Reporter a spokesman tells nbc10 news the toll plazas will be open and ready to accommodate more cars coming and going on to the blue ruft to and from the turnpike. The entire ezpass system is not being taken down just those high speed lanes. Because then theyll be more cars going into the slower part and it wont be as fast and traffic backups. Reporter and while there are some delays possible, the system repairs are unvoidable. If they have to do, they have to do it. Reporter and while drivers say they can deal with the traffic. The ezpass lanes are still open, it will save me some time better than paying manually. Reporter now if you get caught in one of those money only lanes. Dont worry. The Turnpike Commission says that now turnpike toll takers can take credit cards but theyre saying that these upgrades are necessary and will last until april 10th. You can see its flowing pretty well. The best way to go at this point looks to be those left hand toll lanes, those seem to be flowing the best. This is in Overland Park kansas. Huge flames here. This complex we are told under construction. We dont have any word on any injuries but lot of firefighters at work right here. Looks like some of those flames have jumped the road there to homes that are nearby. A lost smoke in the air. This is Overland Park, kansas. Start apparently at the apartment complex under construction across the street and now you see this home with flames shooting out of the roof there. He ended up stuck in a bad spot, 40 feet below the bridge at 16th and market. Firefighters put on dry suits, they got in the river and they brought that boy blankets. Since he wasnt hurt they decided to rescue him with a ladder truck to hoist him to safety. Once he was warmed and we felt he was stable, we felt the rope rescue option was the better option to remove him. And we have blurred that boys face to protect his identity. After he was lifted to safety he was taken to ai Dupont Hospital for children. Fire officials at the scene told us he is doing okay. Police are investigating how and why he ended up in that cold river. We have some new information just in to the nbc10 news. Philadelphia police have charged a 17yearold with aggravated assault. Police say he slammed an officer to the ground, knocked the officer unconscious this morning. The officer was responding to a disturbance call around 4 this morning. We were watching live as it appeared those flames had traveled across the street to homes nearby. Lets check the temperatures. We were average 54 is where we should be and thats where we were. Were looking at 47 in Lehigh Valley. Its 42 as an average in the pennsylvania suburbs, 52 in philly. Parkside at 51, fox chase at 51, center city is a 54 degrees. Lets check out whats going on in the suburbs. We have West Township at 43, exton at 50 and chadds ford at 49 degrees. How about if we head further off to the north and west. Elroy at 49, ft. Washington at 50. Very pleasant afternoon there. We get in the Lehigh Valley and berks county. Were looking at 55 in spring and whitehall at 48. A little bit further off to the north and east nazareth at 48. It isnt until we get in the mt. Pocono that it drops into the 30. Weve been watching these pictures since 4 00 this afternoon. You see some of the flames there on the left side of your screen and weve also seen those flames jumping across the road to involve some homes in the area. Firefighters have been working hard to save those homes. At least one we saw has been lost to this huge fire in Overland Park, kansas. This apartment complex right here heavily involved. Now to a developing traffic situation were following right here in montgomery county. Construction has the ezpass express lanes closed at the midcounty toll plaza. From up there in the sky, hows it looking . Reporter so in the last hour or so we showed you how traffic was flowing pretty well and its still was up until about five minutes ago when a car stalled on the back end of the toll. They have just pushed it out of the way. You can see the traffic. Theres that car sitting there right on the northbound side right pass the toll but it was a real great example of just how easily the traffic can get backed up for about five minutes. There was only one lane getting passed when you got through the toll. Now, the we just got word that the southbound lanes on the express ezpass lanes theyll be closed starting tomorrow. This all of course because pendot has to upgreat its electronic equipment for the express ezpass lanes. Right now were getting a real good taste of just how quickly the traffic situation could deteriorate all from just going down from four lanes to one lane. At this point theyve only taking away two lanes, those express lanes but the traffic it seems to be going pretty good. But jim and jackie, the best thing to do, is stay to the left. It looks like the right toll lane is the slowest one, guys. Good information. Doesnt take much to back up that traffic. More traffic talk right now. Temperatures they could get quite chilly at times as we head into the mountain areas and by tomorrow morning you can see maybe a sprinkle or two around the area. So youre going to have to enjoy near 60 in some places tomorrow and in returning to the upper 30s and low 40s about a 20 degree drop in some areas by the time we get into wednesday. Of the winds are out of the northwest for tonight and theyre fairly light but they are going to start to pick up. Look at this. We go through tuesday. The winds are calm in the morning. Then they really start to ramp up. And with ala we are going to be looking at wind gusts anywhere from 15 to 20 miles an hour bill the time we get into wednesday. Heres your ten day trend. We are going to be looking at 58 tomorrow in philadelphia. A little cooler north and west of the area. 39 on wednesday, 32 on thursday. At least we get sunshine both days then we hit 58 on friday.
