Well, bill, we are watching an accident scene this early friday morning on the platt bridge. Actually right up ahead over here underneath our graphic you can see a little bit of flashing lights. Thats the westbound side of the platt bridge. Its blocked off right now. At the bottom you can see them blocking the ram. Police activity on the scene. That accident scene occurred and now we have no traffic moving, again, westbound on the platt bridge. Eastbound lanes are open right now. Still, this may be something if you head westbound on the platt in your morning commute, youll want to take anc alternate. Thats taking the girard point bridge this morning. Out in south philadelphia, still watching this accident scene on columbus boulevard, thats closed at oregon avenue. Your best bet, you can see its in this general area. Take Delaware Avenue and youll be fine. For the most part, not a lot of volume in the area. 95 is looking okay and in the green if you want to jump on a highway. Two people are dead in south philadelphia after a onecar crash along columbus boulevard. Nbc 10s Deanna Durante is live at the scene. What do we know so far . We do know two women are being treated at philadelphia hospitals. It appears as though the majority of the victims involved in the crash are philadelphia residents. Police tell us they are still trying to identify one of the passengers killed in this crash. Two people are dead. Two people are in the hospital. The two people in the front seat of this 2005 mazda are being treated at two different hospitals this morning. The car was heading south on columbus boulevard, it hit the center median, the car flipped over at some point and also crashed into the corner of this building. This building appears to be a peco facility. Police tell us it does not appear anyone was inside. Witnesses that were on columbus boulevard that saw the car both before and after the crash, say they do believe that the car had been speeding. When i pulled up, the driver was laid across the front. The taxi cab driver stopped immediately after me. Actually i was already stopped and out of the car by the time he pulled up. He took her out of the car, the driver. The taxi cab driver took her out of the car . Right. Reporter again, the driver of this vehicle, 23yearold woman and her passenger both being treated at philadelphia hospital. The two back seat passengers, we are told, were killed, pronounced here on the scene. Accident investigators trying to figure out if speed was a factor in this crash, if there were any other factors. Philadelphia inspectors are inspecting the building. It doesnt appear anybody was inside the building, however, there is Surveillance Video police are looking at that they have from this building here as well as from one of the witnesses. The woman accused of kidnapping a newborn from the king of prussia mall was held in the Montgomery County prison. She posted bail. Shes schedule for a preliminary hearing a week from today. According to investigators, shes the woman in this Surveillance Video. The babys mother says amore befriend her at a Jewelry Store in the mall and followed her and her familyc to the food court before stealing the baby right from his stroller. Today its time for the National Champion villanova wildcats to celebrate their success. The team and fans are getting ready for a victory parade in philadelphia. Heres a look at the parade route. It stretches five blocks. The parade begins at 1 00 this afternoon at 20th and market streets. From there, the parade will march through center city and end at dilworth park in front of city hall. Yesterday, nbc 10 fond crews putting the finishing touches on preparations for todays victory celebration. Fortunately they had to do it in the rain. Good thing today will be dry. Barricades are in place along the route. It will end up at dilworth park, where head coach jay wright and the villanova players are expected to speak at a rally. Some students in New Castle County are better prepared for an emergency today after taking part in a very realistic disaster drill. Students and staff lockdown as an incruder is in the main hallway. Thats what signified a lock john for students and staff yesterday as police carried out an active Shooter Training drill at Alfred Waters Middle School in middletown. State police flooded the ha hallway. Theyll be ready and their body will act on instinct the. The preparation that this School District does is phenomenal. Wed like to see more schools get on board with it. State police tell us that the students learned three key points from the disaster drill, know the plan, stay silent and follow every instruction. This morning, we are learning that amtrak workers are now taking part in safety reviews. This is all in response to a federal order following sundays deadly train crash in delaware county. The fra told amtrak to go over track safe ten communication protocols with its staff. This comes as investigators are looking into sundays crash in chester, delaware conte, that killed two rail workers. Part of the fra directive obtained by nbc 10 reminds amtrak that it must notify workersc if there are changes any job site and that track should not reopen until workers leave the area. There are operating rules in effect, which would certainly have prevented this accident had all of the rules been followed. One amtrak official tells nbc 10 that he agrees with the need to review safety rules and says that amtrak is working to implement a new compliance program. Today a Flight Attendant accused of trying to smuggle drugs into the country is due in court for another bail hearing. Prosecutors say marsha gay reynolds allegedly tried to bring 70 pounds of cocaine through security at lax several weeks ago. She managed to leave the airport andfully to new york where she turned herself into authorities. Reynolds is back in los angeles where a bail hearing is schedule for today. Another postindictment hearing is scheduled for latter this month on april 22nd. Officials are concerned that the warmer weather could bring an invasion of the zika virus to our region this summer. Montgomery county Health Officials warn its possible that the mosquitoborn virus could come to the philadelphia area. There are no mosquitoborn cases in the u. S. Pennsylvania does have a dozen confirmed cases of people affected who had travelled to other parts of the world. One kind of mosquito that could carry the virus is in the u. S. The centers for Disease Control say the range that insect could potentially extend into parts of pennsylvania, including philadelphia and all of new jersey and delaware.
