Fortunately they were able to release him. We still dont have a positive i. D. On the suspect. We do have a tentative i. D. Well be releasing that later on today and his history. You said earlier we dont show up to work with the intention of shooting someone but it does happen. In 2012 you had 59officer involved shootings where 15 suspects were killed, the suspect in this situation was killed this morning. It was a year ago that you ordered the department of justice to review your use of deadly force policy for your officers. Where does that stand now . Its still under review. The numbers so far are down from last year ago 2012. We had quite a few. 13 was the fewer and so far this year were under that. The real issue is whether the shooting was justified at the time it occurred. Thats why we have to make sure we have a thorough, complete investigation. The District Attorneys Office investigates every single shooting we have in. c now that we have doj in town, they review the shooting. This one last night, the officer was fired upon. Hes lucky he wasnt killed in response to that gunfire. You know they know what theyre facing, the officers, this is in the city of philadelphia. Is there any thought about whats happening in ferguson . Obviously i think everyone in the country is watching ferguson very closely. I would hope that people would view these incidents that occur individually and not make snap judgments when it comes to determining whether or not an officer used force properly or not. But obviously were all interested in ferguson, whats going on. Hopefully things start to calm down there although it looks like its pretty active.
