Jean police say the thieves are stealing the purses out of shopping carts or stealing it directly out of the victims hands and then running away. The thefts have all taken place during the middle of the day at busy Shopping Centers and police say they may be connected. The first one happened sunday afternoon at the goodwill on brambleton avenue. The second incident happened less than an hour later at the clearbrook walmart. And the third happened around the same time the next day at the kroger on williamson road. Police say the women are taking cash from the purses and then dumping them somewhere else. Only one purse has been recovered so far and that was at the shell gas station on plantation road. Police have arrested and charged Sandra Coleman of roanoke with grand larceny. In court today, Christy Beskin pleaded guilty to killing Donna Hiatt Lanier and setting her house on fire. Wdbj7s Danielle Staub was in court and got reaction from the victims family. Deborah caldwellbono, beskin attorney she didnt go there with the intention to kill donna, they were best friends. A long time. A guilty plea in a danville murder case is what Christy Beskins attorney is calling a proper resolution for both families. Caldwellbono shes being held responsible for what shes resposible for. Tragedy all the way around. You have two families that have lost what they should not have lost at this early stage. Beskin faces 50 years in prison and one hundred thousand dollars in fines for killing donna hiattlanier and setting her house on fire wayne aaron, donnas counsin, today was of course very emotional for the entire family.
