But first, Jessica Boyington has your first alert traffic. Boulevard starting with construction just between broad and ridge avenue, were down to one lane and that is the southbound side. Traffic moving toward the schuylkill expressway. Might see a little bit of a delay, but thankfully it will be cleared around 5 30 about that so that is right before the morning rush. You can see that were blocked off, one lane getting by and a little slow, but no backups or delays again southbound side of the boulevard. Were also watching the rest of the drive times in the area. In new jersey, 42 freeway, 5 minutes from 55 to the bridge. Rest of the new jersey roads are okay. This is at cross keys road. In berlin new jersey, maybe a car or two moving around. Were following breaking news this morning as tens of thousands of people hit the streets again to protest the president ial election. You can see some of the election elections turned violent. This is portland, oregon where police say things started peacefully. Weve seen protests carried out for a second night across a number of cities nationwide. Pamela osborne is live in in the breaking news center with more. Whats the update . Well, protesters have taken to the streets in cities all across the country. But right now were keeping a close eye on what is happening in portland. Police are calling the demonstrations there a riot. Within the past hour, Portland Police say they have deployed pepper spray and rubber baton rounds to try to get a handle over the crowd. Last night a crowd filled the streets in portland. This is video from the nbc affiliate there. It started as a peaceful protest and then things turned unruly and heated with people smashing four windows. Police called it awry the on ri they moved in to stop some of the vandalism. At one point protesters tried to take over an interstate highway forcing officials to shut down a portion of the road. And then there was this person in portland caught on camera taking out his anger with a baseball bat. Hes hitting an electrical box and you can see the sparks flying there wil crowds cheer. And in oakland, california, a third night of protests drew hundreds of people downtown. Some of the marchers managed to shut down a freeway until Law Enforcement cleared them out. Police say they made several arrests. Protesters also marched in deny version minneapolis, washington, d. C. , new york and several other cities chanting antitrump slogans. Last night trump tweeted just had a very open and successful election now professional protesters incited by the media are protesting, very unfair. President elect trump also tweeted about his meeting with president obama as you heard there. He said the two had a great meeting and great chemistry. The two sat down in front of cameras and micro phones inside the oval office. Mr. Trump a long time denier of the president s american birth and president obama who has called trump unfit to be president had a cordial meeting. Sounds like the meeting might have been at least a little less awkward that some might have expected. And Melania Trump toured the east wing with the first lady and jared kushner, mr. Trumps soninlaw, was seen walking with president obamas chief of staff. Trumps then went to capitol hill meeting with Senate Majority leader Mitch Mcconnell and getting a look at where president elect trump will be sworn in. President elect trump laid out his top priorities. He says expect immigration reform, Health Care Overhaul and more jobs. In philadelphia, there is uncertainty over how the citys sanctuary city status will work with trumps immigration policies. Plus will there are concerns about the promised end to obamacare. What does trumpcare look like and how do the most poor and vulnerable members of the Philadelphia Community deal with whatever those changes end up being. Under Donald Trumps presidency, refugee could end up with a new governor if Chris Christie gets a cabinet job. Christie already has access to the nations highest security cle clearances. And banking leaders are monitoring how a trump plan and deregulation could provide a boost for them. Pat toomey is looking ahead to his second term after his reelection victory in pennsylvania. The republican beat democrat Katie Mcginty in a race this that featured frequent attack adds. Too ma ta ads. Toomey says he expects to have a good working relationship with president elect trump after toomey criticized mr. Trump during the campaign. Toomey says he will remain an independent voice for pennsylvania. There will be times when i will disagree with donald trump as i have in recent months. And when i disagree, i will say so. I will not be a rubber stamp for anyone. Toomey expects to meet with president elect next week. A leading new jersey democrat is calling for lawmakers to consider impeachment proceedings against governor Chris Christie. Moloretta weinberg says ther was testimony that christie knew about the plans to close the lanes on the bridge. Any impeachment proceedings would begin in the assembly where the speaker says the lawmakers are weighing all potential legislative activity. Christie spokesperson said the call for impeachment is ridiculous. Christie has denied any knowledge of those lane closures. And new this morning, police are looking for the gunman who shot a 17yearold in north philadelphia. The teen told investigators that he was shot while running away from a man who tried to rob him last night near broad and erie. He was hit in the buttocks and ran home. When police found him and took him to the hospital, is he is listed in stable condition. A newsletter from the union says members will receive a 10. 5 raise over the next five years. Health insurance is going up 2. 5 by 2019. There will also be an increase in pension payments. One thing that is not changing, break times. Union members were fighting for longer break times. Members will vote on that deal next week. Police are searching for robbers who tied up a 69yearold man and stole tens of thousands of dollars from his home. The victim says the two robbers knocked on his door in bustle ton. When he opened the door, they pushed him to the ground and zip tied his hands and searched his home. Robbers got away with 98,000 in cash and jewelry. Heading out right now, we have a chilly breeze blowing. And the wind is only going to be increasing. And veterans day winds will keep temperatures on the cool side this afternoon especially after we peak in the low 60s right around midday. And then a big temperature drop heading th head into tonight. And tomorrow morning, lower 30s for most of the area. 40s this morning. Just shy of 50 in philadelphia. No real cold air in new jersey. Most locations in the 40s right now. Turnersville, medford is 45. These numbers will warm to near 60 this afternoon. But the winds will be shifting. Well see a nice warmup into the low 60s, which is a little above normal for this time of year. But once those winds shift this afternoon, thats when the temperatures start coming down. That is typical with the cold front passing. So are clouds or rain or even possibly snow, but not this time around. We wont see any wet weather with this. All well get are the gusty winds and we will see the temperatures drop late in the day. Philadelphia, 50 degrees at 8 00 this morning. And there is your 61 degrees at noon. But look at 4 00, we wont see that continued warming during the afternoon hours. 