Not the kind of morning where you want to get out and do a lot of activities early on in your day or as we get into the later part of your day. The cold air will stick. Clear conditions. Clear overnight allows temperatures to plummet. Were talking cold conditions this morning that last through the rest of the day. One person is dead and another had to be flown to the hospital after a car crash in montgomery county. It happened just after midnight on route 422 in West Potts Grove township. The driver lost control and the car flipped over. 422 remains shut down in both directions. Tap the nabc 10 app. Developing news on President Trumps executive order on immigration. A ruling late yesterday from a federal judge is halting the order for now. The Trump Administration is already promising to fight back. The temporary restraining order was issued by a federal judge in Washington State yesterday and it applies nationwide. It will remain in effect until the judge hears the legal challenge from the state attorney general. Nbc 10 is live at Philadelphia International airport this morning to explain what this means for people heading in and out of the country. Reporter this all comes after Washington State and minnesota filed a joint lawsuit claiming that the travel ban for immigrants and refugees from seven mostly muslim countries was unlawful. Now, according to National Reports the government told airlines to start allowing travellers from those countries to board planes to the u. S. The president s order cancelled visas for tens of thousands of travellers. Its unclear when they can enter the u. S. We spoke with a retired new Jersey Superior Court judge and said this battle could end up in the u. S. Supreme court. This is a major issue. This is a constitutional issue. It has constitutional implications. Reporter and now following the judges ruling yesterday the white house issued this Statement Last night which reads in part quote the department of justice intends to file an emergency stay of this outrageous order and defend the executive order of the president which we believe is lawful and appropriate. The white house later reissued the statement without the word outrageous. This week we reported the order is affecting two syrian families who plan to visit our region but instead were told to go back to the middle east. New this morning out of south Jersey Police are investigating a shooting in voorhees, Camden County. A man was shot three times just before 11 00 last night. State police have now cleared the crime scene at the James Vaughn Correctional Center in smyrna. Building c where this happened has been turned back over to the department of corrections. Everybody knows your my hero emotions ran high last night during a vigil remembering steven floyd. Friends and family were on hand to honor the fallen correctional coworkers. One much his coworkers broke down while talking about floyds sacrifice. I wish to god it was me. Lieutenant floyds widow later embraced officer wilkinson. Floyd leaves behind three children and grandchildren. In dover the delaware state Capital Building was lit up in blue in honor of the fallen correctional officer. It comes after lieutenant floyd was given a promotion late yesterday. His family accepted a medal of valor. The highest honor a prison officer can receive. Meantime the nbc 10 investigators are asking whether lieutenant floyds death could have been prevented. More than a decade ago a hostage incident happened at the same prison. A counselor was taken hostage by an inmate and assaulted in an office. A task force recommended changes but they didnt go anywhere. State leaders are angling towards another review. Delaware state police will not say if the standoff was planned in advance however a former inmate tells nbc 10 that some prisoners were frustrated. He was isaiah say he and other inmates were not treated with dignity. He said he understands their frustration. This is supposed to be department of corrections. Supposed to correct. This morning Philadelphia Police are searching for a driver accused of hitting three people in west philadelphia. Police say a group of men and women were fighting on locust street yesterday afternoon. When some walked away investigators say a car came racing down the road, hit them and then sped off. The fight ended. People dispersed. Im assuming somebody called somebody, told them what happened, that person got angry and came there instead of doing the right thing decided to drive down the street like a maniac and run a bunch of people over. The car is a cream colored bmw. All three victims are expected to survive. We have details about the foiled terror attack near the Louvre Museum in paris. French Police Conducted several raids looking for accomplices. An egyptian man waved ma sheet and attacked four soldiers. He shouted in arabic god is good. Overall weve had a pretty mild winter and actually this period of cold conditions is not too long lasting. Certainly going to notice it this saturday. Heres what were looking at right now. The air feels like temperatures based off of the actual temperature and breeze thats picking up outside. Negative five degrees. Thats what it feels like right now in mount pocono. 9 in allentown. Lancaster at 9. Same for wilmington. We went through quite a few spots in Single Digits or below zero. Areas like philly, Atlantic City and millville, close to 10 degrees for what it feels like currently. Meaning put on a lot of layers if youre getting out early this morning.
