Chopper, but witnesses say it sounded bad while it was still up in the air. The black smoke went up high over route 13. It could be seen for quite some distance. People rushed over to try to help. They couldnt get anywhere near the wreckage. The flames were just atrocious. Ween couldnt see anything left of the airframe at haul. The pilot was training so he could be more efficient at saving other peoples lives. Even in bad weather. I want you to take a good look. These cars are parked behind the building. You can see the damage they sustained from the crash. Thats the nissan. Look at the hyundai. The entire back window is blown out. A lot of other cars are covered in mud and scratched up pretty good. Thats a Pretty Amazing thing that nobody else was hurt. The state trooper said hes no expert, but it appears this pilot threaded the needle to put the chopper down where it wasnt going to hurt anybody else. They mainly have been to the south where we have seen severe thunderstorm warnings taking pla place. Right now were starting to see some activity pop here thats a bit more intense. From dover all the way up to washington through quinton, these are cells that will have intense lightning and downpours and maybe a little hail. Watch out all of this is now beginning to move off to the north and the east as it rotate ts around the main body of the storm system. You can see as they are moving in our direction, these gold boxes are severe thunderstorm warnings. These are for 60 mile an hour winds. And hail up to an inch in size. We could possibly see something pop as it makes its way in our direction. The cells are intensifying. And they are not diminishing as they head toward philadelphia area. Stronger storms by 7 00. Then were going to be watching where they have that gas leak because look what happens. 8 00, they could be looking at lightning in that area. That was something they were concerned about. The entire area up to philadelphia at 10 00 tonight could be looking at some pretty gusty storms. So be aware of that. Youre going to hear the booms of thunder out there. They are now up at the inlet beach in North Wildwood. Its the same area people have drown in recent years. As Ted Greenberg reports, theres some that say the signs arent enough. His family says hed been walking in ankle deep water when the sand sudden ly collapsed frm an underwater landslide of sorts. The result of how water flows in and out of the inlet. The city didnt go far enough with their sign. The family is fighting in court to have the beach closed. Their lawyer thinks the signs should look like this and warn people have drowned in these waters. No swimming, wading, walking or fishing. Let them know its a kill er beach. Reporter this attorney points to reports from leading exports in geology who believe the city signs dont provide adequate warning about the hazard that remains here. Its definitely going to happen again. We just dont know when. Reporter the mayor says the Atlantic Ocean overall is a wilderness and dangerous place. But he insists shutting down this beach is not the answer. To close off all wildlife areas and natural areas to everybody is just unrealistic and unreasonable. Lets get to it. You can see the line of storms stretching from dover up to the philadelphia area. Lets go in a little closer. These have intense lightning and downpours and small hail has been noted with these. They are going to continue moving off to the north and the east. And behind them, more storm moving in. Lets take a look. Philadelphia, you are looking now at the heavier rain beginning to move into the area. We are locking at the same thing. We dont really have anything in cherry hill yet. We get down to wul witch, were looking at steady rain and lightning there. Were looking at heavy rain. E we head into delaware. Dover, nothing right now. Its going to move into south jersey. These are the initial cells moving through the area. You can see off across the d. C. Area and parts of maryland and even virginia, they are severe thunderstorm warnings and thats for 60 mile an hour winds. Theres a lot of intense lightning with the line thats staying together. This is not weakening. Back here is the main body. Its the swirl in the atmosphere that gets things going. That provides a little lift. And so were going to go hour by hour and give you an idea of whats going to go on. We have east winds coming in. But from the south, we have the winds coming in. That kraets the lift. Look at what happened at 9 30 tonight over philadelphia. Perhaps some gusty and strong storms then. We are looking at the winds sort of piling up. When everything comes into one area, it has nowhere to go. Thats whats going to happen. Were going to e see a a charged atmosphere its light rain showers. Then tomorrow we have a west wind. We start to warm up. We may even get some sunshine out there. Perhaps an isolated shower, but thats about it. Nothing too shabby. We head into tomorrow night and things are all quiet. Post offices new castle distribution facility. When we walked through the door, we saw this big flame and we just looked over at the flame and the fire was just out of control. Police say the 37yearold penn star pilot was alone and had flown this helicopter from the Atlantic City airport to conduct a training exercise. According to nbc 10, pilots need a certain amount of hours flying in inclement weather every six months to keep their instrument reading current on their license. I have seen the helicopter nose dive a hundred yards from me. The building shook as the helicopter came down in this industrial park. It managed toy to avoid a number of buildings. We might not be here. It was pretty close to the ground. It was crazy. A medical helicopter pilot there to help others couldnt be saved himself. Witnesses say the flames were just too strong. All we could do is keep the family and everybody else in prayer. A medical pilot doesnt necessarily have to have more training than others. Police say last week he was trying to pass an oversized load on route 30 in Lancaster County when he hit another car. That car hit the oversized load sending it into the school bus causing that bus to flip. 14 kids were on the bus at the time. A 6yearold boy is still in the hospital. Lets start here. Youre getting some very heavy rain right now. Lets go through philadelphia, upper darby, national park, heavy rain right now. We get down to salem, had heavy rain. Then we have the hail. All of these are hail tracks. Especially moving to the philadelphia area. You could see some peasized hail. But these storms have intense lightning and hail associated with them. Thats just kicking off the pieces of energy. And they are kind of meeting up with our sea breeze. So youre getting the winds from opposite is directions. That creates the lift and that creates all the oomp these thunderstorms need. Calm winds and 93 humidity. Right now it might be 100 .
