Coffins uncovered in old city. Construction crews are digging at an old cemetery along art street near the betsy ross house. They thought all the bodies had been removed more than a century ago. Today we found out two dozen of some of the first people who ever lived in philadelphia, they were left behind. Nbc 10s Deanna Durante is joining us. This all started as a small find and it got more significant as the day wore on . Reporter those crews have just left the site within the last couple of minutes. They tell us that today, construction stopped here in order to be able to lift a lot of the heavy dirt out of the way. They say that they are working now to put those people where they should have been placed, more than a century ago. Some have been buried here since before the signing of the declaration of independence. This is the view we saw today. A skull, bones and coffins. All once part of the First Baptist cemetery. It was supposedly moved in 1859, 1860. So this cemetery was not something that we were expecting to find. Reporter last fall construction workers breaking ground on a new apartment complex made the discovery. They found some bones. They called in the city and medical Examiners Office and the thought of what to do with them, was left to the Property Owner. After word spread a group of archeologist and Forensic Experts from rutgers universities decided to take a deeper look. We knew they should have been reentered at the mount mariah cemetery. So we decided we wanted to do the right thing. Reporter for months, new discovery, after new discovery. We want to keep the integrity of each of the individual coffins. And it can be challenging when theyre falling apart in your hands. Reporter so far, 25 grave sites have been found. They wont know how many people they have unearthed until forensic testing can be done. Time is running out. The discovery has delayed the project. The crews need to be finished by saturday. Its a quick but good job. Reporter now, again weve been told that because this was private property,i there are no regulations when it comes to unearthing grave sites like this. Thats why it was up to the original Property Owner who was allowing the volunteers to come in and unearth those bodies and then move them after theyve done that forensic testing. Lehigh valley, its gotten cloudy, too. Things are starting to change around the area. And the radar is showing that we do have some snow in pennsylvania. Getting closer to state college. Even now when its in the 60s, now, this is not exactly looking like a storm here. More like a front. As it comes down. Thats how its going to look on the future radar. Look at the temperatures, too. Theyre above freezing, even when its snowing for the most part. So you combine that with the warm roads to begin with, i think a lot of this is going to melt on the roads. Might accumulate on grassy surfaces by the time 5 30, allentown is down to 31. The darker blue indicates heavier snow. You get bursts of snow, which really reduce the visibility. I think thats going to be the Biggest Issue for the morning rush. Temperature at philadelphia stays above the freezing mark and it doesnt really go much below it. Even north of the city. And as the snow gets lighter, the temperatures starts going back up again. So i really think this is a limited threat. Its just weird to have such a change. And then by tomorrow night, with the wind picking up, its feeling like its close to zero by 11 30 tomorrow night. That is about 33 hours after we hit 68 degrees. More than 60 degree drop. And 33 hours. Saturday morning, feeling like single digits, close to zero. 11 00 a. M. , still feeling like it is bitter cold. Hardly any kind of snow in delaware and cape may and atlantic county. Long beach island. It may snow, but likely to melt. One to two inches east windsor and trenton. Again thats grassy surfaces, trenton, ben salem, philly chester, gloucester, i think all of these areas in the white are going to be just wet roads. Little accumulations in the grass. As you go further to the north, a little colder, snow is a little heavier could have a little bit more of issues on untreated surfaces, warrhatfiel. Three to five inches in allentown down to reading. Most of that on the grassy surfaces, over the next three days this is bitter cold. Every bit as cold as last weekend. And you can see a mix of rain and snow in philadelphia.
