Drones too close to airplanes. Today we expected the faa to release the registration guidelines that could require people who own drones to pay to register them, and they will be required to registerer that drones al well. Reporter than was just one of the incidents where a drone has come too close to a, if any, plane. The federal aviation too the federal Aviation Administration is considering changes to flying zones including requiring that they be registered. They are hoping more accountability will lead to fewer close calls. Now most drones do already have a gps system in place, but in new york city, we expect to hear the announcement from the faa officials later this morning. A number of pilots have reporter chris, theres been as many as 90 close call incidents in the tristate area in the last few years, and its a great concern to pilots and faa officials, and they hope by implementing the new registration program, it will have drone owners more accountable. The concern among aviation officials is that if a drone can get sucked into the engine of a plane, or damage a windshield or window in anyway it could lead to a crash.
