And you can see right here we have a tow truck on scene, multiple vehicles involved in this, at least four or three vehicles, its looking like. Two vehicles here blocking the two left lanes. So, we have the right lane of traffic getting by. A couple times already we did have all lanes temporarily blocked, but you can see that one lane freely moving the far right lane. This is causing a heavy delay, though, on 95 northbound basically from the vine street expressway out to girard avenue. Lets go ahead and go back to the maps and you can see the delay. Drivers just sitting there on the highway. This is what its looking like barely moving as you approach that scene. And checking some of your drive times on 95 we are seeing normal volume southbound building and then on the northbound side, especially you can see your drive time is 25 minutes right now from the vine out to woodhaven road. So thats a problem we will continue to follow. Septa, wilmington newark line no service to the crossing station and no service to the Newark Station due to amtrak problems. However, the rest of the line between wilmington and center city, is operating on a regular schedule. So, just keep that in mind. Also, this is just something to note. This is what weve been talking about all morning long. And patco officials said due to yesterdays weather, we anticipate icy conditions on platforms and parking lots so please take extra care when walking this morning. Shes live in the fox chase section of philadelphia. At 6 00 a. M. How are the roads looking in fox chase . Hi. Well, vai, earlier this morning, we drove around Philadelphia County and Montgomery County. I can tell you, many of the major roads, like the one here central and also cottman avenue which runs parallel to us they are fine. They were pretreated before the storm with a salt solution and since the storm, they have been plowed, but that is not the case for many of the smaller roads, like this one here in fox chase, where they have not been plowed and you can see the snowpack has frozen to the street making for some icy patches. Icy conditions were also an issue in center city last night. They caused a driver to crash into a business on walnut street. A tow truck driver who was at the scene tells us he was running from crash to crash because of the icy conditions and also black ice on the roosevelt boulevard earlier this morning caused a crash near ninth street. Fortunately, that has since cleared, so it is all clear for the morning rush. Now, pay special attention if you are in and around philadelphia to areas that have bridges and also areas of higher elevations. The Streets Department tells me that they pay special attention to those two areas because they are more prone to freezing, and we are seeing some freezing conditions on the roadways this morning. Skyforce10 was over the scene of these huge flames last night along curley mill road in new briton township. Nbc 10s jesse garrsyy is live on scene. Tell us more. Reporter tracy, one fire chief told me crews were suffering, his words, suffering through firefighting operations during the overnight and earlymorning hours out here. As you can see, they have wrapped up operations. They put out the fire and they have cleared the scene. The flames were first reported around 10 30 last night. They quickly grew and consumed this large property on curley mill road. Responding firefighters battled both the fire and icy, 15degree temperatures by working in shifts. We brought in as we need them, extra people to help pick the hose up and relieve the guys that have been out here in the cold and that are fatigued and give them a break and give them something to eat and drink. Reporter it took several hours, but the fire is out and now the search for the cause can begin. A family of four inside of the home at the time escaped without injury. Salt trucks have been doing their work as well. They have salted this road curley mill, very heavily because of so much water from the firefighting operations but still, if youre in this area take it slow, because there could be some residual patches of ice. Live in new briton township bucks county jesse gary nbc 10 news. And new from overnight, search crews looking for that missing airasia flight say they have spotted the planes tail. Now, this is important, because the tail is where the black box is located. So far, dozens of bodies have been recovered, but more than 100 people are still missing. The plane crashed more than a week ago after taking off from indonesia and headed to singapore. A former Delaware County teacher charged with molesting students will learn his sentence in the spring. Paul how swender erhochschwender entered a no contest plea after being accused of molesting students in two districts. A judge will hand down his sentence on in april, but he volunteered to begin serving his time immediately. Paying the price for welfare fraud. A judge sentenced 12 people after pleading guilty. 3 of the 12 defendants are from on our area. One is a woman from norristown who got more nan 12,000 in subsidized daycare. The judge sentenced her to two years probation and ordered her to pay restitution. 