Joes Prep Football Team when he collapsed over the weekend. Now that school is trying to help the students cope. Doug shimell spoke to people who knew ryan. And students are planning a special tribute this week. Yes, they are. Ryan went here to the st. Denis Catholic School for several years. And when they compete in the penn relays, they will arm bands in memory of ryan. There are few answers about why Ryan Gilliard collapsed and died saturday morning. I dont know what else you can do besides bubble wrap your child and pray every day. Pray you know god has a plan. I dont know what his plan is or why this is has happened. Friends say they didnt hear ryan complain about anything before starting the spring conditioning drills for st. Josephs Prep Football Team. Doing the spring training high heat workouts. Got to be very cautious. And with each loss of a young athlete, those who know them wonder if something could have been detected. Its like a basic checkup. Height weight hair and vision. Its not really about like the internal whats going on inside. But now, it is all about remembering Ryan Gilliard the guy with the big heart who could make an audience cry with a speech act in the school play and make everybody miss him terribly. He was not only the athlete, he was the friend to these boys. I dont know what theyre going to do. Reporter well we spoke with the Philadelphia Health department which says that the medical examiners cause of death report for ryan could take as much as 6 to 8 weeks because in addition to all of the autopsy information, they must compare that with ryans complete medical history. Their most recent meeting led to a screaming match in the streets when the council met behind closed doors to officially remove her from her post. Right now, a break in the case of a womans body found in burkes county over the weekend. That of tammy joy mayfield of lancaster county. Hasnt been seen since mid march after she was treated at a hospital for doesizziness and dehydration. Her body was found in the Schuylkill River. Investigators are not sure how she died. Police trying to track down whoever set three separate fires at a bucks county church. Someone set the fire at the Resurrection Church at falls township. Firefighters found a wooden cross burning in the front yard of the church. Smashed out a bathroom window and set the room on fire. Parts of the playground outside of the church were destroyed. They brought tools with them to break that window. Theres no way to break that window with their fist or foot. They had to bring tools specifically with them to break it. And so seems premeditated. The fire marshal is asking for help tonight. If anyone saw anything or knows who is behind the crime, theyre asked to call police. From getting a drivers license to getting an education, immigrant leaders say changes need to be made in pennsylvania. Groups from across the state made the trip to harrisburg for immigrant advocacy day. They met with lawmakers to push for pro immigrant policies including access to drivers licenses raising the minimum wage and fair funding for education. Young people have hard enough time getting into college. Being charged out high tuition rates. So passing the dream act, we can make sure you know students are have somewhere to go after high school. For people in Hadden Heights, seems like yesterday. But it was 20 years ago that a person with a gun turned their neighborhood upsidedown. This morning, hundreds lined the streets of Hadden Heights to reflect on one of the most tragic events in its history. 20 years ago today, a suspect opened fire leaving two officers dead in a neighborhood under siege for some 18 hours. Cydney long is joining us live. Reporter 20 years later, this attack is still seared in the minds of this community. Reporter everyone in this small town seems to remember the exact moment where they were hearing the shots fired and hearing the sirens. And today, the loved ones families of the fallen officers laid these wreaths at the base of the town clock. Not so much concerned about their own loss but what the community gained as a result of this sacrifice. April 20th 1995. I can still to this day hear the sirens everywhere. This was the day that we lost the servicemen. The call for Leslie Nelson turned horribly tragic the transgendered nelson wanted for sexually molesting his daughter. Jack was not going to let the predator molest this or any other child. In broad daylight nelson fired multiple rounds from an ak47. Shot five times, once in the arm, once in the hand. But nothing as painful as his younger brother, patrolman John Norcross who evacuated residents before being fatally shot. He was 24. Every Police Officer from three counties would be in on our streets and in an instant maybury wasnt maybury anymore. As police from across the county came running that day, hundreds stood at attention today for the wreath laying ceremony and the dedication