This has many of the hallmarks of a terror attack. Was farook radicalized and this preplanned terror, or was the main spark a workplace grievance . Farook was an employee with the county Health Department and witnesses say he left the Holiday Party at the social Services Center after a argument and then returned with his wife both dressed in Tactical Gear armed with rifles and semiautomatic handguns. Nobody just gets upset at a party, goes home an pottle together that kind of an elaborate scheme or plan to do that. There was a plan to do this. Reporter in the middle of the chaos inside, officers, including this one led people to safety. Try to relax, everyone, try to relax. Ill take the bullet before anyone, thats for [ censored ] sure. Reporter the guns were performed legally and farook had no criminal record. Again, a lot more questions than answers. Reporter the fbi is leading the search of thread lands townhome and a car you see parked on the side of the street with its doors and trunk open. Gathering that evidence, they hope it will point to a motive for yesterday shooting at a San Bernardino county christmas party. This home is rented by syed farook and his wife but its unclear if they actually lived here. What investigators have found is this married couple was heavily equipped for an attack. They had an arsenal of firearms inside as investigators found 12 pipe bombs, tools to make ieds and tons of ammo. Also uncovered, critical thats being flown back to a washington lab. Last night, fbi tactical teams entered this home. Witnesses had tipped off police to this address and that led to a chase and gun battle that killed both of these heavily armed suspects. Two Police Officers were also injured in that but expected to be okay. Eye jasmin villareal, cbs 2 news. There are some signs that this attack was tied to terrorism. Two Law Enforcement sources tell cbs news that syed farook had been in contact with someone flagged in the u. S. As terrorism. Also sources say that farook was communicating with people linked to terror overseas. Meanwhile, a Government Official says farook met his wife Tashfeen Malik during a trip to saudi arabia two years ago. Farook then returned to saudi arabia last year, which is u. S. Lawmakers on capitol hill are expressing concern about a to make sure guns dont fall into the wrong hands. Youre on a no fly terrorist watch list which means you cant fly on a plane to america . Police say they brought a device filled with vinegar and cinnamon to school and planned on taking it on a field trip to the high school and setting it off inside the auditorium. Investigators say it wasnt an explosive device but the 10 was. That high school. Could have been harmed. Four boys and a girl, caught by administrators after they uncovered a written plan wednesday morning but parents them. I found out on the news this morning and my motherin law calling me. Nothing. The study was building on existing data that it pays to be fit. Reporter the study published in the journal neurology found a connection between slow walking speed in the elderly and the amount of amyloid protein built up in their brains. That buildup has been associated with a development of alzheimers. Researchers say a slow gait could signal the possibility of alzheimers before people show clinical symptoms. But a doctor says dont be alarmed if you walk slowly. Theres so many causes of brain function. Reporter what could be happening is that the amyloid protein affects the motor areas of the brain first slowing walking pace. But slow walking could also be due to arthritis, heart or lung problems or just painful feet. Ann worries she could develop alzheimers because both her parents had dementia but so far she and her husband havent slowed down. So youre going to keep it up because of that . Definitely. Reporter again, the study doesnt prove that slow walkers will develop alzheimers or even that amyloid plaques cause slow walking. It just shows an association. Tonight, investigators are trying to figure out the deadly rampage in San Bernardino, california. Welcome back, im kristine johnson. Im alice gainer in for maurice dubois. Heres what we know right now. 14 people were killed and 21 wounded when the suspects, husband and wife, syed farook and Tashfeen Malik, opened fire at a banquet. Tonight there are concerns farook could have become radicalized. Sources say farook was in contact with people overseas with ties to terrorism. According to published reports, the couple met online. The fbi says that malik entered the United States on a fiance visa in july 2014 from saudi arabia. She had a pakistani passport. A search of their home uncovered 12 pipe bombs and more than 3,000 rounds of ammunition. Investigators also found three connected pipe bombs with a remotecontrolled device that apparently malfunctioned. It appears to be a degree of planning that went into this. Nobody just gets upset at a party goes home and puts together that kind of an elaborate scheme or plan to come back and do that. That went into this. Tonight investigators say they do not have any credible information to indicate that there is any threat to anyone in that area. And it is a question that many parents are grappling with these days. It stands for the islamic stake for iraq and syria and that honestly theyre a bunch we cant shield our children from whats happening in the world. Reporter this psychologist says talking about tragedies like this as a family is essential and that for parents, the first thing to ask your children, what theyve heard and how theyre feeling.
