Will mi an inch for pottstown, by midnight and then early tomorrow morning 1, 2, possibly 3 inches of rain if this comes together. The temperature is still falling. Look at the fog from trenton, northeast philadelphia into burlington county, mount holly and wilmington getting into the act now with light fog there. So fog to start with, and then our attention turns to this. Rain is farther to the north and west. Should stay dry for most areas through the morning. But as we go into the afternoon the chance of rain will be increasing and while thats a view of city hall. Right in here. Like a magician made that disappear. The fog is thick to start. It wont last all day. Cloudy skies, areas of fog. As the temperature climbs the fog will disappear. You can see were adding about 10 minutes or so to your commute right around 422. Following this breaking from overnight. Temple University Students are on edge after a student was sexually assaulted near campus. Katy is live on campus, she talked to students already. Reporter tracy, this is alarming and frightening news coming in to students. They are waking up checking phones and got this alert around 2 30 this morning. We have the text of the alert that went out. Basically it tells students that Philadelphia Police in conjunction with Temple University police are investigating an Armed Robbery api Sexual Assault of a female temple student. And students here on temples campus and who live and work throughout the area are asked to use caution and report any suspicious activity to Temple University police. It happened on the 1400 block of carlyle street a few blocks south of temples campus. I was there not long ago. I can tell you that area is well lit, there are a number of security cameras, theres also one of those ubiquitous blue lights you often find on college campuses, blue emergency lights not far from the street with this happened. I talked to students leaving their apartments headed to work or to school early this morning, they say they are absolutely frightened to hear of this and they are going to be more vigilant. We are trying to get more information on the specifics of the age of the student, and the condition of her this morning as well as any information about the suspect. We reached out to Temple Police as well as philadelphia spu. Katy zachry, nbc 10 news. Happening today a second defendant in the deadly Center City Building collapse goes on trial. Jesse gary is live for us at the accident site at 22nd and market. That area is now a memorial. Reporter thats right, vai. You can see they cleared the ground a bit and planted one tree so far, the first of several planned for this memorial. They hope that one day in the not too distant future they will complete the park of healing and remembrance. Jury selection beginning in the trial of Griffin Campbell the contractor who headed the illfated demolition. June of 2013, campbell was the contractor who hired shawn beenschop who was performing demolition on the building. The Sandwich Shop and Salvation Army thrift store share add common wall. The equipment destabilized the wall leading to the collapse of the store. Six people killed, dozens more injured. Just before the trial was set to start this past summer the 44yearold beenschop pleaded guilty to charges. He admitted that he knew the demolition should have been done by hand not with an excavator. In return he will testify against campbell in the case that starts today. I spoke to campbells attorney in the summer months, he told me his client did nothing wrong. He laid the blame for all of this at the feet of bens chop facing 10 to 20 years when he is sentenced. Its 6 35. The message of peace and unity may not have resonated with all. Some calling out mayor nutter over the business during the papal visit. While they point fingers at the mayor he pointed his at the media. I think that in some instances you all scared the [ bleep ] out of people with some of the stories. Business owners say they didnt see the crowds expected and some say they lost money this weekend. We were thinking that we were going to get a nice still over. We were anticipating nice crowds in the area, we geared up for. That brought in extra supplies, we brought in extra grocery supplies. We brought in so much liquor and beer and food wise that we wanted to make sure we made it through the weekend and we have plenty left. From our delaware bureau, a New Castle County council man is calling for a federal investigation into a Deadly Police shooting. Nbc 10 obtained the video and it shows a portion of the shooting that happened on tulip street. We blurred the victims face and frozen the video to be sensitive to his family but you can hear how the shooting unfolded. Jeremy mcdole was in a wheelchair hen weigh was shot. Police say he had a gun and did not obey orders to put the weapon down. His family is asking why police opened fire and jea street sent a letter to the Justice Department that reads in part the footage is more horrific than the footage from other jurisdictions where the department of justice found it necessary to intervene. The situation cries out for a fair, impartial and unbiased investigation. The department the Delaware Department of justice is investigating. The Wilmington Police chief told us he believes the four officers involved in the shooting acted professionally and according to protocol they are on leave. The fbi director is promising more reliable information on Police Shootings of civilians yesterday. James comey said that he is urging all Law Enforcement agencies to collect data to dispel rumors and encourage accountability. Comey announced the fbi will begin publishing information that details when police use force. 