A project to alter the city skyline hit a bit of a snag today. The pnb was recently sold and the new owners wanted the letters taken down. Last month, the Philadelphia Historical commission gave the okay. So, today, the 16 foot tall letters were detached, hoisted and lowered to the ground by helicopter. It is iconic. Its something that ive been seeing for as long as i can remember when i look up at center city, just sort of the hub of philly. And it will be missed. Work crews said they had trouble detaching the letters fast enough. They werent able to complete the job. Only three of the 12 letters were removed. Theres no timetable for when that job will actually be completed. Heavy smoke and flames. Why investigators are now calling this fire at a former autobody shop suspicious. Plus, a scare in the air. What prompted rescue crews in a philadelphia neighborhood where an amtrak crew was working early this morning. A fire in south jersey is now being called suspicious. But, for the most part, were pretty dry. Until the middle of the week when some of this moisture comes in from the west.