56 late in the afternoon. So once the wind shift, the colder air starts to take hold. 4 00 this afternoon, 53. And youll see a similar temperature curve for the Lehigh Valley. 40s in the morning, 56 degrees at lunchtime and then very low 50s at 4 00 and the temperatures will plummet overnight tonight. Delaware, youll see plenty of sunshine. Winds will below, a few scattered clouds around lunchti lunchtime. It will take more time for the colder air to work it way to delaware, but by late in the afternoon, youll notice the difference and winds will be gusting to near 30 Miles Per Hour in delaware and in new jersey. Temperatures peak in new jersey at noontime, cooler late in the afternoon and youll see it at the shore a bit later in the afternoon. Noontime 60 degrees and still close to 60 by 4 00. The weekend forecast definitely capitol hi chillier. That when i come back. 5 10 on this friday. And were taking a look at the schuylkill. Jessica boyington has cameras focused there. Schuylkill around belmont avenue, just a couple cars going both directions, but lets look at the drive times in to center city. Eastbound from the blue route to the vine street expressway, 12 minute trip. This is the last day for the construction in university city, 33rd street is closed between market and arch street. We can expect it to be rear by tomorrow morning. And this is route 38 in new jersey around haddonfield road. Maybe a car going either direction. And well end with mass transit. Everything pretty much on time or close to schedule for septa which again strike is obviously over. So everything back in business through center city with no problems there. And so this veterans day, we honor those who seven our country, but also those who continue to serve. Mans best friend is more than a companion for vets injured fighting for the country. Matt delucia is live at Independence Mall this morning. You spoke with a veteran from our area about a program that united him with a service dog. Tell us more. Reporter right, there are plenty of veterans in our area and we met one of them up in bethlehem, we thanked him for his service, but today hes thanking his four legged friend. Dan and wally are inseparable. Knowing that hes by my side, knowing that i can rely on him. Reporter the 11yearold black lab is there for support in more ways than one. I got injured in 2004, i lost my left leg in afghanistan. Reporter disabled and depressed, dans therapist recommended something new at the time, a service dog for combat wounded vets. And i applied and two years later, i received wally. Reporter wally started his training off the battlefield with americas vet dogs in new york. Dogs like wally are trained to help with basic tasks like picking up keys. Good boy, thank you. Reporter and getting off the ground. I push off of him, use him as a crutch. Reporter together they are a team. Kind of like a dating service. They kind of match you up with the dog. Reporter a ray of sunshine when he needed it most. I wouldnt be where i am today without have wally in my life. All the great things that ive done in the past eight years from running races together, weve been on tv together, done a lot of things together. And people need to know that they really improve life for the disabled veterans. Reporter and soon wally will be a veteran in his own right. He will retire in a year or two to live out his days wagging his tail much like this flag. And there is a waiting list to receive one of these canines. So traffic moving toward the Lehigh Valley around mile marker 53. So right lane is blocked there. Traffic still is moving by, so no massive delays on or around or approaching the scene. There is construction on the boulevard southbound right good broad street and ridge avenue. So that is traffic that is moving towards the schuylkill expressway. Not seeing any big plays there. Supposed to clear around the 5 30 mark. Also watching 95 through delaware, no problems here. Well end with ten minutes in the north and southbound side from 295 to 495 and speeds also into the 60s. More when i come back. Bill, i heard you Say Something was peaking at noon. I couldnt hear whether it was the temperature or the wind or maybe both. Yeah, you know, it will be very close to both. Well see an increasing wind and temperatures this morning. Right now easton is chilly in the 40s. Not quite as cold as yesterday. But the wind is blowing in easton and wilmington, too. Well see a lot of sunshine. The temperatures right now are in the tourts. Pretty uniform, 45 degrees in the Lehigh Valley, 49 degrees in philadelphia, south jersey, right in between at 47. Delaware, 45 with the wind blowing, you wont see a wide range of temperatures though. Harmony hills is at 47. A little farther to the south, you will find some 50s. Felton is 44. And also lincoln. Lewis and Rehoboth Beach closer to the 50 degree mark. We will see the temperatures climb during the morning, but then this afternoon there are some changes. 9 00 this morning, winds will be westerly. The wind is going to shift, though. Well see sunshine, there are some clouds to the north, well be watching for those, 54 in philadelphia at 9 00. And again pretty uniform temperatures because of the steady wind keeping every temperature just about the same territory. Now well fast forward to noontime, lunchtime 12 00, look at those winds. They shift, they become more it northwester northwesterly. They will blow clouds through the area. That is a cooled front that comes through right around lunchtime. So well watch the temperatures at lunchtime come down during the afternoon. Look at the cooldown by 4 00, well now see 40s in the Lehigh Valley, suburbs 52 in philadelphia and that chilly air at that time will just be reaching the shore. But the chilliness, that really takes hold tonight. By late tonight, 10 00, look at the 30s and just 40 in philadelphia. Even at the shore, the temperatures are much chillier. So things will be changing in a hurry today as this cold front that is just to the north swings through the area. I dont think well get the showers, but we will feel the chill in the air just in time for the weekend. Cold in the morning in the 30s and chilly afternoon in the upper 40s and low 50s. Rebound sunday afternoon, but sunday morning will be cold. Check it out on the 10 day on 10, veterans day, perfect, 62 degrees, winds blowing the flag. But it does get chillier during the afternoon hours. And then 30s tomorrow morning and then again sunday morning. Clouds building on monday, a chance well see some showers on tuesday. But the rebound that p happens on sunday, temperaturewise stays with us monday. The rain will bring temperatures down for tuesday, but then back in the low 60s for wednesday, thursday and friday.