6 07. Philadelphias making changes to prevent tragedy and promote better building safety. Mayor Michael Nutter announced yesterday the creation of the building safety oversight board. The panel is in response to the deadly Market Street Building Collapse that killed 6 people and injured 13 others back in 2013. The mayor appointed a special commission after the collapse to review and evaluate the Citys Department of licenses and inspections. The commission made more than three dozen recommendations to change the operations of l i, including the building safety oversight board. Mayor nutter said after the collapse at 22nd and Market Streets, i vowed that we as a city would do all we could to prevent these tragedies in the future. Subcontractor Sean Benschop and demolition contractor Griffin Campbell are both charged with thirddegree murder for that collapse. A judge ruled the two men will go on trial together. In the Atlantic City casino crisis according to reports, a Pennsylvania Real Estate company has agreed to buy the Atlantic Club casino hotel. Endeavor Property Group is linked to a deal to buy the property. The sale price is unclear right now. The Atlantic Club is under certain restrictions which prevent it from becoming a casino again. It closed in january of last year. And this morning were learning more about the deal surrounding the former revel casino. Developer glenn straub says he hopes to complete the deal to buy the revel within the next 30 days, but it is up to the court system. He says he wants to make the property 49 casino and 51 resort. Final sale price of revel still needs to be agreed upon. And mercedesbenz will move its u. S. Headquarters from north jersey to atlanta. The company made its decision yesterday. Some 1,000 jobs will leave mont veil, Bergen County when the carmaker moves in july. The reason this is so bad is because its in the midst of this longterm Construction Zone, so we already have lanes restrictioned in that area. 95 northbound right at girard avenue. You can see the backup because of all the drivers having to merge into one lane. So traffic is jammed from the vine street expressway out to girard avenue. You can see that delay just continues right now. Lets come back to the maps so i can show you what its looking like. This is where the accident is located. This red is the normal southbound delay were used to and that is the northbound delay. Right now we are seeing a really big problem here with the drive times. 95 northbound from the vine to woodhaven road 36 minutes. We never see that on the northbound side unless theres something serious happening. 26 minutes is your drive time between those two points on the southbound side. So, a lot of volume out there in both directions of 95. Well continue to follow that. Lets talk about 76 right in this area. We have an accident on 76 westbound right near route 202. Involves a vehicle thats facing the wrong way on the highway, possibly spun out because of icy conditions. So just slow down and take your time. Bridge services. We are seeing speed restrictions to 35 Miles Per Hour on most of the area bridges because of the icy spots. And in fact septa just tweeted that the market frankford line no a or b service once again today because of the coldweather conditions. So all trains are going to be making local stops. Nascar driver kurt buschs assault investigation is now in the hands of delaware state prosecutors. His exgirlfriend claims that he choked her and hit her head against a wall inside his motor home at Dover International speedway back in september. Police completed their investigation. Now prosecutors have to decide if they will file charges. Busch denies the allegations. Also in delaware former u. S. Senate candidate Christine Odonnell is at the center of a lawsuit for illegally using campaign donations. It was northbound right at girard avenue. At one point, it was blocking all lanes. Multivehicle accident. But unfortunately, it did a number on the delay. We are seeing a pretty big backup right now thats just beginning right near the penns landing tunnels in that area. So, thats going to crawl northbound past the vine street expressway out to girard avenue. Lets take you to one of our other cameras. I got a tweet from one of our viewers, lauren asking if this was causing a backup on the ben franklin bridge into philly and thats what you can see, drivers making their way into philadelphia. Its slowing down, but no significant delay on the ben. So, that is a little bit of good news for drivers there. Checking your drive times on 95 it really caused some backups there. 43 minutes is what were seeing southbound from woodhaven to the vine 34 minutes on the northbound side from the vine street expressway out to woodhaven road. Northbound is going to start to clear out just a little bit since that accident just cleared, but for now, heavy volume out there in both directions. Tracy . All right, jillian. We want you to watch out for icy roads this morning. Knowing where they are can help you make a safe commute. Camden county crews are treating major roads, like route 70 not so much the side streets. So, you do want to take it slow. Nbc 10 in manayunk in that section of philadelphia where the hilly streets can be treacherous. Someone even put out a homemade sign to warn drivers there. So in addition to it being so cold, it really feels like winter, you really need to watch out for icy spots. Good news is in philadelphia on the major roads like cottman avenue and here along Central Avenue, they have been plowed so were not seeing the frozen snow pack or the slick spots. It is a very different story however, for the side streets, like right here in fox chase. This is just an example of one of the smaller streets and also the sidewalk where you are finding some slick spots. These areas were not pretreated and they have not yet been plowed. Black ice has also been an issue in pottstown, Montgomery County. Nbc 10 was there to find drivers navigating around that black ice and snow that was frozen to the pavement. I did talk with Police