We do have one Severe Thunderstorm Warning for parts of Chester County. Its heading toward montgomery county. Could even move into the philadelphia area. This is a Severe Thunderstorm Warning until 5 30. It includes charlestown down through coatesville approaching westchester, and stretches from phoenixville down to coatesville. Very heavy rain. A lot of lightning right over 76. Here as we look in Chester County, and even the potential for hail in this storm. Its moving to the east around 35 miles an hour. Its going to be in chest business chester very soon. Marion by about 5 30. Philadelphia by about 5 45, and then on its way to camden. Golf ballsized hail is possibly getting even a little bit larger in size. As it continues moving to the east. So well be watching that very closely. Damaging winds also expected with that storm. Now were looking through parts of bucks county. Scattered heavy rain even up toward Lehigh County in lehigh valley. Near 476. This one showing indications of some hail, possibly golf ballsized. Again, we have some strong thunderstorms on the radar today, even as you get into parts of Mercer County. Well take a closer look at that coming up as well. 93 wilmington. 94 right now in dover. But when you talk about the humidity, take a look at the feelslike temperature. This is dangerous heat, 118, thats what it feels like right now in dover. It feels like 107 in philadelphia. Inside a courtroom she told a judge she doesnt feel prosecutors made a case against her. This week prosecutors brought multiple witnesses to show kane leaked grand jury material to a reporter. Morrow was caught talking about it on a secret recording made by the fbi in an unrelated investigation. In which he said kane was unhinged. Theres devastating evidence against the attorney general. Philadelphia is now keeping some city pools open longer this season. Heres the deal. 21 pools were supposed to close this weekend, but because of the heat wave, only eight will shut down. The city is closing the pools because of a shortage of lifeguards. Many of whom are returning to school this month. As the mercury rises in the lehigh valley, the cost of the swim takes a dive. During this weekends heat advisory, kids can swim at the jordan and mac pools for 2 bucks. The irving pool will run anyone 4 and up 1. The water temperature above average, that sand way too hot on your toes if youre walking down to the beach. Youve got to wear the flipflops. Some events have been canceled or postponed down there due to the extreme heat and humidity. Safety, of course, is key over these next few days as this heat wave continues. Rehoboth beach, this is a live look near the boardwalk in rehoboth beach, the dry side. But we have thunderstorms out there, some of which are fairly strong across the area. Even potentially some severe thunderstorms across the area right now. Mainly moving into lower parts of montgomery county, and Chester County. So heres a look at the radar. We have a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Chester County, parts of lower montgomery county. That is moving in the direction of philadelphia and will be there in the next 30 minutes or so. So the radar here kind of showing you a time lapse of whats been going on with this storm. With this afternoon, any strong to severe thunderstorms we have could be producing damaging winds near 60 miles an hour. Heavy rain, lightning be. And we are seeing the potential for hail in some of these storms. Weve seen seen indications of golf ballsized hail. This Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Chester County, parts of montgomery county, heading towards philadelphia, damaging winds, heavy rain, lightning and hail. You want to get ip doors with that thunderstorm. We have a few more moving through the lehigh valley, even bucks county and closer to Mercer County in new jersey. For the rest of this evening, the rest of the area really dealing with the heat and humidity still. But the heat and humidity really fueling these thunderstorms at the same time. Thats why were seeing even some of these storms becoming strong to severe. Now, aside from this, were dealing with temperatures that feel around 100 degrees. But that is also whats fueling all this thunderstorm activity. As far as south jersey and delaware is concerned, we dont have anything in the way of storms right now. All of the thunderstorm activity will remain north and west of philadelphia, even as we go into tomorrow. But still the heat in the forecast. If you look at the sevenday, you can see the 90s scrolling at the bottom of your screen. Were officially in heat wave number five. Those 90s are going to last all the way through the weekend. The first alert is going to last through the weekend, too, because of humidity. Feeling anywhere from 100 to 110 degrees. In dover, it actually feels like 118 right now. Thats what the humidity is doing. Its fueling all these storms around. I think these storms are going to be lasting a little bit longer, a little while longer, and even through tonight we see the chance for thunderstorms around. But aside from that, its going to stay hot and its going to stay humid as we go into your friday evening, and parts of the area you will want an umbrella if youre heading out. But again, that Severe Thunderstorm Warning will go until 5 30 as of right now, heading towards the philadelphia area. Again, with that severe thunderstorm we could be seeing winds near 60 miles an hour. Also heavy rain and lightning. Heres a closer look at that storm. Its going to go until 5 30. So well be watching that very closely for you. Severe thunderstorm warning there. It includes norristown, westchester seeing heavy rain. Devon seeing very heavy rain, too. That one expired at 5 30. But now we have another strong thunderstorm which is still kind of a piece of that. They broke off a little bit into two separate heavy areas. In westchester, heavy rain, a lot of lightning near 202. Thornberry, norristown, the heavy rain moving in. Well keep watching these strong thunderstorms. These are all moving mainly to the east at 35 miles an hour. Well look at the one right over radner and 476 here. This will be approaching marion by 5 33, philadelphia right around 5 45. So if europes in the philadelphia area, especially you