Hes facing the Death Penalty. This comes a day after his parents pleaded for his life. His mother saying her son is not a monster. Reporter it was the first time we heard from eric freins family on the stand. It came the same day we learned that frein is on suicide watch and has not slept in nearly a week. In a rare gesture of emotion, convicted cop killer eric frein wiped a tear away as his mother spoke to the jury about his solitary childhood, his inability to read until sixth grade. She asked for his life to be spared. Last week the 33yearold was found guilty by a jury of capital murder and attempted murder in the 2014 ambush shooting two of Pennsylvania State troopers. Freins defense team is trying to convince the same jury that he should get life in prison instead of the Death Penalty each though theres a moratorium on executions in pennsylvania. His father also testified on his behalf, telling jurors, i failed eric as a father. I failed him by not pushing him harder. If he had a plan to shoot or kill anybody, i would have stopped him. I think that it was important that the jury meet the frein family. It was important that they understand what was going on in the frein household all those years. Heres what we know prosecutors say creato killed his 3yearold son brendan to keep a relationship going with a teenage girlfriend. Last week, the boys mother told jurors that creatos theory of a spirit drawing brendan into the woods where he was found dead in 2015 was odd and unexplainable. New from overnight, an 87yearold man in Critical Condition after crews rescued him from a house fire in wilmington. Sky force 10 over the scene on belmont drive. Investigators dont yet know the cause of the fire. Sky force 10 also in Montgomery County last night. Crews put out a fire at the Fine GrindingCorporation Building in conshohocken. Arkansas carries out the first double execution in the United States in more than a decade. Marcell williams and jack jones were put to death on the same gurney just hours apart last night. Arkansas plans another execution on thursday. Federal immigrants agents are trying to get custody of an undocumented immigrant accused of getting a teen on his soccer team pregnant.
