Were tracking the warmup, then were tracking rain, then after that were tracking the winds. We do see quite a bit of variation in the forecast over the next few days. Now news from our south jersey bureau. A man is dead, shot by police, and investigators say they found a gun where he collapsed. This happened in bridgeton, a community dealing with changes after a Previous Police shooting. Detectives spent hours investigating on south avenue last night. A Police Source tells us a man ran from an officer and then he pulled out a gun. Police shot the man. He died a short time later. Its not even the first time the cops are killing blacks and stuff like that. Show me your hands show me your [ bleep ] hands this comes two years after the Deadly Police shooting of jeremy reed at a traffic stop. Bridgeton eventually cleared the officer who shot him. Use of force was put into place after that shooting. Todays delawares governor will join loved ones and comrades at the funeral for state correctional officer lieutenant stephen floyd. The officer was killed last week during an inmate revolt at the Correctional Center in smyrna. His Memorial Service will be held in dover. Also today cabellas will be holding a fundraiser for floyds family. Its a cookoff. Police are searching for a driver that hit one of their officers. Authorities tell us the driver crashed into this car at 52nd and market streets in west philly. When the officer approached the driver, he sped off, hitting that officer. The officer went to the hospital for minor injuries. Construction work will impact drivers trying to get around center city this weekend. Almost a dozen major roads are closed today and tomorrow. I want to give you a closer look at exactly whats going on here on broad street. This is shut down at 4 00 this morning. There are two cranes in place between locust and walnut. This closure will remain in place until 8 00 sunday night. But there is some other closures you should be aware of as well. Starting at 6 00, so right now, there will be closures in the areas of filbert and 4th streets. Those are in effect until 6 00 p. M. Then from 6 00 until 4 00 today, north broad street, the eastbound lanes of arch and race will also be closed. And at 7 00 a. M. , so just an hour from now, 18th street, callowhill street, washington avenue and race street will be closed until 3 00 p. M. Expect to see construction closures beginning at 8 30 on lombard street as well. Tomorrow just a couple of closures in the area to be aware of. 16th street and arch street, and of course this area of broad that were standing on right now. All are going to be closed until 8 00 p. This morning Edward Snowden is responding to an nbc news report that russia may be returning him to the United States as a socalled gift to President Trump. A senior u. S. Intelligence official says the russians may hand over snowden as a ploy to curry favor with the president. During his campaign, mr. Trump called the nsa leaker a spy and a traitor who deserves tore executed. Snowden faces charges that could put him to prison for decades. Snowden retweeted last night and said, finally, evidence i never cooperated with russian intel. No country trades away spies as the rest would fear theyre next. In other news this morning, the white house says President Donald Trump has full confidence in his National Security adviser, mike flynn. Nbc news confirms reports that flynn spoke to the Russian Ambassador about sanctions from the Obama Administration before President Trump took office. Flynn, Vice President mike pence and other top officials had denied that, but yesterday flynn said that he wasnt sure if he talked to the ambassador about those sanctions. That he would mislead the American People about what he discussed with a Russian Ambassador, that makes him, i think, if true, patently unfit for office. Some lawmakers are looking at the timing of flynns communication with the Russian Ambassador. It happened just as the white house during the Obama Administration was expelling Russian Diplomats for Election Year hacking. President trump is now looking at options after a federal Appeals Court upheld a freeze on his controversial travel ban. Yesterday the president said that he is considering signing a new executive order on immigration while the first one is tied up in court. Were at 32 right now in philadelphia, so we saw very little cooling yesterday afternoon to what were seeing right now. Were at 25 in allentown and 30 in wilmington. Dover is at 40 degrees right now, and were almost there in atlantic city. Temperatures are certainly on the up already. Take a look at the 24hour change map. This is comparing right now to 24 hours ago. Were 9 degrees warmer in coatesville, 5 degrees warmer in allentown. Go south and were 16 degrees warmer in vilin. 17 degrees warmer in dover. Youre already noticing that temperature difference if you step outside the door this morning. Today is the day to be outdoors because tomorrow we have rain in the forecast. Today were dry, we just have some clouds in place that you see across the northernmost parts of our viewing area but extending south as well. This morning prosecutors are investigate ing a Deadly Police shooting. Police tell us a man first ran from an officer, then he pulled a gun. Police shot the man. He died a short time later. Investigators say they found a gun where he collapsed. I seen somebody run across the street, and next thing i knew, i heard some gunshots. The county now has to follow new state standards for investigating officer use of force cases. Those rules went into effect after the Deadly Police shooting of jeremy reed at a traffic stop in 2014. A grand jury cleared the bridgeton officers involved in that case. A new report from new jerseys attorney general finds that a state trooper used justifiable force when he shot a man inside a home mistakenly linked to a 911 call. Heres the story. Gerald sikes thought he was defending his upper deerfield home from intruders last july, but he was really confronting two troopers who went to the house when a disconnected 911 call was mistakenly traced to that address. The trooper said sikes pointed guns in their direction before one trooper fired back, wounding sikes. If you are running somer ran some errands or spending time in center city, it may be a challenge. Still did he feels District Attorney philadelphias District AttorneySeth Williams says he will not run because of a distraction. They are looking at 75,000 worth of gifts that williams received and did not initially report. He also received a record ethics fine from the city of philadelphia. Nbc 10 investigators had tried for weeks to get a response from williams but to no avail. He also didnt take any questions when he announced his political future yesterday. Williams says his children have been paying the price for his problems. The decision i will make today will begin the process of healing for my children, who have been forced to develop a thick skin at too young of an age as they watch their fathers character attacked publicly on a nearly daily basis. The twoterm democrat also says he regrets mistakes that hes made in his personal and financial life. There are already a half dozen candidates vying to replace williams. Five democrats, michael untmire, joe crass and one republican. The primary election is coming up on may 16. We are learning the death of a teenager back in october is now being investigated as a homicide. It has been determined the 15yearold boy died of asphyxiation. Wordsworth is a private school for children with special needs. Reports say Staff Members held the teen and punched him because he was acting aggressively. Also, witnesses heard the boy gasping and saying, get off me. I cant breathe. So far nobody has been charged in this case. The school has released a statement saying everybody there is saddened by the loss. The statement also says the board of directors and management have taken steps at wordsworth to advance our services to children. Calls are growing for philadelphias Police Department to stop posting mug shots on facebook. A new online petition blasted the departments special operations Facebook Page for its posts about accused drug dealers. The petition calls the practice public shaming and an invasion of privacy. Police tell us mug shots are public records and theyre released fairly with the best intentions. Philadelphia taxpayers are on the hook for nearly 3 million in Police Overtime costs for recent demonstrations and rallies. With that said, a spokesperson for mayor jim kenney says hes crediting police with protecting both citizens and freedom of expression in the days following the inauguration of donald trump. The main reaction from customers, all politicians should stop tweeting. The corner in center city is back open. It was closed for several hours yesterday because of falling ice. They took this video of ice falling between 12th and 13th streets. One woman walking in the area said plenty of people were yelling watch out. Its very loud once it falls, and you dont know whats going on and people are looking around. Its pretty scary. And its also scary if you were caught under it and it were to hit you in the head. Very true. Good news in this situation, nobody was hurt. Yesterday some of the sunshine may have helped to kind of loosen the ice so it could slide off. I think today it will melt it quickly because were going to start to see those temperatures pick up quite a bit.