may have noticed the skies darkening. We do have one strong storm on the way. Weve seen hail around downingtown. Golf ballsized hail. Any storms that develop the rest of this evening, theres potential for heavy rain, damaging winds and hail. We are definitely seeing indications of that. Now were looking at lambburgville, near buckingham and bucks county, grant toward Hopewell Township and Mercer County. Rain with a lot of lightning. And police tell us this is just the tip of the iceberg. Right now theyre investigating at least 15 breakins in 11 different towns. Nbc 10s south jersey reporter tells us how theyre pulling off the crimes. Reporter with a brick or cinder block, they smash and theyre in. Going for the cash. Theyre in for a short time and out the door. Reporter they cleaned out the register, grabbing two grand all in a minute. They used a brick from the back alleyway, a big one. Wound up like a softball player would and literally threw it right at our front door. Reporter Police Believe the team of thieves have robbed as many as 15 Liquor Stores since may 20th, striking five times near midnight on july 4th alone. An alarm scared them off. Theyre looking for quick cash. They didnt take any product from us. From the stories i heard, they hit four other Liquor Stores the same night. Reporter this is video from last weekend. With their faces covered they r robbed the liquor store. The Surveillance Video clearly shows one of the suspects faces. The group hit this store july 21st. With 300,000 in inventory, he worries about his livelihood. They dont find any money or something, maybe they can smash the whole bottles. You never know. We want them caught. Not only just because they came after our liquor store, but everybody else works hard. Were all part of one industry. All the agencies involved have gotten together and were working together to try to get these guys off the street. Reporter we counted, and in at least three of these robberies the brazen crooks chose to hit Liquor Stores within one minute of a local police department. Thats where we still have one area of heavy rain, maybe even a little lightning right near westchester, edge mont. Thats moving south a little bit. Concord should see this very soon. The severe thunderstorm we were talking about earlier has fallen apart. We have heavy rain here, philadelphia dealing with moderate rain as well right near 95. For the evening drive tonight, you may be just dealing with some showers as youre driving, depending where you are. Especially near 295 here. Salem in a bit of a break. There is some rain maybe heading in that direction. Now were talking about storm ranger 10, the only mobile radar you will see on tv. And we have it. The white sweeps, those are stationary radars. But the red sweep we have right around the trenton area, that is storm ranger 10. We drove it out to trenton and Mercer County, and we can move it anywhere we want to get a better view of storms that the stationary radars may not be able to see so well, because as you get farther away, the view becomes less specific. So now were near one thunderstorm near pennington. Hopewell township, heavy rain here. This is moving out of bucks county. And continuing to move into new jersey. Trenton for the most part seeing the overcast skies. But the heat and humidity, thats going to stay high as we go through the rest of this evening, and especially over the weekend. We still have a first alert out for dangerous heat. The philadelphia area, pennsylvania suburbs, new jersey and delaware. Some areas in delaware right now feel around 120 degrees. Ill show you that in a second. First alert will run through sunday, hot and humid, making it feel close to 110 in some spots. Now we look at the feelslike temperature. When you factor in the humidity, look at dover, feels like 118 degrees right now. No rain relief anytime in the next few hours. Feels like 107 in philadelphia. Feels like 100 in mount holly. A lot of raincooled air in coatesville only feeling like 78 degrees. Huge difference there. Vineland feels like 107. Atlantic city feels like 104 degrees. Look at your neighborhood temperatures tomorrow. 98 for the high in packer park, feeling like 110. The red number is the feelslike temperature. Allentown 97. Feeling closer to 105. And still the chance of some scattered thunderstorms mainly north and west of philadelphia. If youre in new jersey, millville feels like 97 degrees. If you are along the shore, stone harbor, 90 degrees. And delaware, if youre in harrington, 96. But feeling closer to 115 tomorrow. Heres a look at future weather. Tonight were going to hold on to the rain chances as we go through the evening. By 10 30, we could see some activity in delaware possibly. But if youre heading out this evening, hang on to the umbrella. For your saturday, most of the day dry. But north and west of philadelphia, chance of some late day thunderstorms. And like i mentioned, not all neighborhoods will be seeing the rain chance over the weekend. Its mostly going to be pennsylvania suburbs and lehigh valley. When she cried and said how much she couldnt believe it, like that actually had me in tears. Its a good thing for young girls to have a good role model out there, not just in fashion or music, but something athletic, which i think is really cool. For the most part theyve weakened a bit but were still dealing with rain for the evening commute. Near philadelphia, morrisville, del rand, willingboro all seeing rain at the moment. It continues in parts of Chester County near westchester, glen mills now seeing some of that moderate to heavy rainfall. For the evening commute in these areas, youre dealing with wet roads. The one thing its doing is really helping to cool those temperatures down. South brunswick seeing the heavy rain here. Its more near pennington and Hopewell Township that were watching closely because some of that rain is heavy with lightning around, too. Temperaturewise, it is very hot outside, except for the areas that saw the rain. The temperature in coatesville, 79 degrees. Philadelphia 94. Vineland 92. Even mount holly 92. The big concern is how hot it actually feels when you factor in the humidity. Philadelphia, feeling like 105. If youre in dover, you feel like 116 right now. Vineland feeling like 107.
