Were bringing it up the road reporter theyre spreading controlled flames. Very dry. Reporter to reduce the rising risk of wildfires. We havent had any season like this since the mid80s. In the woods of tabernacle and other vulnerable spots across the garden state, the new Jersey Forest Fire Service burning up more brush that could feed wildfires than they normally would in february, weeks ahead of the typical start of fire season march 15th. Unfortunately weve seen both this winter so far. Meteorologist krystal klei joins us now. Krystal, you arent wearing a winter coat by any means, youre not shivering, so what happened to winter . Reporter seriously. That is a good question. We have seen these record breaking temperatures the past weekend and right now although its cool in the shade with a breeze, you can see that is not stopping people here at Independence Mall from getting out and most of the people i have seen today have been maybe in a hoodie or lighter jacket. You dont see any snow on the ground. Lets talk this warm february that we have seen. The coldest low temperature that we have seen so far this month, just 22 degrees and while that is cold it was on the 10th and not in the teens in february. No teens to report. Our warmest High Temperature that was just yesterday, it set a record for are warmth at 70 degrees. Look at the calendar for the month. The blue indicates the below average days, the orange of course the above average days. Theres only five days in the month that have seen below average conditions. And we continue above average. The average this time of year 45 degrees in philadelphia. Were nowhere near that even today which was a dip from yesterday. And our seasonal snow totals also not exactly impressive. In philadelphia eight inches is what weve seen so far this year, compared that to last year 26. 2 inches. If you look at the graph it speaks for itself. Every location below what we saw last year, allentown more than a 25 inch difference from last year and you see just wilmington and Atlantic City below the 10 inch mark as well. So across the board we have seen drier than usual conditions when it cops to snow and weve seen warmer than average temperatures for february. We still have a few days but it looks like areas like philadelphia and Atlantic City will ends up in the top five warmest months on record for february. Well talk more about that as we continue and glenn will come up in just a few minutes to talk about the next round of 70 degrees temperatures that we have. Im live in Independence Mall, krystal klei. I showed you this shot from cape may just a few minutes ago but when you have a spectacular sunset like this it changes its character every few minutes. You dont just go outside and take a peak at the sun set and go back in. You can just stand out there especially when youre at the ocean and stare at it for 15 minutes, a half hour. Ive done this. On days like that its just amazing and you need clouds for the best possible sunsets. 56 degrees in philadelphia right now as were getting close to the sunset and just about clear skies across most of the rest of the area. 52 Lehigh Valley, temperatures starting to go down but they got a long way to go to get close to the average of 45. And as we take a look at the ten day, remember, the average high of 45. So theres the coldest day of the week. Tuesday, then 63 wednesday, 70 on thursday. And thats not the ends of it. Near 71 on friday. Now we have a strong cold front coming through on saturday. Maybe some strong thunderstorms will gusty winds and then look at the drop in temperatures for sundays.
