Officials do say they expect him here on the red carpet shortly. He will make a speech as he gets inducted into the hall of fame. Well cover it live at 11 00. For now, in springfield massachusetts, randy gyllenhaal, nbc 10 news. We will be watching that with bated breath. The threat of storms and high tide made labor day something of a weekend bust. Businesses are hoping this record heat will give them a late summer boost. We saw people who scrapped their plans because of the threat of hermine last weekend. Some hotels are sold out after dealing with cancellations or guests leaving early over labor day weekend. Hurt a lot of businesses on the island. Which just makes these next few weekends that much more important for us. Beach haven, many people are finding smaller beaches and rugged terrain. Waves washed away a lot of that sand last weekend. From the shore to the delaware beaches, to the pocono mountains, nbc 10 has your weekend neighborhood forecast. We check in now with chief meteorologist glenn hurricane schwartz. Glenn, youre not surprised to see the beach erosion. Yeah. And it could have been a whole lot worse. Were going to be seeing a pretty good weekend at the shore. Maybe some clouds sunday morning. But otherwise, nice weekend. Philadelphia, well, record today. We may be in the record territory tomorrow, too. Temperatures in the 90s, or near 90 just about everywhere. Lehigh valley down a little bit because theres a shower that just moved through the allentown area. And you can see on the temperatures, Sinking Spring at 93 degrees. And berks county, 89 degrees in reading. And in hopewell. 87 in allentown. 89 in whitehall. And 90 degrees in easton. Its going to be perhaps even a little bit hotter tomorrow. Dry across much of southeastern pennsylvania and the rest of our area. But some isolated showers moving through. This shower, though, went right toward allentown. It was a heavy shower for about five minutes. And then it weakened tremendously. This one is going up through the poconos. So we have that risk, but its generally up in those areas later tonight and again tomorrow. The weekend is part steamy and part comfortable. Of course, the first part is going to be steamy. 96 degrees in philadelphia. Its going to feel like its well over 100. But by sunday, its 86 degrees. And feeling like 86. All of these places, about ten degrees cooler on sunday than saturday. Except for the jersey shore, which will be at the same or perhaps even a little bit warmer on sunday. Its the difference between the sea breeze tomorrow, so it will be cooler at the shore tomorrow than it was today, and then the land breeze coming in on sunday. So the records that we saw, 97 degrees is the record for tomorrow. Predicting 96. Its going to be very, very close. Allentown, maybe just shy of the record. Mount holly, millville, close to record levels tomorrow. With the high humidity, its going to feel like its close to 100 or even higher during the day tomorrow. Feeling like 80s to start off the day. And then 100plus in the afternoon in most places. Wilmington 101. Voorhees 102. Trenton 101. And then on sunday, it is a world of difference. 84 degrees by 4 30 is the way it feels. Thats not just the temperature, you include the humidity, it doesnt even feel that hot. So tomorrow, this is the last of those triple digits. South philly, 96, feeling like 101. Allentown 93, feeling like 98. Upper makefield, feeling like 100. Hamilton township, feeling like 99. Easton township feeling like 100. At the shore, not as hot, or not feeling anywhere near as hot. 91 in margate. A lot better than 101. Wilmington feeling like 99. Heres harrington at 103. Of course, for the eagles, could be a few clouds in the morning, but lowering humidity as we go through the afternoon. So 81 degrees, increased sunshine, 86 during the game itself. A whole lot nicer than saturday. Definitely. Thanks for that, glenn. Hot weather means hot cars. We have a warning for parents about an increase in kids dying in hot cars. You need a plan to stay cool for at least part of the weekend. Lets get the details from chief meteorologist glenn hurricane schwartz. We broke records today. Yeah, we did. In philadelphia, we broke a record that was over 130 years old. Its 93 now. It was 95. Its 90 in wilmington now. 94 in dover. Of course, dover is the place where weve had the highest humidity. Thats been the case in many, many events this summer. It feels like 102 in vineland. 100 in Atlantic City international. But 105 in dover. Now, are we getting any relief at the jersey shore. The ocean temperature is a nice 74. We finally got a sea breeze. Knocking the temperatures down. So its now 87 in ventnor. 88 in ocean city. 96 at mays landing. 92 in woodbine. 95 at cape may courthouse. Thats the difference a little sea breeze can do to get you in the 90s before the sea breeze hit this afternoon. Heres the radar and satellite. You can see a few showers moving through the Lehigh Valley and into the poconos. Most of them on the lighter side moving fairly quickly. It shouldnt be a wet night, but a warm and humid night. If russia had been the focus of recent discussions for the president ial candidates, but now north korea is taking center stage. This after the country unleashed a powerful Nuclear Blast today. Brian moore has a look at how this is impacting the race for president. Reporter north korea is bragging to the world about its most powerful Nuclear Detonation to date, a blast with shock waves rippling all the way to the white house. I think the next president is going to have to deal with north korea on his or her watch. And it presents, i would say, the most naughty problem in foreign affairs. Reporter north koreas provocation comes on a day when democrat Hillary Clinton was talking terrorism with National Security and Foreign Policy advisers. In alabama her running mate blasted donald trump praising a dictator who is hurting his country, hurting his people. Reporter trump was in washington, shoring up support with the values voters at the core of his party. His campaign is confronting a new controversy saying the republican didnt know his interview with larry king was for russian owned tv. Some said he doubts the fbi conclusion Russian Hackers tried to influence the u. S. Election. Maybe the democrats are putting that out. Who knows. Reporter today trumps running mate received his first intelligence briefing. I hope the American People looking on at this process know that donald trump and i will be ready day one. Reporter a day one agenda that will include north korea, no matter who wins the white house. Brian moore, nbc news, washington. Time for the return of our political