A not guilty plea today from the man charged with a hit andrun accident that killed an offduty new York City Police officer. Bail is set at dislrs 100,000 for william espinol majilla. He can accused of hitting 25 yearold Vincent Harrison with his suv on the new jersey turnpike on sun. Police say majilla stopped for a moment an then drove off. The investigation revealing that offduty officer Vincent Harrison had actually gotten out of his car with his gun drawn. They say he walked up to the other driver, a 26yearold woman who had her 2yearold were in a minor accident. They say as he was backing away from her car is when he was hit by that other driver. That other hitandrun driver in court today. The attorneys saying that he will likely be out on bail. He is calling this whole incident an unfortunate accident. 35yearold william espinnal meija made his first appearance since turning himself in on monday, his attorney entering a not guilty plea in the hitand run death of offduty nypd officer Vincent Harrison early sunday morning on the turnpike. This mornings appearance was all about getting es pinnal meija out on bail. His attorney calling the incident an accident, explaining his client had no malicious intent in leaving the scene. It was just a very, very dangerous situation [ indiscernable ]. Reporter investigators say about 3 00 a. M. Sunday morning officer harrison had gotten out of his personal car during a traffic altercation with another driver, even had his weapon drawn along the turnpike when es pinnal meijas car hit him. Stopped briefly, but then drove away. He didnt stay on the roadway, he left. He didnt pull over somewhere further down and make a phone call. He didnt get off the highway and make a phone call. He didnt drive to a Police Station and make a phone call.
