Theres a chance of a few more at 8 00 this morning. By 11 00, 56 degrees. No big warmups today. 40s and 50s to start with, upper 50s this afternoon with occasional light showers. Those showers are moving in from the west. You can see the light showers in delaware and into south jersey and into philadelphia, too. This is one line of steadier rain moving to the east at 30 miles an hour. When we went on the air its completely dry. Those showers have extended into new jersey. The number two good news, the crash i was watching on route 1 northbound as traffic was merging from 76 westbound has since cleared, over the last 15 minutes or so, the righthand lane and center lane were blocked and traffic, a lot of traffic on these two major roads had to merge on to thelanded la the lefthand lane. That has just cleared. There may be residual delays but things are looking good. There is construction on the pennsylvania turnpike eastbound between Virginia Drive, youll encounter it if you go through the ezc pass toll. Its on the shoulder until you get to route 1. Investigators are looking at whether a deadly attack at a train station near munich is tied to terrorism. Police say a 27yearold german man stabbed the first victim on a train, a second victim was targeted on the platform. The suspect stabbed two other men who were on bikes at the entrance to the station. Witnesses say the suspect was shouting god is great in arabic. Hes under arrest. So far, authorities have not called this a terror attack but they are on alert for lone wolf attacks. New this morning, a bike rider is in Critical Condition after a hit and run. You can see the mangled bike on the street at 52nd and spruce in the cobbs creek neighborhood of philadelphia. Officers were called to the scene around 2 30 this morning. Police are checking surveillance cameras in the area for images of the driver and the car. City leers in wilmington are urging parents to have conferences with their children about bullying. After a student died during a fight. The attack happened inside a bathroom at Howard High School of Technology Last month. Matt delucia is live in wilmington. Investigators say three girls planned the attack and now theyre all facing charges. And vai, tracy, all three of them are under the age of 18. Prosecutors say one of them hit the victim repeatedly in the head and torso with a closed fist. Prosecutors say that one suspect, a 16yearold, is facing a charge of criminally negligent homicide. She could face up to eight years in prison. The two others face criminal conspiracy charges. Wilmington councilwoman and family friend, Sherry Dorsey walker, says the victim has a strong and loving family thats come together in the midst of this tragedy. We have to be mindful of the fact that these are girls who did this, young ladies who there are people in the community who are doing Different Things and saying Different Things about them. We as a Community Need to recognize and realize what are we doing to make a difference in the lives of our young people . Prosecutors fond the medical examiner has a preexisting heart condition, thats how she died but the physical an emotional stress of the attack contributed to her death. Prosecutors met with the victims mother and brother yesterday. According to that family friend you just heard from, they are still, as you can imagine, heart broken. 6 05. Now to a story we brought you as breaking news yesterday at this time. Authorities captured arthur buckle yesterday morning along the garden state parkway in lacey township, ocean county. He had dodged search teams since breaking out of the ancora unit of bayside state prison in hammonton last week. Buckle was serving time for assault and other crimes. He previously spent 14 years in prison for killing a baby. Neighbors told us they are relieved the manhunt is over. Were glad they got him. But it is pretty scary its this close. It was unnerving that he was just getting away. Now thatc its over, thank god buckle was days away from a parole hearing within he escaped. He faces new charges now and could spend an additional three to five years in prison. Authorities have taken the third person into custody in connection with the assault of two Philadelphia School police officers. Police arrested 23yearold edwin burgos yesterday. He is charged with aggravated assault and other offenses. His arrest stems from this brawl here which happened may 2nd outside of northeast high school. Investigators say it started when officers stepped in to stop two men from beating up a student. Thats when the third man got involved. One officer suffered a broken jaw, the other had a sprained ankle and some bruises. Delaware lawmakers decide if good evening gay should no longer be considered grounds for divorce. The legislature would vote on a bill that would strike that from the definition of marital misconduct. That misconduct includes adultery, criminal con vicks