Area bridges are also quiet right now. Were not reporting any problems on any of the local bridges. If you are waking up and taking 76, you can see the lines of green. Still not reporting any heavy spots of volume on 76. Your drive times between the blue route and the vine 11 to 12 minutes as you can see. We are off to a good start. In norristown, weve been following this gas leak that happened earlier this morning. Main street and swede street around 4 00, 4 30 that was all completely blocked off. The road has since reopened. But dont be surprised if you see some repair work throughout the morning. You could take lafayette street if you want to avoid it. Christine . To get around that gas leak you heard it from jillian mele. Jesse garys on the scene, too. Crews are trying to repair underground equipment that sparked a fire and that gas leak. The leak produced potentially deadly carbon monoxide. Whats happening out there now . Well there was a peco crew sitting at the end of the block at swede road and east main street. They were trying to determine where along the stretch of sidewalk this leak was located. They just left a little while ago. Were making calls to find out if theyre headed back or went to get more equipment. But once they figure out exactly where the leak is located then the crews can come back with cutting materials and begin work. The norristown fire chief says the initial 911 call came in around midnight. That was for a fire at the base of a street light. Firefighters determined equipment was burning, the resulting fire produced lethal levels of carbon monoxide. High enough to kill a person inside one of the three affected buildings. Yeah, with the 911 phone call received, was the key to making this situation a lot better. Right now than it could have been. Had that phone call not come in . We would have been dealing with a much worse problem at daybreak when the businessescjzor behind me wouldve become occupied by workers. Fire department set up large fans and vented the buildings. And now were waiting for the crew to come back and start cutting into the sidewalk. The actual leak is below ground. Theyre going to have to cut into the sidewalk to get to the heart of the problem and make repairs. Nbc 10 news. 5 33 now. This is the same Group President obama spoke to last night at the shariton society hill. Meantime inside mr. Obama talked about strengthening the middle class. He left last night Vice President biden is scheduled to speak at 10 30 this morning. Police plan to arrest a local doctor and his receptionist today. The two are accused of running a pill mill out of the Doctors Office in delaware county. Doctor Steven Friedman faces charges of writing painkiller prescriptions for people he did not examine. The arrests will cap a five month investigation by county and township law enforcement. This morning, were hearing the 911 calls from people who say they saw a Burlington County woman burning her baby girl to death. Take a listen. Is there a child there . Does she have a child with her . No its on fire on the ground on the black top. The babys on fire . Yes. Okay. Stay on the line. Some of the callers told dispatchers they were holding the woman down until police arrived. Prosecutors charged her with the murder of her newborn daughter. At one point, you could hear her in the background saying, im sorry. Well it happened two weeks ago. Investigators say she doused the baby with a flammable liquid and then set her on fire on the side of the road. 5 35 now, Chris Christie will travel to the uk. His office says its an effort to strengthen the garden states business ties abroad. Analysts say another motive could be boosting christies resume for a potential white house run. His lawyer says night accidentally ran over a friend with his pickup truck killing that man. It happened yesterday in the parking lot of a Fast Food Restaurant near los angeles. Another man was also injured. His lawyer said night was being attacked by two people and thats when he tried to escape in the truck running over his friend. The temperatures though above freezing for the i95 corridor until you hit trenton at 30 degrees. 20s north and west where the wet weather is coming down steadiest, its well above freezing. Cape may point 37 degrees, farther to the north where it mixes with snow. Its 36 in woodbine ocean view is 35. Doesnt look like its going to be sticking at all. But you will see snowflakes to start with in northfield. Temperatures right now in the 30s. But thats going to change. Behind these clouds behind this wet weather, we have gusty wind that well see this afternoon. So this morning, yes, rain drops, a few snowflakes. Youll see some off to the north and west as well those will be moving into burkes county and lehigh valley. Possibly a snow shower in philadelphia. And then the cold moves in behind us, and thats going to set the stage for rain in arizona, which keith jones is enjoying to spread across the country and arrive here as snow. The future weather. Watch how it moves across the country by saturday morning its going to be moving into the northwest into the midwest and then by early sunday morning, it will be in the ohio valley, moving into the philadelphia area during the super bowl game accumulating snowfall will begin. And it continues on monday. For today, well begin with temperatures in the 30s above freezing. But by late this afternoon, the wind kicks in and here comes the cold. From our delaware bureau, a new push to decriminalize marijuana. State lawmakers introduced a new measure yesterday that would make it a 100 fine for any delaware resident caught with up to an ounce of marijuana. That Means Nothing would go on your criminal record but selling the drug would still be a criminal offense. Philadelphia enacted a similar law last year. New this morning, Security Camera owners in new jersey may soon have to register those cameras under a measure now making its way through the state house. The state assembly passed a bill that would allow towns to establish a registry of all private outdoor surveillance cameras on homes and businesses. Lawmakers say this move would help police with criminal investigations. The bill is now going to the state senate. Also in new jersey new regulations for Police Military gear are on the way to becoming law. The state assembly unanimously approved two bills drawn up after the violence that followed the deadly shooting of an unarmed man in ferguson, missouri, in august. One requires the state attorney general to review Police Department requests for the gear. The other requires local governments to authorize purchases. Some neighbors had some mixed reviews. I think with military grade weapons and things like that its going to add more fuel to the fire. Last month, the state senate also passed the bills unanimously. Now they head to governor Chris Christies desk. 5 54 now. Cases of measles continue to spread across the country, including in arizona. Arizona Health Officials are calling on residents who have not been vaccinated against measles to do so now. So far, seven confirmed cases in the state, but about 1,000 more people may have been exposed. Experts say those cases are tied to people who came into contact with about 200 kids who were exposed to measles at the phoenix Childrens Hospital last week. Yeah measles, basically eradicated at the end of the last century, but its come back i think, basically because people arent immunizing their kids.
