Police say steven rozniakowski but the suspect hasnt been able to face a judge until today because of his own injuries from that day. Well, now, were learning the injuries could have been much worse. He leaves a jail transport for his first court appearance. Have anything to say . The former Police Officer faces murder and aggravated Assault Charges for an incident that happened last december in a home home. Its been a traumatic event for her in the loss of her mom. Shes the teenager girls father. As far as im concerned, he has no morals no clout, but im not here to pass judgment. Ill leave it in the Justice System to take care of it. Let them deal with it accordingly. In court, his wife began a relationship with him when the murrows were separated. The night of the shooting murrow says he engaged in a gun battle with him. He says he fell after being shot and said, tom, kill me. Murrow was in the other room concerned about his own life. He was out of bullets and knew he had more. When he realized the intruder was reloading, he the only way he could save himself and get help was to jump out of the second story window and run to a neighbors house and call 911. The officer who rode with him in the ambulance to the hospital testified he believed he was dying and asked the officer to take care of his son. He asked for someone to take care of his children. He has children, i have children. How could you do something to another child . Reporter an officer testified he did turn over his call and service weapon. Obviously he didnt turn in every weapon he had access to because the weapon used in this homicide was registered to him. The case was held over for arraignment for next month. His attorneys had no comment on the case. We are following new developments in a pair of hitandrun investigations that are going unsolved. They need more leads to find the person responsible for killing one child and critically injuring another. Theyre still waiting to talk to the driver. Nbc 10s Deanna Durante is joining us live in center city. Youre waiting to speak with the attorney connected to the case . Reporter we are. Weve spoken with him already today. He tells us that his client is cooperating and confirms he did tell police where they could find one of the cars they were looking for. We do have a vehicle. We know for sure we have a vehicle. Its in custody and were doing dna testing of the vehicle. The car police say is this one, a black ford edge and police say its the one seen in the Surveillance Video seconds before 4yearold abdul wilson was struck and killed at 57th and litchfield monday night. An attorney tells me he contacted police and where the car could be found. And his client is cooperating with the investigation. Less than an hour after that hitandrun, another in kensington. 19yearold Josephine Rivera and her 2yearold son were hit by a car. That car is still being hunted by police tonight. Police released video from angles of the car. What we see is a car coming southbound, a white infinity, one man which would be the passenger with his arm hanging out with tattoos, but thats generic because many people have tattoos. But we definitely see two people in the vehicle. See them going south and making a righthand turn to go west on lehigh. Reporter as for the 2yearold little boy, hes listed in Critical Condition at childrens hospital. Reporting live, nbc 10 news. 20 minutes of nonstop news continuing now with this. Drugs meant for dental patients are stolen and replaced with a useless liquid. And thats not all. Take a look at what police say they confiscated from the home of the dentist in chester county. Hes accused of writing illegal prescriptions for his staff and his wife. Nbc 10s cydney long and investigators say the wife alone went through 500 pills a month . Renee, thats right. Were told those pills were hydrocodone, and the da in this case says this woman is lucky she didnt kill herself allegedly mixing those pills with fentinol behind a closed door so her children didnt know what was happening. Now, absolute oral care this medical practice her husbanddentist, it is closed. She also worked here as an anesthesiologist. They say he risked his medical career and also risks jail time. Now, for allegedly writing these illegal and fake prescriptions. Not only for his wife rebecca gretzula but also writing those scripps for office scrappers. And he explained what this all means for patients who relied on this practice. Its very clear she would have been high while she was working. In addition, she was taking the fentinol she was stealing from the practice or getting prescribed to her, and replacing that in the practice with saline solution. If you went into this practice to have what can be very painful mouth surgery, you may just have been injected with saline solutions. So you would have been in incredible pain. Businesses here reported seeing dea agents here raiding the office last week. Were told surrendered his medical license upon his arrest. And the d. A. Says hes actually the one that came forward to talk about a staffer, one of his staffers, he says was stealing the prescriptions and the d. A. Says thats how this case against him unravelled. We also stopped by the couples home in nearby malvern. Much more on this story coming up at 5 00. For now live in berwyn. Weve been telling you about problems at veteran hospitals. Now its official. It does not name anyone specific calling on the v. A. To determine who should be held responsible for it all. Check out sky force 10 over this traffic mess in Gloucester County today. A crane tipped over in Monroe Township around 10 00 this morning. Police tell us the driver hit some mud. And that caused the wheels to sink and the crane to topple. No one was hurt but we just checked about ten minutes ago, and the road is still closed while this mess is cleaned up. Weve seen how controversial red light cameras can be. Now pennsylvania is looking at another way to crack down on drivers. Some want to put cameras in work zones to protect crews working along the highway. Nbc 10s drew smith has details. Reporter approval is all theyre waiting for to deploy a pilot program. They would clock speeders in construction zones and mail citation. The idea is to protect workers like these. Yeah i think theyre in a precarious work, its dangerous but its necessary. So i think the city, the state needs to provide more protection to them. Reporter the House Transportation Committee plans to model the program after marylands. Numbers from aaa showed that state had a decline in speeding since the cameras rolled out in 2009. Many people expect any possible introduction here to be controversial. I dont want to be getting tickets without proof of what i did. Police say it should not be used as a Revenue Source and its the owner of the car who gets the ticket who may not necessarily be the driver. Theyre putting their lives at risk, the workers are. If they could iron that out, i think it would be a good idea. This comes less than a year since the turnpike worker was killed on the job in chester county. Police charged a truck driver in that case last month. In another move to protect workers, the Turnpike Commission plans to dedicate its orange squeeze campaign in his memory. This