New this morning, the driver of an suv is irs arrest after slamming into the back of a police cruiser. The crash also involved a third vehicle. It happened in the eastbound lanes of i76 at montgomery drive. Traffic was blocked until crews could clear the scene. The trooper was taken to the hospital for a minor injury. Authorities say the driver who struck the cruiser was under the influence. The search continues this morning for the shooter or shooters who ambushed two phbr ezvania state troopers, killing one and critically wounding the other. That search is now an aroundtheclock manhunt for the killer of corporal brian dixon. Heres some video we do have of him. The sevenyear veteran was killed when he and another trooper were ambushed friday night outside the barracks here in pike county. Trooper alex douglas is in critical but stable condition. Were hearing from the state police that he has undergone surgery. New york, new jersey, and pennsylvania agencies, several investigators from these different states are searching for the gunman. Corporal dixon worked in philadelphia and was transferred several months ago. I understand that many members of the community are concerned and i wish i could lessen their concern, but we have a very dangerous armed criminal that has already killed one Pennsylvania State trooper and wounded another that is not in custody, and we do not believe any particular person is specifically at risk. This attack was directed specifically at law enforcement. And the state police also tell us dixon was married, had two sons. Today, one of the victims of a possible hate crime attack in philadelphia is scheduled for surgery. The man was badly beaten on thursday night while he and his gay partner were walking in center city. Police are looking for a group of men and women who assaulted the consumer. A friend of a witness took this photo of police arriving to help the victim who was seriously hurt. Hell undergo surgery this morning for a fractured jaw and shattered cheekbones. His partner was treated at the hospital and released. In bucks county today, a Fallen Police officer will be honored on what would have been his 37th birthday. A portion of state route 263 will be named in honor of plymouth township Police Officer brad fox. The officer was killed in the line of duty in 2012. His canine partner was also shot, but survived and now lives with the family. A dedication ceremony to unveil road signs for the memorial highway will be held later this morning. That ceremony is set for 10 30 at the hartville fire company. State lawmakers will join police, family, and friends in honoring officer fox. To a developing story. Britains Prime Minister is calling the isis execution of a british worker pure evil. Prime minister David Cameron confirmed the death of david haynes who was abducted in syria last year. Flames from the silverado fire are scorching dozens of acres. Officials told about 200 homeowners to evacuate. Electricity went out in the area after flames burned down a power pole. Firefighters say theyve got about 10 of the blaze contained. Dry brush, strong winds, and record high temperatures have been fueling the flames. A city in far Northern Canada could soon be free from a trash dump fire thats been burning since may. Smoke from the dump has forced people complaining of sore throats and head aches to stay indoors. Fire crews say theyre now making progress. They expect the fire to be out by the end of the month. In tampa, florida, a wall collapse at the hard rock casino and hotel injured eight people. The skyline of germantown looks a lot different following a planned implosion this weekend.
