Surveillance videotape stabbed the cashier. Investigators say the suspect had a 48inch flat screen tv and boots and was on his way out of the store. When confronted by the cashier, he presented an old 10 receipt. The cashier told him the receipt wasnt authentic. At that point, this male threatened the cashier. The male said im going to kill you, and then he pulled out a folding knife and lunged it toward the chest of the cashier. The cashier blocked that lunge of the knife with his right arm and was stabbed in the right arm. Reporter the suspect fled with the flat screen but not before a customer in the parking lot attempted to block his cart with his car with a shopping cart. The suspect then drove away in a lightcolored hatchback toyota prius. Now, we spoke to police about incidents like this occurring just weeks before the holiday season. Police say the victims sister exchanged gunfire with the kidnapper. No one was hurt but as the suspect drove off with the victim, he crashed into aing near gerard college. The victim is hospitalized in stable condition. They did track down the suspect and he is in custody. In fact, wilmington is 61, already 62 in millville and Atlantic City and 58 in allentown which will warm into the lower 60s today. So sunshine will be right, 64 degrees at 1 00. Investigators hope toxicology reports will give them some clues in the mysterious death of a threeyearold Camden County boy. The initial autopsy on Brendan Creato was inconclusive, meaning it offered no definitive cause in his death. Police found brendans body Tuesday Morning on the banks of the cooper river in Haddon Township about a half mile from his home. Three hours earlier, his father called 911 to report him missing. Sources tell nbc 10 that detectives believe the boys body was placed where it was found. Investigators say toxicology result cans often take as long as 30 days but in this case the state lab may frost track them. Happening now, Opening Statements are under way in the federal tax and Bank Fraud Trial of chaka fattah, jr. , hes accused of misusing federal education contracts and loans to pay personal expenses. He denies the charges. The 33yearold, who is representing himself, says prosecutors unfairly targeted him, adding the governments case is weak and he is eager to prove it. Fattah, jr. , faces jail time and a fine of up to 13 million. His father, congressman fattah, is charged in a different case. His trial is not scheduled to begin until next spring. And heres more details on the charges against him. According to the indictment, fattah, sr. , is accused of misusing his congressional influence, stealing taxpayer money and charitable donations. Hes also accused of accepting a secret Million Dollar Campaign Loan and taking a bribe from a lobbyist who wanted to be an ambassador. He has denied all of the charges. Congressman fattah is married to nbc 10 anchor Renee Chenault fattah. She is referenced as personal e in the complaint against her husband and an affiliate of the fattah enterprise. The feds allege she took part in a scheme to fraudulently sell a car in order to pay Closing Costs on a vacation home. She is not charged and denies wrongdoing. Renee is on leave from nbc 10. We have just learned in the last few hours that Ryder University suspended its entire mens Cross Country team after members planned to run around the track naked. Now, this school in lawrence township, mercer county, launched an investigation after the students were found on the track back on september 5. They had alcohol in their possession at the time and that investigation found members did not intend to coerce any runners to participate in the naked run but the university concluded the behavior was unacceptable and considered hazing. Philadelphia police are searching for this man. They say he stabbed an employee during a robbery inside the philadelphia mills walmart in northeast philadelphia early this morning. He was treated at the store and continued to work his shift. Now, we captured video of the cashier as he was getting off. You see his right arm is bandaged. He declined to speak to us on camera citing walmarts policy against employees doing so. Investigators say just before 1 30 this morning, this man, a 35yearold, stabbed a cashier, investigators say the suspects had a 48 inch flat screen tv and two pairs of boots and was on his way out of the store. Reporter october 1 was the deadline for retailers to have the readers in place, most dont and so far only about 20 of consumers have actually received their new cards in the mail. Any time youre dealing with unhappy customers or forcing customers to take steps that they wouldnt normally have to do, its an issue that retailers are going to have to deal with. Reporter its a lot to deal with. Think about the companies that automatically charge your credit card every month. Newspapers, web sites, gym memberships, kids music classes. A lot of those charges arent going through because the old credit cards expire and customers arent equipped to update their billing information. Netflixs stock dropped 8 thursday and blamed the new credit card switchover for slowing its growth. I dont think the banks and the Credit Card Companies are doing enough to educate the consumer. You get your new card, you realize theres a chip on it, youre not sure how that works, its sort of trial by error. Reporter so what should you do when your new card arrives . First, activate the card, usually with just a simple phone call. Second, provide your updated Payment Information to any of the companies that bill you regularly. Sometimes the number doesnt change but the exseparation date does. Third, beware. Scammers are sending emails asking for your credit card information. Dont provide it. Watch your Bank Statements for any charges that look suspicious. Eventually youll insert your new card into the reader rather than swipe it. The transaction may take longer but Security Experts say it goes a long way towards protecting you. That was nbcs tom costello reporting. We have a renown poet and author and educator who is coming in from chicago to do a ceremony that we call a libation which is basically to celebrate and acknowledge the ancestors and just express gratitude for all that they have contributed to our lives today and so its really consistent with our approach to this being a mindbodyspirit event to look at the whole self and the whole community. And i mentioned you mentioned you can bring your kids. What do you have for kids there . We have a kids zone, well have pumpkin decorating, face painting, clowns, dancing, all kinds of fun stuff for the entire family. It was a chilly start this morning. Were in the 60s in philadelphia. Barely a cloud in the sky. This weekend were going to fuel the cold with clear skies, temperatures will plummet. 36 degrees, near the record low of 32. Colder monday morning, 33. The record for monday morning is 29 and the record for Tuesday Morning is 27. But 27, well, it wont get that cold. 38 to start with on tuesday and this will be the beginning of a warming trend. Before it moves in, we have cold ahead and that includes cape may which is warming up in the 60s right now. Interior new jersey over the weekend is going to get especially cold sunday morning. Look at the temperatures flirting with the freezing mark. Indian mills, hammonton and frost is likely into monday morning. So stand by for some really cold air. You can see the clouds off to the north and west. Those clouds will come through the area dry and then the cold takes hold and friday will be dry and it should be dry this weekend. But were tracking some showers that could produce some snow in parts of pennsylvania. Freeze frost advisories in effect. Frost advisory now for much of the south and into kentucky and west virginia. A freeze watch for the midwest and farther to the west a freeze warning and i expect some of those to be issued in our area as well. As far as showers are concerned, the clouds stay north and west today with scattered rain showers. It gets colder saturday morning and saturday morning look at the snow showers in western pennsylvania. We wont get the snow but we will get the cold. Mainly sunny and breezy today, middle to upper 60s this afternoon and then the 60s take a break for the weekend tomorrow after a morning low of 44 and the wind will be gusting. It will get chilly in a hurry. On saturday night if you go to the temple game at lincoln financial field, bundle up, temperatures will be in the 40s and a cold breeze blowing sunday. That will bring in colder air to start with. 36 degrees. Just 55 in the afternoon and it turns colder for monday morning. 55 monday afternoon with bright sunshine and with clear skies it will get cold for the eagles game, too. Game time temperatures will be in the 40s and falling backing in the 30s by Tuesday Morning. 65 tuesday afternoon and then hear come the 70s for wednesday and thursday. An accident just off route 55 northbound in elk township glster county. One car is involved and a person was taken to Cooper University hospital. Were told 55 northbound is down to one lane.
