The cold spot out in orange at 29 degrees. It is 30 in keene. Most of us are at or above 40 degrees this morning. You can see there are some clouds out there. These are thin clouds around this morning. But patchy clouds here and there. You can see off to the west there are some showers. These are associated with a cold front that is moving toward us. Out ahead that front today a southwesterly wind feeding off even warmer temperatures. From the 40s this morning were going to jump up into the 50s this afternoon. In fact by 10 00 this morning, notice partly sunny skies. Around 50 degrees with mid and even some upper 50s this afternoon. That southwesterly wind about 1015 miles per hour. A few spots south of town, look at that. Around taunton could actually touch 60 degrees today so it is warm, yes, and just the chance as we get toward really this evening of a couple of showers especially over southeastern massachusetts. Still dealing with overnight work crews between the Allston Brighton tolls and route 93. If youre heading into downtown we do have lane closures here on 93 both directions between the oneill tunnel and somerville. And theyre picking up work crews as we speak inside the sumner tunnel there with at least one lane shut down. The rest of downtown looking pretty good. River roads, airport tunnels. South of town no troubles here on the expressway. Routes, 3, 24, 95 wide open getting up towards 93 and 128. Same with the roads up north. 93, 95, route 3. New hampshire and back. Caucuses arent like primaries. Iowa voters must attend Public Meetings in their communities to cast their votes. Democrats have to cast their vote in public. This was the scene around 1 40 this morning on mass ave. At boston street. Boston e. M. S. Transported the woman to Boston Medical Center. Court today, facing several Living Conditions in worcester. Prosecutors say Sheyla Montalvo and natasha rileymurphy lived in the squalid home on king street with their children, ages 6, 5, and 3. Police say the home is infested with mice, animal feces, and garbage. The women were also arrested on multiple drug charges. Now all we know at this point is a threeyearold child from roxbury was hospitalized, taken to Boston Medical Center around 9 40 last night after police got a call reporting a trauma victim here on alpine street. We dont have at this point any details on what may have happened to this threeyearold, but again police are investigating. Were also still waiting to find out how that child is doing. Kelley tuthill, wcvb, Newscenter Randy right now a weymouth firefighter is under investigation all over a Facebook Post about drug addicts. The eyes Frank Holland is live in weymouth, with the action city leaders are taking today. Frank weymouths mayor, fire chief, and other officials will hold a meeting after that Facebook Post went viral. The post allegedly made on a firefighters personal facebook account. It calls the overdosereversing drug narcan the worst drug ever created. The post suggests letting overdose victims die. After reading that post, people flooded the Fire Departments official facebook page, some calling the comments disgraceful. We talked to one man who drove straight to the fire department. Its very emotional for him. He lost his son, a veteran, to an overdose in may. I was angry. I wasnt going there to start a fight or anything. I know most firemen are great that guy though, you know, i wanted to bring a picture of my son in when he was in his uniform not that long ago. Frank weymouths mayor saying, our First Responders take their jobs very seriously. We have a mission to protect and save lives. The post sends a different message than that. Its not confirmed that the firefighter actually posted the message. We reached out to the firefighter and his union. We have not received a response. That firefighter is still on the job. He was out chopping wood when something went wrong, and he got trapped for two hours under a tree. A group of nuns from st. Marys, who some say rarely go into the woods, happened to be out saturday and heard goldmans cries. I think they have a day of recollection. I think thats usually the sisters take a walk in the woods. That was great. They saved this guys life probably. Good to see them in the news. We nuns dont get much publicity. We had warm temperatures got to 57 degrees in boston for the last day of january. When you look at december and january together, the warmest twomonth combination on record for the boston area. There you see the average temperature just kind of topping the charts. So its been pretty incredible. We may close to some record High Temperatures today. The record in boston is 66. Im forecasting upper 50s. Notice in worcester forecasting the lower 50s. The record for you is the lower 60s. It will be warm. No doubt about it. Were starting out in the 40s. Average high this time of year is 36. We are sitting about ten degrees above that this morning in boston. There is a cold pocket toward orange and keene where we are a little bit below the freezing mark. A southwesterly breeds is kicking up this morning. Coupled with a blanket of clouds through the overnight hours. As the sun comes up before 7 00 this morning, the first time thats happened in a while, were going to see muted sunshine for a time this morning. Off to the west though there is a cold front. On the other side of the front it is cooler. That air will start to preyed in spore tomorrow. Well call it partly sunny today. Temperatures shooting up into the 50s. May hit 60s in taunton. The best chance of a shower is in southeastern massachusetts between about 6 00 and 8 00 this evening. Then that will shift off shore. Skies clear out overnight. It will be a little colder out the door tomorrow morning. 