in honor of jon norcross and jack mclaughlin. What hasnt changed is the love kindness and gratitude this small town has for what jon and my father did that day. Many held back tears, commended heroic actions and bravery. Also the changes in Law Enforcement, Tactical Response that resulted from this tragedy. Norcross says it only struck him last week the enormity of his brothers actions. She was 10 years old at the time of the shooting and she along with her family were caught in the gunfire. I believe that my brothers legacy is the fact she now has a family of her own. Now overwhelmingly the sentiment today, these men did not give their lives in vain. Thank you, cydney. This shooting was unlike anything Law Enforcement had encountered before. And it also led to several changes. For example, their protective vests could not withstand the gunfire from an ak47. They upgraded the vests for the officers. Also joined a regional tactical teams that would serve warrants to highrisk suspects. We had quite a messy morning rush with heavy rain some localized flooding. The afternoon rush, looking pretty good. But now we have a first alert for tonight, a tornado watch until 10 00. Damaging winds and hail possible in parts of the area, as well as isolated tornadoes. The threat of heavy rain is still fairly high partly because the grounds so wet from this mornings rain. Lightning threat, rather high as well as the high winds and hail the tornado threat is always lower than these others. This is not as low as it normally is even during the thunderstorm threat. So lets watch tornado watch and not severe thunderstorm watch. The wind is coming out of the south and blowing in that warm humid air. 74 degrees, high was 76. Winds south at 10 miles an hour. Were 18 degrees warmer than we were at this time yesterday. And, of course the heat one of the reasons that were building up these thunderstorms and that watch until 10 00 tonight when the heating goes down and down and you can see the watch does not include the coastal sections because of a cooler air coming in off of the cool ocean. Now, that rain from this morning, thats going up to boston for the marathon. Now we have some showers building to the west. And this one coming in through burkes county is actually weakening as it heads toward the poconos. So we really dont have the immediate threat here. The southerly wind can farther to the north, the clash of air masses again, one of the ingredients into the severe storms. We have fairly high winds, higher levels, as well. Now, as we go through the evening here were not talking about anything too organized. So the little clusters of thunderstorms that develop, each with a potential for those gusty winds and hail. And even after 10 00 when the watch is over, were still likely to see some showers and storms, some of that rain on the heavy side as these two storms collide. Sometimes you can get even heavier rain. But its all going to be over with by tomorrow mornings rush. It is not going to be repeat of what we saw this morning. No way. Now, showers and thunderstorms tonight, some of them severe this evening, 57 degrees for the low in philadelphia, 52 north and west. As the wind shifts into the west by daybreak and starts to dry us out, that sets us up for a fairly sunny day, but pretty windy. Gusts up to 35 miles an hour. Tomorrow, high temperatures mid to upper 60s. Right around average for this time of the year. Then we have some showers on wednesday with another front coming. And after that it gets unseasonably cool. We were 81 degrees on saturday. Nowhere near that. Thursday or friday or saturday or sunday . We dont have much change. Thes going to be unseasonably cool thursday all the way into the beginning of next week. But its looking dry. After working him out last month. Brought a lot of players for private workouts. That name just obviously people look at it. But how long will tebow time last . Maybe chip just needs an extra arm for camps. Or could tim beat out matt barkley and make the team . Its really a head scratcher to me. We all know what he did as a collegiate player. All that being said his game does not project to the National Football league. Tim tebow will not be on the 53man roster because he doesnt bring enough to the table to warn him being there. Tebow has only completed 48 of his passes in his career. Espn ranks him as the lowest rated quarterback since he came into the league. Heres donovan mcnabb. I cant see him as a backup quarterback. And so i think its just news because it is tim tee bow. But i think itll die out probably after the first or second preseason game. Or maybe tim could be the best qb on chips roster to run his read option offense. Or he could use them in short yardage situations. What is the ultimate goal is you know is chip trying to do something in the culture. I think tim fits into that. Now, bigger question is does he fit into what theyre trying to do on the field .