punchout team. Democrat Mark Alderman and jim schultz are breaking down the president ial race. All right. Mark, jim, been a very busy week for both candidates. Lets start with donald trump and his comments on russian president Vladimir Putin. Heres the recap of what he said during wednesdays commander in cheap forum on nbc. Lets take a listen. If he says great things about him, im going to say great things about him. I already said he is very everyone of a leader. You can say, isnt that a terrible thing. The man has very strong control over a country. Its a very different system and i dont happen to like the system. But certainly in that system hes been a leader far more than our president has been a leader. Jim, lets start with you. Trump is facing criticism from both parties. But of course, hes not backing down here. What does he gain from praising putin this way . Whether he respects putin, doesnt like putin, the bottom line is donald trump is not going to capitulate to any foreign leader. And roll over for any foreign leader. I think thats whats clear in all of this. If you look at the statement that he made in total, it was really about a comparison to our current president , and his lack of leadership, especially on foreign affairs. Weve seen that time and time again. Weve seen that our enemies dont fear us. We see whats going on in north korea. Its just continuing time and time again. The policies of the clintonobama administration are continuing and were seeing it play out in north korea this week. Jim, theres a difference between being dumb and being dangerous. Saying youre going to build a wall and mexicos going to pay for it. Everybody knows thats not happening. Praising Vladimir Putin is dangerous. Putin is a kgb killer. Hes an enemy of this country. Has his finger on the Nuclear Arsenal that could blow up the world. What is trump thinking . Is he running for president of the United States or president of the policy bureau. This is crazy scary talk. Hes going to have to deal with world leaders. Thats something this president hasnt done. Something Hillary Clinton didnt do mark and jim, you mentioned Hillary Clinton. Lets talk about hillary for just a moment. Appears shes having a very difficult time to escape the controversy surrounding her emails. Theres also some more questions about the clinton foundation. And how the organization influenced her during her time in office as secretary of state. Mark, you can start off on this one. How does she need to address this Going Forward . Can she put this to rest . She can. She needs to stop playing lawyer and Start Talking like a person that ordinary americans can believe in. She is the most qualified person to run for president since thomas jefferson. She needs to let that shine through. She needs to stop trying to explain away her emails, stop parsing sentences, stop splitting hairs. Tell us she made a mistake, she learned her lesson and shes better for it. No more lawyer talk, time to get real. Thats just a longwinded answer that she needs to tell the truth and stop lying. Thats really what youre saying, mark. Time and time again shes just incapable of telling the truth. We keep getting more and more information, destroying in addition to destroying emails, now theyre destroying devices, ipads, iphones, communication devices. Essentially destroying communication and evidence. Shes trying to lawyer something, she needs to channel harry truman, Talk Straight to the American People. And move on. Look, this whole liar liar pants on fire narrative is working for one reason, because its credible. We dont you do not want to talk about telling lies in this campaign. There is no more ill equivalence between the lies Donald Trump Tells when he stands up to speak and Hillary Clinton being too clever about her emails. Were seeing it dog her time and time again in the polls. Its because of this issue, the lying issue. The inability to tell the truth to the American People. The country is divided. Speaking of tightening up political punchout living up to its name for sure. 60 days until the election. We look forward to seeing you many more times between now and then. Graduate hospital at 95. Germantown 96. Bustleton at 95 degrees. Now, weve seen a few showers going through the Lehigh Valley, and the poconos. Well go in a little bit closer, and you can see the lighter showers near allentown, at least it looks kind of light. These are the existing radars, the stationary radars showing the light showers near easton, and down to holland. But weve sent storm ranger out there, up toward the Lehigh Valley, to take a closer look at these showers. And we can get more detail look at that compared to what we see from the existing radars. Thats all spread out, it averaged out. Its a little bit behind the time. This is live. And look at the showers down by holland. Its just not showing the existing radars, not showing whats actually occurring. Because weve driven to the storm. The closer you get to the storm, the more detail that you can see. Just imagine that in severe weather, how much detail we can see. Now, as we go through the evening, there could be some more scattered showers and thunderstorms. And weve got storm ranger staying up there for the evening. 11 00 news, if necessary. Well show you those storms, too. Now, the storms are not going to be there for the eagles. Thats all going to be gone. Theres a front coming through. Its going to get less humid as we go through the day. 81 for the kickoff. 86 by the end of the game. And thats pretty nice. Look at the temperatures go down. Saturday, 96. Sunday, 86. Plus lower humidity. And then even cooler on monday. In dover, a high of only 80 degrees. Allentown a high of only 79 on monday. And 81 on tuesday with that tendegree drop from saturday to sunday. Now, at the shore, it may actually get a touch warmer on sunday because weve got sea breeze here, land breeze here. And then the sea breeze keeps it cooler on monday and tuesday. So were seeing a lot of sunshine at the shore on saturday. With the sea breeze, maybe a little bit breezy. Now, on sunday, we see some clouds in the morning, clearing in the afternoon. No rain expected this weekend. And in the poconos, chance of a shower on saturday, late saturday afternoon, warm and humid. But then on sunday, mix of clouds and sun, and temperatures only into the 70s. As we go into next week, again, we are seeing the temperature drop, low humidity, and then it warms up again toward wednesday. Then starts cooling off again. Look at these temperatures at night in the 50s. The low this morning was 80 degrees. For a record. And high temperatures in the 70s as well. Thanks for that, glenn.
