Theres an arrested warrant for him. Investigators took him into custody. He admits he was a guard during world world war ii. He says he was staged outside and had nothing to do with the killing of 1. 5 million jews there. His Attorney Says he is too frail to be many custody and that the Detention Center isnt equipped to care for him. The arrest comes after years of failed attempted by the feds to have him stripped of his american citizenship and deported. Lots of buzz today along the pennsylvania turnpike. The reason, bees. The district Attorney Says he wanted to announce the grand jury is looking into this case because it involves lawmakers. He said he wants the public to know that no one is above the law. I also just spoke to an attorney representing one of the lawmakers who is reportedly linked to this case. He said the District Attorney should not have done that. You dont try cases in the public and in the press. You try cases in the courtroom. Reporter this attorney represents louise bishop, one of the lawmakers linked to the corruption case. Its supposed to be secret. We shouldnt know about it. It should be done in secret. You dont have a press conference. Reporter senl williams announced a grand jury investigation into corruption allegations against at least four philadelphia lawmakers, including bishop. Her conduct throughout her career has been 100 honest. For her to be targeted is almost unheard of. Its hurtful. Reporter williams heard evidence that warranted the investigation. I think corruption is rampant in philadelphia. They should not be given special treatment of any kind. Reporter those opinions from the general public is why williams says he wants philadelphiians to know the case was not dropped even after the state stopped investigating. You have to believe that the jim nal Justice System is fair and that it works. Reporter the District Attorney said this is the last we will hear from him about this case until the grand jury wraps up the investigation. That could take several months. New information tonight in the murder of a Burlington County Mother Police say was killed by her own son. The 72yearold woman died from blunt trauma and compression to the chest and neck. For part of the area because of the high heat and humidity. Storms later tonight. Some could be strong at times bringing heavy rain. The heat advisory around areas near the i95 corridor until 7 00 p. The reunion for the Teenager Police say was targeted after he interrupted a burglary at his house. We were there minutess when the boy was reunited with family members. Police say the boy was coming home from school and was abducted and robbed this afternoon. We have been on that scene with investigators for hours now. Live at 5 30, nbc 10s George Spencer. What you have learned about this case . Reporter keith, just within the past 15 minutes we got a lot of information, including the fact that these robbers made off with 30,000 in cash that was kept in the home. The 15yearold boy, the son who was kidnapped, was just brought back. He is inside telling detectives about this encounter. Based on what we have learned from the family members on the scene, it seems that the 15yearold was grabbed by three robbers probably as he was walking home from school. With him as their hostage, those robbers called the boys father and mother and demanded everything of value in the familys home. When they go to the house they tied up the mother and father inside with their shoestrings and began grabbing cash, 30,000, jewelry, even the dvr system that was rolling on the home surveillance cameras. They threw the 15yearold boy into the car with them as they took off. The boys father freed himself from being tied up and chased that car for a while. Eventually, he lost it along roosevelt boulevard. Thats where he flagged down a cop along the boulevard. Eventually, the 15yearold boy was able to free himself from those robbers. That happened about 15 miles from here. He got away uninjured. Obviously, detectives on the scene are looking for a firsthand account out of him about exactly how all of this originated and perhaps why this family in this quiet neighborhood may have been targeted. A woman was shot multiple times. It happened in the 9900 block of nnectiis st anher developing sty at this hour. Millions of dollars worth of heroin had been seized in south jersey. It happened at a number of locations. Ted greenberg spoke with investigators about this operation. Live outside the prosecutors office, ted, this investigation is not over yet. Reporter it is not. This investigation is still ongoing. This probe started two months ago here in cape may county. It ended up spreading beyond its borders. It also made history. We sent sky force 10 to vineland after learning cops converged on this property and another nearby. They were searched today in a take down of a major heroin distribution ring operating in two counties. This is the largest narcotics investigation in cape may history. Reporter investigators carried out search warrants in 12 different locations today. In one authorities say, they found 7,700 bags of heroin. In addition, they say they seized the equivalent of 182,000 bags of the drug, worth more than 3. 5 million on the street. With the heroin overdose dejz that we have been experiencing throughout the southern region, i believe this is a big tool that we have to show that were fighting this epidemic. Reporter Police Arrested two alleged ring leaders along with nine alleged dealers. Prosecutors say an additional suspect in custody has connections to the International Drug trade. Hopefully, we have cut off a lot of supply. There might be depend there, but were hopeful the supply is cut off for a while. Reporter prosecutors say a handgun and 200,000 in cash were also seized. New at 5 30, prosecutors announced they do not plan to retry two men in the robbery murder of a philadelphia businessman almost two decades ago. The District Attorneys office withdrew charges. Both were 16 when they were arrested in the murder. Each served 15 years of a life sen sense before a judge threw out of convictions and ordered a retrial last fall. A district jej has dismissed rape and Sexual Assault charges against the former Montgomery County republican chairman. Robert concekerns was accused o sexually assaulting a woman. The charges were dismissed saying things were misinterpreted. He is still being charged with indecent assault. Its official, the culprits behind the damage to the bridge around wilmington, pielz of dirt dumped near the bridge. Highway officials said that dirt caused several support columns to tilt. Crews are working to create new foundations for the peers. To pay for repairs, the state will pull from the federal emergency relief fund. They hope to have lanes open by labor day. A wildwood man drowned in cape may county. Members of a dive rescue team pulled a 45yearold man from the water last night. He was swimming in a lake when he went under. Police are looking for two men in connection with a robbery and shooting yesterday. Authorities say the man in this video approached a group of people on north 7th street and fired a shot in the air. One man was hit by the bullet. The suspects took money from him before taking off in a silver suv. A construction official said an aging wall was to blame for a Building Collapse in north jersey that injured four people. They were hurt when bricks fell from a building in West New York in hudson county. The mayor heard the commotion and ran out to help. Investigators say a man approached the victim outside a club. It happened around 3 30 in the morning. He offered a ride home to the woman. She told police she passed out in the car. When she woke up, the suspect was sexually assaulting her. Lets talk about this heat. Really hotout side. You would think people would try to keep cool indoors. This is the heat index. Dover feels like 100 there. Georgetown and Atlantic City hit record high temperatures today in the 90s. 96 is what it feels like in Atlantic City. 97 in millville. In the lehigh valley, a little bit of relief compared to the rest of the area. Feeling right around 90 degrees. Feeling very hot outside. Locally, we are dry on radar. We have a lot of humidity around for part of the area. Off to the west, this is the area of thunderstorms that well be watching as we go through tonight. This Severe Threat does come along with this cluster of storms. The risk for Severe Weather does extend into parts of pennsylvania and some portions of delaware. Locally, its mostly west of philadelphia. Thats where the yellow area is. Thats the risk for severe storms, not until later tonight. For the rest of the evening, we will stay dry.