Dispatchers in Montgomery County who tell me overnight and early this morning the black ice was not causing any major issues. So, thats good news. I also spoke with dispatchers in south jersey where drivers in haddonfield told us they were having to go very slowly around black ice. But good news there as well no major issues to report overnight or early this morning. So back out here live in fox chase, in this part of philadelphia i found drivers going pretty slowly where they need to go slowly. Im just grabbing these wire reports just now to bring you this news as the information continues to roll in. But cnbc just confirmed ten people shot and killed. Ten deaths confirmed at the central paris office of the charlie headbow satirical newspaper. That magazine in the past has been firebombed after printing comments and cartoons about the Prophet Muhammad. It is the site of this attack. Heres what we know at this point. Two masked gunmen were seen entering the building with assault rifles. Witnesses reported hearing multiple shots and people were seen running out of the building. Now, a prosecutor in paris is confirming at least ten People Killed, several wounded. And im just going through these reports from nbc news here citing some of the things that were seen near this scene here in paris. A lot of people sustained gunshot injuries. Now weve just learned that 11 people have been confirmed dead. And here is our first picture from the scene. Again, this is near the central paris offices of charlie headbow, a satirical newspaper based in paris. And this picture was taken shortly after the first Police Rescue units responded there. This is from a distance down the street obviously. But two hooded men were seen entering the building with assault rifles. Several shots fired. Confirmation now of 11 deaths 11 People Killed. And i can tell you also that we talked about the past firebombing at this Magazine Office after the cartoon was published by the Prophet Muhammad muhammad. The last tweet by this magazine was a tweet mocking the leader of isis. That was the last tweet sent out by the editor in chief. And so now we have militants that have attacked the charlie headbow magazine headquarters in paris, killing 11 people at this point. The number of confirmed dead. Four people managed to escape unharmed. This morning, investigators will begin looking for a cause of the fire. It is 6 36. Decision 2016. New Jersey Governor Chris Christie will make a public move toward running for president later this month. That comes from a report in the washington post. It cites an unnamed source. The word about christie comes one day after former Florida Governor jeb bush announced hes forming a Political Action committee. So far, no comment from christie. But while rumors swirl of governor christies president ial run, one Political Group is calling for an ethics investigation into his ties to Dallas Cowboys owner jerry jones. Some say christies gubernatorial affection may have benefited jones financially. Allegations surfaced that christie encouraged the Port Authority to give a World Trade Center contract to joness firm in 2013. Combine that with all of the all expense paid football trips, opponents say christie may have violated state ethics laws. I dont know if theyre looking for Something Else but 95 northbound at the vine street expressway we had a big backup northbound out here earlier because of that accident. Thats since cleared. It looks like we possibly have a disabled vehicle over on the shoulder, which is what penndot is looking at right now. Lets focus on drive times. 18 minutes now on 95 northbound from the vine out to woodhaven. That number has come down a lot. At one point, it was almost 40 minutes when we had that big backup. 95 southbound, though unfortunately, we have a big delay. 48 minutes from woodhaven to the vine, so leave yourself extra time if youre traveling southbound on 95. Dont forget area bridges all have speed restrictions because of the icy conditions were seeing out there. So, 35 Miles Per Hour thats what you have to keep it to this morning. Septa, wilmington newark line no service to churchmans crossing, no service to newark because of amtrak problems. A task force will make recommendations on how the school can improve Sexual Harassment and assault policies. They will review programs and conduct online surveys to gauge just how prevalent campus sex assaults have become. University of delaware is among 92 universities under investigation by the u. S. Education department for how they respond to sexual violence. Burlington Township High School is dealing with the sudden loss of two of its students. Ado halkics father says he committed suicide in the family home on new years day without warning. He was 15 years old. And then on monday his friend 18yearold michael steve, committed suicide. Those who knew him says he was distraught over his friends death. Halkics father is still searching for answers. No discussion no note that killed. Administrators at the high school say they will provide grief counseling for those who need it for as long as necessary. One western Pennsylvania School district is reviewing its food preparation practices after it served rice with bugs in it. It happened at three Elementary Schools in the west allegheny School District which is just east of pittsburgh. The brown rice had weevles in it. The bugs are commonly found in stored grain products. School officials believe the rice was contaminated before it was delivered. Today, parents can pick up their Kids Elementary School records from Walter Palmer charter school. It was closed over winter break and displaced over 600 students because it owes the philadelphia School District millions of dollars. The High School Closed back in october. A financially struggling church in Chester County held its final service last night. Parishioners gathered at st. