Well go neighborhood by neighborhood with the future weather when im back in ten. 4 31 as we continue to follow breaking news out of delaware where a tractortrailer crash has shut down i495. A big accident there. Nbc 10s jesse gary is live on scene in wilmington. We just got new information, what can you tell us . Reporter thats right. I was talking a truckers here on the scene, they say that the driver in this crash was pulled out, he was awake and conscious, taken to christiana hospital. We are told the gentleman was talking. As for the activated scene itself, it is still under investigation. It happened on the southbound side of i495 and east 12th street. The cab of the tractortrailer wound you wanted on the northbound side and the trail erer is on the southbound side. Thats why both lanes of this freeway are closed at this hour. The truck is actually listed to j. R. F. Trucking from new castle county, delaware. Well reach out to them to try to get more information, but right now police say its one vehicle with a tractortrailer involved. The road is closed right now but theres no way to tell how long this will be there. Jillian mele has some options to get you around this accident. It will be a problem for drivers throughout delaware for a while. So 95 is going to be your easiest alternate. 495 is closed in both directions because of the accident near 12th street. As we zoom in you can see the red right here. Thats where 495 is closed off. You can see 95 running parallel in that area. This is busy during the morning rush especially for wilmington. Leave yourself extra time. But well move out a little bit so you can see we have two alternate routes you can take. 495 is closed right there. So take 95 as i just mentioned or head into new jersey and take 295. So 95 or 295, either of those would work. If youre going to be traveling locally, you dont have to use the highways which would be good news for drivers. But if you must stick to the highways, 95 and 295, this is the only serious accident well be reporting. 95 in philadelphia 76 and the blue route are all looking good. New from overnight, robbery may have been the motive for a deadly shooting in philadelphia on south paxton street around midnight. Police tell us the victim was shot several times and his wallet was found next to his body. Investigators are looking at security cameras in the area in hopes of finding the shooter. Also new from overnight in philadelphia investigators are looking for the cause of a fire at an Apartment Building in center city. It happened along south 17th and spruce streets at 1 00 this morning. Everyone inside made it out safely. And we are learning more about the alleged sex scandal in the philadelphia fire department. The firefighters and Paramedics Union will talk about the situation later this morning. The Inspector General is investigating claims that a female paramedic had sex with multiple coworkers in firehouses across philadelphia. Officials have interviewed dozens of people. As many as ten people could face disciplinary action. Happening later today in philadelphia, a judge will meet with lawyers in the case of a former homicide detective now accused of lying to fellow detectives to coverup for his girlfriend suspected of murder. Erika sanchez was charged with murder and lyon covered for her. Sanchez was covered in blood and came to dove for help. He cleaned her car and asked to have the car stowed away. Then he lied to colleagues about evidence in the murder invest. The paterno family lawsuit is heading to court. They are battling over whether the lawsuit should include breach of contract. Joe paternos son said the school verbally said they would pay him after the scandal broke. The fact that it happened at 2 40 this morning. We are already going on just about two hours that this has been out there and the cleanup still is not complete yet. We have a lot of debris from the accident scattered across the roadway in both directions. Keep that in mind to keep your alternate routes. A funeral is set for today for the driver of that suv that was hit by a train in new york. 49yearold ellen brody was killed along with five passengers on the train. A witness says brody got out of her vehicle when a Railroad Crossing gate came down on top of the suv. Then she got back in and drove onto the track about 30 seconds before impact. Federal investigators are trying to figure out why the mother of three drove onto the tracks. And theres news this morning that president obama who made an admission to end two wars is expected to ask Congress Next week for authorization to move ahead with the fight in isis in iraq and syria. Tracie potts nbc news washington. 4 47. This morning family members are facing charges after police say they kidnapped a 6yearold boy to teach him a lesson because he was too nice to strangers. Here are the the suspects including the boys mom, and aunt. According to police that coworker took the boy after he got off the school bus and told him he would never see his mommy again. Authorities say he showed the boy a gun, blindfolded him and took him to the familys home and then Officials Say that the aunt took his pants off and told him that he could be sold into sex slavery. 11 years ive been in law enforcement, ive never seen anything like this. This is no way to terrorize a child, to tell him that hes going to die. Hes 6. Police arrested all four suspects after the boy told someone at school what happened. They are locked up facing kidnapping and child abuse charges. 4 48 now. A terrifying walk to school for two young girls in trenton after they suddenly fell through a trapped door and wound up underground. Firefighters say metal doors on the sidewalk gave way as the girls were walking along southward street. The girls fell 6 feet into a basement. A crossing guard took a photo of one of the girls stuck in the basement. One girl managed to get out on her own. The bus driver stopped by to rescue the second girl. I was just thankful that i was here. Reporter but you would like this taken care of so no other child yes, they can board it up build it up do something. Cydney long was there talking to that bus driver. The girls were checked out at the hospital and will be okay. The man who owned the building along with the city are working to fix the doors. And another danger flying ice on the highways. Just ask this Montgomery County man when he was driving to work and heard an explosion of glass. Slabs of ice flew off a tractortrailer and went through the windshield of his suv yesterday. Then he said he called 911 and also said it took him 15 miles to get the trucker to pull over on the pennsylvania turnpike near king of prussia. I was looking at him and i was waving him down. He looked at me looked like he smiled, he had to see this. I guess he thought he didnt do it. State law says drivers can be fined up to 1,000 if flying ice injuries or kills someone. But lawmakers want to expand that to flying ice to cause any public danger. Anything is frozen solid this morning with temperatures plummeting. Teens and some areas in the Single Digits. Some lawmakers call christies decision a lost opportunity to create jobs and help domestic businesses. Right now several fathers in new jersey are suing the state and several judges over parenting rights. This is one of six new jersey dads claiming their parental rights were taken without a proper hearing. The lawsuit comes as the socalled Fathers Rights Movement has gained attention. A father should not have to go through this sudden and immediate separation. So far state officials have declined to comment on the lawsuit, but we have learned more fathers may be added to the group suing. Their Attorney Says their are seeking a decisive ruling about Custody Court procedure and monetary damages. And the superintendent of camden schools said the district is making progress but more work needs to be done. Over the last year and a half the district created new Parent Centers and put a New Community School coordinator into each school. But the superintendent says the next step is improving grades and graduation rates. One out of five is on the grade level in literacy and math. So we have our challenges. The superintendent also says the District Needs to work closely with families to insure their childs Education Needs are met. Happening today in Montgomery County local lawmakers will score the former Willow Grove Naval air station to get an update on a redevelopment project there. Its all part of the bipartisan effort to spur growth and development at that property in horsham. The plan is to transfer the land to the township. And starting february 15th it will cost more to visit state parks. Officials say the money will be used for upkeep. A daily visitors pass goes up 1. Ive always thought state parks are a great value for families especially when charging by the carload. The whole family can go out to spend the day.