time state police wont have cameras. Instead, they plan to catch them the oldfashioned way with police cars and radar guns. Its always a good idea to get people who break the law. The chair of the state Transportation Committee tells us he expects a rigorous debate over all of this. He says tickets issued should not be used to raise money. He just wants the cameras to help keep highway workers safe. This isnt supposed to happen especially at the u. S. Capitol in washington. But just a few hours ago, a oneperson helicopter laned on the west lawn. The surprise landing touched off a lockdown. Nbc 10 correspondent stevehand ls lsman joins us live. Reporter Homeland Security officials, police u. S. Capital police understandably upset and swarmed the area when this occurred. Now theyre swarming to figure out kpaktsly how it could happen. Its a gyro coptor. Homemade perhaps. It flew in the direction, from the west side. Witnesses say it flew down the mall fairly low, just clearing the trees and headed right to the u. S. Capitol where one lawmaker says u. S. Capitol police were able to get some gunmen on a balcony prepared to shoot at the pilot if the chopper didnt land before it got to the building but it did. And witnesses say there was one officer there with a handgun drawn immediately arresting the pilot who ill talk about in a second. But warning tourists and others in the area to, quote, run, and they did. Its very disturbing. The house and senate were in session. This could have been at the white house, could have been a terrorist attack. But apparently instead, it was a political protest. Police have not revealed the name of the man theyve put under arrest. But a 60yearold florida postal worker by the name of doug hughes put up an elaborate website taking credit in advance for flying his gyrocopter here to washington, d. C. In washington, d. C. Not from florida, but in the washington area. Writing on his website, i have no violent inclinations or intent, im just delivering the mail, he said. Landing, violating the no fly zone washingtons notorious and wellknown no fly zone he said nonviolently with 535 letters strapped to the landing gear in boxes addressed to every member of congress. Hughes is apparently upset that what he calls political corruption has become the characteristic of american politics and election campaigning. He says he wants to wake up millions of people to change that. And he said he didnt believe the government would shoot down a 60yearold mailman in a flying bicycle. But he said hed rather do this and take the risk than live renee, to be 80 he said and see this country fall. Now theyll investigate hughes but perhaps more importantly, renee, of course theyre going to investigate how anybody for any reason could fly a small helicopter right to the u. S. Capitol. Thats a big deal. Back to you. Thank you from washington. To this now from nfl hero to living behind bars for the rest of his life. Aaron hernandez was found guilty today of killing a friend. The story. He was once one of the nfls brightest stars. Now former new England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez is a convicted murderer. Guilty of murder in the first degree. The jurys decision came on the seventh day of distributions after a nineweek trial in the testimony of more than 130 witnesses jurors finding hernandez killed his friend in 2013 and left his body in a vacant lot not far from his home. As the jury deliberated the verdict, hernandez shook his head and fell into a chair. His fiancee who testified earlier in the trial wept so did members of lloyds family. In her victim pact statement, lloyds mother offered her sons killer forgiveness. Though, she didnt mention hernandez by name. My baby is in my heart forever. Despite having no murder weapon, no witnesses to the shooting and offering no clear motive prosecutors were able to tie hernandez to the crime scene through cell phone records and Surveillance Videos. The fact he was a professional athlete meant nothing in the end. He is a citizen who was held accountable by the jury for his depraved conduct. Jurors said hernandez star status meant nothing during deliberations. We followed the courts orders. Assumed that the man sitting in that seat is innocent until the prosecution proves hes guilty. And thats what happened today. The 25yearold taken away in handcuffs and shackles moments after the decision was read. It ensures hernandez will die in prison pending an appeal. And hernandez has another legal battle ahead. Hes charged in the 2012 drive by shooting deaths of two men after a clash at a nightclub in boston. Hes pleaded not guilty in that case. Two years ago today, a terror attack at the Boston Marathon changed the lives of countless people. Surf isvivors and rescuers come together to mark the second anniversary of the bombing. His older brother died in a shootout with police days after the attack. To a call for justice now. This morning, dozens of demonstrators gathered in northeast philadelphia to protest police brutality. All part of a 250mile march to justice between Staten Island, new york and washington, d. C. Jacqueline london is joining us in the studio with more on the story. Jacqueline, these marchers were joined by a special guest today . They were, renee. She talked about her sons death. But he is just one of many deaths they are protesting. This little light of mine protesters formed a prayer circle before rallying together. The march to justice began monday in Staten Island where eric garner died during a confrontation last summer. Today, brandon tate browns mother and friends join the group. Tate brown was shot and killed in december. Philadelphia police pulled him over in mayfair. They say he was reaching for a gun at the time. Organizers say they want to raise awareness about policeinvolved shootings. Its not just happening in new york. Its not just happening in philadelphia. Its happening in ferguson its happening in objectionxnard, california. Happened in south carolina. We want to make sure that people are aware its not just an isolated incident. The group is using social media to get the word out. They made a stop in trenton last night and had another rally in philadelphia this afternoon. Next they will head to Lincoln University followed by baltimore. They end their march in washington, d. C. Where they will hold a large rally and concert on the National Mall next tuesday. He noticed what was hiding in the corner of the frame. Youve got steel and cement holding up trucks and cars that drive across here every day and you put boards under it . Beneath the bridge passengers have time to get a good look from the marcus hook station. But those on amtrak likely never know whats above them. Is that bridge safe . The bridge is safe. The report lists 12 maintenance recommendations. It confirms the necessity of replacing this bridge as soon as possible. Eric schaefers visual inspection was captured by his camera. What do you think about the safety of this bridge . Doesnt look like it has long for me. Penndot says the bridge is safely inspected. Once a year and inspect the planks every three months. Penndot says there are plans to replace the bridge this year but did not have a specific date for when work will start.