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church in South Pottstown for an epiphany service. This morning, the churchs doors are closed. Church members are now invited to attend four other lutheran churches nearby. New this morning, a north Jersey High School that was at the center of a hazing scandal will bring football back in the fall. In Middlesex County last night, the sayreville superintendent announced that the season will resume in the fall. The High School Football season this year was canceled in october after players were accused of locker room hazing. Seven players are facing charges. The school board plans to make a decision on the future of the head coach soon. This morning we have new video, and you have to take a look at this video. This is from an officers body camera that was rolling during a violent traffic stop in new mexico. The driver of the suv shot the officer, hitting him three times. The officer is expected to make a full recovery. Police tracked down the suspect after a threeday manhunt. Hes facing a long list of charges, including attempted murder. Jury selection begins today in the trial against toyota for a deadly crash. The driver who caused the wreck claims his camry suddenly sped up in june of 06 and crashed into another car, killing three people. When reports surfaced of Toyota Camrys mysteriously accelerating, he was freed from prison. And now hes filed this suit. Toyota claims that specific car was not defective. The fbi says it will question hundreds of patients at a texas Veterans Hospital who may have witnessed yesterdays deadly shooting. Two people died including the gunman. The shooting happened yesterday afternoon at ft. Bliss in el paso. The names of the dead have not been released and theres no word yet on a motive. The clinic will be closed today as the investigation continues. Career criminals. Thats how new York City Police describe the who men arrested after an Armed Robbery and shootout with police. The officers were in plain clothes, about to end their shifts. They got a call about a deli robbery in the bronx. Both officers were shot and are in stable condition this morning. Last month, as you know two nypd officers were killed in an ambush attack in brooklyn. And Police Detectives from utah helped save a suicidal woman on the way back from the funeral of nypd officer wenjian liu. I just grabbed the pill bottle out of her hand and the note she was going to put on her lap, and it explained what she had done to kill herself. Heres the backstory. Attendants had just escorted the woman from the back of the jetblue airplane to the front next to the detectives when they took her pill bottle she pulled out a second one out of her bag, tried to take those. She then started kicking and throwing things. Detectives were able to restrain her until the flight made an Emergency Landing in chicago. And a dusting of snow is possible, not the steady snow or widespread snow we saw yesterday. But everybodys going to feel the cold thanks to the gusty winds. Theyll be steady northwesterly 15 to 25 miles an hour gusting as high as 40 this afternoon. That brings even colder air in tomorrow morning. Center city down to 9 degrees. 22 in the afternoon. Theres a possibility that pipes will freeze tomorrow. Then not as cold friday and saturday, but still in the teens friday saturday and sunday mornings. By sunday afternoon, well be up to 34 degrees. Then theres a chance well see some showers monday and tuesday. Those frigid temperatures have made for an icy commute in some areas. And bill predicted that correctly. The septa wilmington newark line, no service to churchs crossing and the rest of the line is okay and pretty close to schedule between wilmington and center city. A lot of heavy volume out there this morning. This is 76 right at belmont avenue. You can see delays in both directions. Thats the westbound side as drivers head out to conshohocken. And then venteventually out to the king of prussia area. Check out the red on route 422, the eastbound side. Heavy volume from oaks down to route 23. The french president , hollande speaking at the scene of this now, calling this a terrorist attack. He says 11 people were killed at the Magazine Office in central paris, the satirical magazine charlie hedbo. 11 People Killed 4 injured critically. 40 people, he says were saved, 40 people escaped. The two gunmen seen entering the building just before the shooting interrupted, they also escaped and police are searching for them. But again, the french president calling this a terrorist attack and saying the security level in paris has been raised to its highest level as the search continues for those two who carried out this attack in paris. Reporter im katy zachry live in fox chase, where slick spots on the roads may make to a slow morning commute. If youre sticking to the primary and secondary roads, you should be okay. Areas like Central Avenue here and then cottman avenue, which is run parallel to us seem to be fine. There is no snow pack or frozen spots. Fortunately, those roads were pretreated and have since been plowed. That is not the case for some of the smaller streets were seeing throughout philadelphia and montgomery counties. For example, right here in fox chase, you do have some slick spots. Also, on the sidewalks that werent pretreated there are some icy spots.
