for you and me to pay more in taxes watch $1.00 thing we're going to talk about holidays they get New Year's Day Martin Luther King's birthday Veteran's Day Lincoln's birthday Thanksgiving day day after Thanksgiving Day Washington's birthday Good Friday Christmas Eve. Christmas Day Memorial Day and as they Labor Day comes day election day every other year and so they get a lot of good good ones and special holidays as the governor or county executive may designate as holidays with pay and Sting things like that. If they've been on the payroll of the county for one year but less than 5 they get 10 days if you are working for 5 years but less than 10 the get 15 days vacation that's like 3 weeks right well if you're work and you know 5 days a week 40 hours right 3 weeks after 5 years sweet if you've been there for 10 years but less than 15 you get 20 days of vacation if you've been there for 15 years and let's see the 2515 years you get 25 days vacation in the following year now. If you've been on the payroll for more than 15 days I'm sorry for more than 15 years you get $25.00 days vacation every year plus one additional day for every successive year that you've been working all right 25 days that's 5 weeks Monday through Friday 5 days a week right. That's 5 weeks vacation nice I think that's pretty beefy and they get sick leave although sometimes your your sick leave can be subtracted in hours depending upon your regular shifts and things like that there's you got to you get to give banks of sick leave things like that so sometimes they can take it away and then you get hour early. Over time as well so I think really that's the question. For a and let's just look at the lowest scale here of the lowest scale for the different pay grades 495048 police officer Corporal 52 grand senior cripple 54 grand and that's if they've you know been on on the case for like a year it's the lowest pay the going to get Master corporal at $57371.00 sergeant $6320.00 so you've got a sergeant making $63.00 grand but they can get up to $98000.00 a year after 4 years 73000 dollars where the police officers have $57.00 after 4. And they moved it to an even more restrictive system one normally used to store information about specially sensitive government secrets does that sound like a cold bare personal server Why why no no it doesn't so if you hear anyone in the news referring to it as a a personal server I would say you can certainly suspect some bias. Well I say certainly suspect because somebody else might have written that for them and the presenter may not know that it's actually another government server one it's more restrictive now I was reading some other news stories about that too by the way. And what I have come to learn is that there are a number of transcripts and documents that have been moved from that classify computer system to the other more restrictive system and the reason being given is the White House is worried about leaks Oh yes thank. You Obama was pretty tough man I mean when there were leaks people's lives were up ended careers were threatened and leaks were shut down very very well. That and that said I was reported in The Washington Post and such there were more people prosecuted for was being whistleblowers under the Obama administration than any other presidential administration in history yeah whistleblowers prosecuted. So so is a very fearful time if you want to be a problem it was a blower there in the bottom in a straight there are people who did. So the whistle blower's accusation now opens up a potential line of attack by Trump's political opponents on the campaign trail according to Reuters and Reuters is making this comparison Trump hammered Clinton during the 2016 campaign for use of a private server to store sense of government e-mails remember that as a private server the f.b.i.