6 38. Its a warm and muggy start and we have areas of fog this morning. Thick fog to start with that will be clearing. The skies will not clear. In fact, showers this afternoon. Heavy downpours and possibly some thunderstorms too. Heading out the door now, 66 in doylestown, philadelphia is at 68 degrees. Millville also in the 60s with areas of fog and one of those areas, the pocono mountains, a view from sky top lodge. Closer to sun rise its brightening up but the fog is the thick this morning. And the fog is not going to be here all day but it will be thinning out, quakertown has half mile visibility, coatesville thick fog, trenton quarter mile and the fog is light now in dover. One mile visibility there. Fog to start with, then showers. You can see them to the west this morning. There are more on the way. This activity will stay to the northwest. As the showers to the south that could be here during the afternoon. In fact, noon time we might see the first raindrops coming into the area. That is wilmington getting the first raindrops at noon. Light rainfall for much of the area. But there could be moderate showers as we go into the later afternoon. This ievening the heavier rain moves in. In the 70s for camelback, bethlehem and fleetwood. 80s, though, for bordentown, and abington up to 83. A chance of showers inland, less likely to see rain right along the coast. Avalon 80 and in the low 80s for symrna and millville. Inland umbrellas later today after a foggy start this morning, the fog will clear but the clouds will be hanging in for most of the day. Low 80s for malvern to wilmington. Up to 84 in woodstown. There is more wet weather ahead. Part coming from potentially a Tropical Storm. Actually, accidents and volume is normal. Right. Its not normal for us to see nothing going on. And blank cameras. 422 around trooper road an accident involving several vehicles, some crew on the scene here. About three vehicles or so, there are pedestrians out now Walking Around so something to watch for. You want to be careful heading through. They are taking out the lefthand lane and shoulder and part of the next lane over. So everybody squeezing by. 20 minute drive time now because of this. And its turning red so that means were getting heavier from 29 to the schuylkill expressway. If youre headed east. If you are on the schuylkill expressway, so far you can see were starting to see red in certain spots through the conshohocken curve where were flying by eastbound and westbound, slowing pretty much the same speeds now. 23 minutes at the most from the blue route to the vine street expressway. Its 68 degrees to start with, well be in the 80s this afternoon. Look at the clouds on the pocono mountains, maybe thin spots and see sunshine at times but mostly a cloudy day. Later on those clouds start to produce rain. Right now its fog. Half mile visibility in quakertown. Some of the thickest in northeast philadelphia, mount holly and trenton. Trenton a quarter mile. Dense fog there. Up der a mile for millville, dover and thicker. The clouds will hang in there and then the radar. Look at the rain. Just to the west, to the south. Thats a cold front edging our way the next couple days, thats going to give us potential for heavy rainfall tonight. Its going to combine with the rain and moisture to the south. Most of the day that rain stays out of the picture. Warm muggy conditions at 7 00, well see some showers. Starting in the area at that hour and the heavier rainfall comes in overnight for philadelphia into new jersey and delaware, and especially for areas north and west. The heavy rain continues through the night and into tomorrow morning. Probably some thunderstorms out of it tonight. And during the day tomorrow well get breaks in the rain. Students are waking up to alarming news this morning after learning one of their classmates, a female student, was robbed and sexually assaulted on the 1400 block of carlyle street about two to three blocks south of campus. Students are waking up to texts and emails of this alert saying that Philadelphia Police have notified Temple Police that they are investigating an Armed Robbery and Sexual Assault of a female student, students are being urged to use caution and report any suspicious activity to Temple Police.