and drug use. If youre headed on 70 in north jersey, theres a crash around haddonfield road. If youre headed to either of these majors in jersey, things are looking good. Average speeds in the mid to upper 60s. No crashes to tell you about. Fingers crossed that that continues. Between route 55 and the walt whitman bridge, that will take you about five minutes. Check your area bridges. And so basically what you have is unfortunately route 70 is closed in both directions between Cooper Landing road and haddonfield road. Not a crazy long stretch but crucial enough to people who are taking route 70 as they get to work or school this morning. This is because of a downed pole and wires affecting travel in both directions. When i see you in about nine, ten minutes, ill have alternates around this. This happened not too long ago. Definitely expect delays. Moving into center city philadelphia, a few delays on the vine street expressway as you merge on to 76 but things are looking pretty good. The vine was closed overnight for some overnight construction but that opened around 5 00, 5 30 and everything on the vine is running smoothly. If youre driving on the pennsylvania turnpike, new this morning as of the last half hour, theres construction as you head eastbound on the turnpike between Virginia Drive and the exit for route 1. Tell us how these fish are fighting zeke ra. Reporter good morning. The fish are actually going to be the eating the larvae of the mosquitos. By the end of next week, 10,000 of them will be released in retention basins throughout the county. The centers for Disease Control and prevention has been tracking the mosquitos that can transmit the zika virus. Based on their monitoring system, those mosquitos can be found all throughout new jersey, delaware and pennsylvania. Health officials, though, say this does not mean that the mosquitos will cause disease. These mosquitos would have to bite someone who is already infected in order to spread the virus. I did some more checking around with the cdc. As of may 4th, there have been 472 reported cases of the zika virus in the u. S. All of those cases can be related back to travel. He told agents that he told lawmakers hed create the bogus firm in exchange for money. The philadelphia street commissioner charged with assault is off the job until further notice. Sources close to the investigation told nbc 10 that carlton thought a man kissed his wife. The alleged victim said he suffered a black eye and fractured rib. A neighbor told us she witnessed the attack. Just heard a loud noise and people screaming. When i looked out the window, because you can see from there, i just seen someone falling over. A grandfather tries to work with his Credit Card Company after getting duped into paying callers that convinced him he had computer problems. Nbc 10 respond stepped in to help. Reporter it was a call right before dinner that got ed horowitz worried about his computer. Not knowing any better, i got concerned. Reporter he didnt agree to the service, the caller said i wont be able to use my commuter anymore. Reporter he gave the callers his credit card information hoping theyd fix the problems but the calls kept coming. Two weeks later they called me again, two weeks later, they called me a third time. Reporter it wasnt until his son, ian, noticed what was going on, that horowitz realized he was being taken. Charges popped up on his citi card. Totaling more than 900. Horowitz called the police which told him to call his Credit Card Company and report the fraudulent charges. Citi initially removed the charges but then put them back on his card. Their explanation was, you willingly gave him your credit card numbers. Thats part of the scam. Reporter thats when he called nbc 10 responds. I wanted to get help. I wanted to get out from underneath this burden. Thats 1,000. I dont work. Reporter we reached out to citi. Citi reached back out to horowitz. Fortunately, nbc 10 got involved. Now everything is changing. Reporter a full refund of the charges. Back to horowitz account. When he started getting calls from another supposed tech support company. I told them to get lost and hang up on them. Reporter Harry Hairston, nbc 10 responds. Citi credited all 967 back to horowitzs account. In a statement, citi tells nbc 10 responds it advises card members to take precautions against scams, including treating unsolicited calls with skeptici skepticism. The state division of fish, game and wildlife will begin releasing 10,000 mosquitoeating fish in retention basins throughout the county. Mosquitos are capable of carrying the virus which can be found throughout new jersey, delaware and pennsylvania. Health Officials Say this doesnt mean that mosquitos will cause the disease. These mosquitos would have to bite someone who is already infected with the virus in order to spread it. The cdc reports there have been 427 cases of zika in the u. S.