20s to around the freezing mark so feeling a little bit more like february tomorrow morning. Tomorrow is a quiet day for ground hog day with High Pressure in control. Here comes that system out of west. So we are going to be on the warmer side. There will be some heavier rain getting on in here. So quiet tomorrow. Back down into the 40s. Wind and rain in the forecast as we head into wednesday. Here. You can see how that storm approaches. It looks as though the rain comes in mostly after the morning commute. I think its heaviest in the hours. Its shifting off shore. This system will be loaded with moisture as we clear it out on out on thursday. You can see some of the rain totals here. Up over an inch especially out in the worcester hills on westward so the potential for heavier rain as we work through wednesday. Week. There will be a storm off shore friday. Right now it looks like its a little too far out to sea to have any impact here. Well watch it. Were trending from 50s back down to the 30s by the weekend which is average for this time of year. Work crews being picked up both directions on the mass pike between route 93 and the Allston Brighton tolls. Farther west though, youre looking pretty good from framingham all the way into the city if thats your destination this morning. Up to the north routes 3, 93, 95, a nice ride out of New Hampshire. 9 take you a little over 20 minutes to get from 495 in andover right down to the lower deck. South of town much of the same. Routes 3, 24, 95 okay getting up to 93. The expressway here wide open. Take you about 11 minutes braintree up to the oneill tunnel. If youre taking the trains all lines are starting the morning on time. Emily. New this morning. The mbta is dealing with a slew of problems with its new the globe reports two of the trains had such problems with frozen engines and overheating that they had to be sent back to tests. The 40 new locomotives started running in 2014 at a cost of about 222 million. The mbta is now working with manufacturers to fix at least nine defects. But the t says the new engines are more reliable and have decreased delays. Randy a new app is launching in boston. And that could mean good things for the taxi industry. The app curb makes its debut in the city next week. It links smartphone users to a network of about 600 taxis in the boston area. But the taxi industry says the app is still not enough to compete with Rideshare Services like uber and lyft. A big win for engineering students at m. I. T. They won the right to build a hyperloop, a highspeed transportation device. The initial concept came from the cofounder of spacex and tesla motors. The toddler suffering from trauma last night at a home on alpine street in roxbury. Its unclear what caused the injuries. The threeyearold was taken to Boston Medical Center. Two people are expected in court today charged in a january 3 murder in everett. Jose ardon and cristian nunezflores have each been charged with murder in the shooting death of 19yearold omar reyes. Reyes body was found on tileston street bridge. Randy the longtime girlfriend of convicted mobster James Whitey Bulger will go back before a federal judge this week pleading guilty to contempt charges. Catherine greig is already serving an eightyear prison term for helping bulger avoid capture during 16 years on the run. She plans to plead guilty on wednesday to disobeying a judges order to testify about other people who helped bulger. Bulger is serving life for murder and racketeering. Emily two Virginia Tech students are held without bail, charged in the murder of a 13yearold girl. Charged with the kidnapping and murder of Nicole Madison lovell. Police say he knew the victim who allegedly climbed out of her window and disappeared on wednesday. Her body was found on saturday. 19yearold natalie keepers was also arrested, charged with helping eisenhauer dispose of the girls body. Randy four Staff Members are under arrest, charged in connection with an abuse scandal at a private school. The eagleton school, which is a facility for boys with disabilities in great barrington, was raided this weekend. The four staffers are charged with assaulting students there. Look at the temperatures though. Yesterday 57 degrees. Average is in the mid 30s. Even as we cool down tomorrow, were only cooling back into the 40s so above average temperatures here through the middle of the week. Thats the story. A cold front off to the west this morning. This is going to move toward iowa as we head toward tonight into the day tomorrow. Affecting chicago as well. That storm will track to our west so tomorrow is a quiet day. As that system approaches from the west on wednesday, we are going to warm up once again. We are going to get a windswept soaking rain in here during the day on wednesday.
