The Three Friends said they did not discuss anything about their social status or reputation and, in fact, sought immediately to find help for their friend and also asked her if she wanted to go visit police. From the time felicity and i took on this story, it felt a great mixture of privilege and responsibility. We were so thrilled when they saw the film and they were kind about it. But the audiences and the people responding and to get this sort of nomination is really absolutely extraordinary for us. So were thrilled. Its an amazing performance as i said, you really inhabit this character. Is this one of the most challenging roles you have taken on . You know what, i can say it was the most challenging role i have ever done. It involved many sleepless nights. Our job as actors, we love telling stories, interesting stories and playing interesting people and they dont come as extraordinary as this story very often. For me, it was a once in a lifetime. Eddie, im trying to remember, you were here a few weeks ago. Didnt you tell me to help you with the transformation. The physical transformation, you worked with a ballet teacher or a dance instructor . Absolutely. So there was a formidable reynolds, as i was learning or start preparing for the roam, the film isnt about the disease or about the specificsality, its a human love story. So i wanted to work on the specifics of the different stages of stevens fixicality so we could just play the love story, really. So i went with this wonderful dancer who helped sort of find stevens specific decline in my body. It was a really interesting process. Its extraordinary. Good thursday morning. The temperatures climbing into the low 40s at the shore. Icy conditions are to blame for this accident in lower moreland county this morning. Police tell us the driver lost control, then crashed into a guardra guardrail. Another car was also involved and we are told that some folks were injured, but they should be okay. She plays a woman who becomes addicted to painkillers and drugs as a result of an accident she has been through, Felicity Jones, Jullian Moore still out, which is an incredible nomination. Reese witherspoon, again, a book that has been adapted to a screen play wild. Reese witherspoon, all phenom fal actresses. The comedy, best actor and comedy is kind of interesting. I know it took over 12 years to film this. What was it like being a part of this film . Caller every moment of this movie was so beautiful, working on it, going back every year. It was really much more about the process than anything else and it was, you know, just such incredible people i got to work with year after year. Much of the crew came back. Many of them for 12 years. It was just an incredible experience. Did you ever think you would be a part of Something Like this, this seems will be like a social experiment rather than a movie to spend 12 years making one thing . No, because, its so hard to get a film financed these days. Its really become almost impossible to get small point of views made and we only have a 4 million budget. So we only had 200,000 every year. But for him to get financing for Richard Linkletter to go out and get financing, that was almost an impossible concept. Patricia, when you were here on the show, you talked about how over the course of the filming, the young star, you watched him evolve and turn into a young man all along with your own children growing, and the close knit cast has you pointed out and the people even behind the scenes that were needed for this to be successful. Caller yes. It was definitely a group effort and a group project, the whole thing and everybody was of the same mindset. You know, our director, Richard Linkletter, he was very clear about how he wanted to tell the story and he broke a lot of the rules of story telling and drama. Him by choosing not always to go the most dramatic route, but to sort of celebrate children and life and the working class families we all know. It must be a real honor to be in this group. You got jessica chastain, keira knightly, emma streep. What does that feel like . It feels so good, it feels great. I think those actresses are brilliant to be in that company is really incredible. And i didnt ever expect that at this moment in my life at 46yearsold, so. Wow. Its all just incredible to be a part of a movie you love so much, to work with people you love so much. And then to have the public and critics and, you know, film lovers celebrate it. Wow. Well, its getting a lot of high praise and taking top honors at the new york film critic circle, los angeles critics association, golden globe nominationings, sack awards yesterday. The young direct who got nominated herself for a golden globe. What was this like for a young man from britain from the u. K. To be playing, programs, one of the most iconic africanamericans ever . Caller well, you know the way i got into this film was i first read this script in 2007 as a british actor who had just two months earlier moved to this country. I read the script and i had a visceral, spiritual knowing that i was going to play this role at some point. God told me that i was going to play Martin Luther king in the film selma. It took another three years before lee daniels cast me in the film. We still couldnt get it off the ground as of 2010. I had worked on ava duveneau, i felt she was the right person. I campaigned for her and seven years after reading it for the first time, here we are with golden globe nominations and the film being received so well. David, you were moved to tears as the pave the way event, your wife, your children were there. This is life changing. Are you prepared now for everything that comes after this including as many have already said, possibly the oscars . Well, you know, nothing quite prepares you for all of this. Its a great, great ride. I think one u one of the amazing thing is i have a wonderful wife and four wonderful children. I have been doing this a while now. I have been an actor professionally for 16 years. I think it helps to be longer in this. Its exciting. Its not going to redefine who i am. David, it is a very tough category, as you know, steve carell, benedict couple berbatch, jake gyllenhaal, eddie redmain, what do you think of the competition .
