Theres a chance to see scattered afternoon showers and possibly Thunder Showers and most likely interior of new jersey. Cant rule out a shower for philadelphia and the suburbs. At the shore, cooler temperatures. On the beach today, forecast hour by hour and show you where the showers are likely to pop up. A few bumps in the road in the last hour but this is a live look at 95. This is southbound. Most of the traffic will see the most value at this hour. Headed into philadelphia no issues to report along the stretch of 95. 76 as you make your way eastbound no problems there. And then you make your way between the expressway and 95. A great drive there. All right moving into new jersey for all of you shore goeers this is a look at 76 right at the Atlantic City expressway. Very light traffic now. Its bound to change in a few hours as people make their way to the shore and finally if youre headed to the airport no major delays being reported at any of the major airports in our area. Police are telling us a 57yearold man just dropped off a group at a church around 10 00 last night. He was getting sbak into his van. This morning a man is in custody after a 4 hour standoff with police in delaware county. A s. W. A. T. Team moved in and made the arrest at the home in springfield last night. Earlier police say the man inside fired shots at officers. No one was hurt during the situation. Meantime three people shot on the streets are expected to survive. The victims are all men in their 20s. Police have not said what lead to the violence and theyre still looking for the shooter. What a beautiful start to the day. Ocean city new jersey. Look at the line of storms developing at 3 00 this afternoon. Those move out. Witnesses tell police that a car struck a victim. 57yearold man. He was getting into a van around 10 00 last night and died at the hospital. Police described the car that hit him as dark in color with front end damage and a possible flat tire. New from overnight Philadelphia Police are look for a gunman that robbed and shot a man on temple universitys campus on westmoreland street on the school of Health Science campus. The man shot the victim in the hip and took his phone and his wallet. The victim is not a temple student. He is recovering in stable condition at temple hospital. In other news now a High School Student in southwest philadelphia broke his jaw in a fight defending his teacher. The cool district says the teacher was trying to break up a fight when the crowd turned on him. The fight happened at Motivation School at 58th in baltimore. 9th grader Richard Williams stepped in to help his teacher. He was trying to do the right thing. He was trying to help his teacher. When you go to school the only thing you should have to worry about is learning. You shouldnt have to worry about safety or having to protect your teach frer from be assaulted. Williams father says hes filing a report with Philadelphia Police. Medical experts have found the first case of a drug resistant super bug in the united states. Doctors diagnosed a pennsylvania woman that had a bacteria that certain antibiotics cannot fight. Researchers determined the woman carried the strain of e. Coli resistant to antibiotic use as a last ditch effort to treat some super bugs. The case by itself is not cause for panic but the antibiotic resistant gene can spread to other types of bacteria already resistant to multiple drugs. The state is working closely with the cdc and the department of defense to come up with a response. We do a very comprehensive job so that we can have it and our children can have it. They have not said where the woman is from. Meanwhile theyre trying to figure out how the super bug got here. The woman had not travelled overseas in the last few months. They found it in pigs and a small number of people in china and popped up in europe and africa and canada before hitting the u. S. Preparations will really kick into high gear. Its like building a city within a city. You have to have a structure. Conventions are one part logistics. A city has to be able to support this 50,000 person start up that comes and flops down in the middle of your city.
