Someone shot the teen in the head last night in north philadelphia. Nbc 10s katy zachry joins us live. What are police saying about the crime and the victim . Reporter tracy and chris, talking about the victim first, we know he is still in extremely Critical Condition at the hospital. When i last talked to detectives this morning about a half hour ago, they told me they are still trying to determine a motive for this shooting as well as track down witnesses. Which is so key to solving this crime. Here is video from the scene. The victim just 14 years old. He was found lying in the middle of north tenth street around 8 30 last night. Right in front of a Philadelphia Housing Authority police building. Investigators tell us he was shot once in the forehead. They did find a bb gun wrapped up in his clothes but Police Believe he was injured by a revolver. Presently he is in the emergency room being worked on by doctors, he has a gunshot wound to his forehead. He has never regained consciousness. He is in very Critical Condition. Its unknown whether or not hes going to survive. Reporter that update from the chief inspector from a few hours ago but were told the teen is still in extremely Critical Condition. Investigators at the scene also told us they were looking at some surveillance cameras that were located several blocks from where that happened. But you would think there would be cameras closer to the scene considering he was shot and found in front of the Philadelphia Housing Authority building. A federal judge will sentence a former army major and his wife convicted of child abuse. John and Carolyn Jackson abused their children by breaking their bones, denying them medical attention, withholding water and force feeding them hot sauce. The case falls under federal jurisdiction because the crimes were committed on the military base in morris county. From the south jersey bureau, a familys search for justi justice. They want to find the driver that struck and killed their loved one and kept going. Ivan was riding his bike when a car hit him from behind. He was only two blocks from his home. This morning a Business Owner in north philadelphia wants your help to catch a thief who made off with thousands of dollars in construction equipment. Look at this video here, this is the burglary in progress. The owner says the suspect made his way over a 15foot fence and made off with those tools sunday morning. The owner also says the tools were worth about 3,000 and hes trying to figure out who stole them. I feel bad but you know, like disrespect people you know. When you try to do something, you try living honest, hard work. He has to shut down his business without those tools and that he vale to buy new ones in order to get back to work. For ongoing construction in new jersey we have a few patches of it. So route 322, around 54, we have a traffic shift to watch out for that. And the 42 freeway, dealing with big construction this morning, southbound between 295 and creek road. There will be three lanes closed with intermitt tent stoppages as well. This from the south jersey bureau. 30 million denied to the city of camden. The city was in the running for a federal grant from the u. S. Department of housing and urban development but camden leaders learned that the city lost out to atlanta and other cities for the money. The city officials had planned to use the grant to build new homes and schools and to improve parks. A spokesperson says the city will apply for the grant again next year. Speaking of money, from the jersey shore bureau, the committee thats in charge of saving lucy the elephant is saying no to a donation from peta. Officials at peta wanted to promote awareness of the treatment of circus animals in exchange for a donation. The renovation would include shackling one of her feet and adding a tear drop below her eye. Lucys board declined saying she must always be a happy elephant, a happy place for children to visit.
