The next closest, Elizabeth Warren who is 43 points back. So what about the spouses . Because thats really interesting, the families. Earlier in the week it was ann romney telling the new york times, not only mitt and i are done, but the kids are done, done, done, done. A day later, she tells the Washington Post for the time being, its a no, adding quote, honestly, well have to see what happens. But we have no plans, and i dont imagine circumstances changing. And then theres a lawsuit, and it seems that thats catching a lot of attention. Plus, were going to talk about Holiday Shopping season, which i know is very early, but it does seem to start earlier and earlier every year. Cnbcs Steve Sedgwick joins us live from london. Once again, black friday will be starting on a thursday this year. Scary. Yeah. It is scary. And its scary for the employees as well. A lot of those employees have been very critical about that. The unions saying they want to spend time with their families ahead of a very busy weekend. The evidence isnt there necessarily that these sales on thanksgiving benefit the companies. What it does is it takes away some of the sales from black friday which is traditionally a heavier shopping day. Last year, for instance, overall sales were up. They were basically categoryi categoryized. Now macys, the first retailer to do so and said it will be opening at 6 00 p. M. Last year toys r us were 5 00 p. M. Walmart and best buy were 6 00 p. M. And macys, target and kohls each at 8 00 p. M. As well. Sales are expected to be good this season. We spoke about that previously. But its just a question of where the sales are as well. Elsewhere, the converse story. This is very interesting. Nike has owned converse since 2003. And it has jealously guarded the patent of those chuck taylor allstar boots which apparently first graced the Basketball Court in 1917. And by 1966, they had 80 of the u. S. Sneaker market. Now less a percentage, but they have sold a billion pairs of these things. So now 31 companies, they say are selling knockoff versions of chuck taylor shoes. Youve got to stop doing this as well. Youre infringing on trademarks. That includes incidentally walmart as well. Theyve served about 180 of these cease and desist letters to retailer selling lookalikes over the last six years. This latest patient reported a fever yesterday, immediately isolated. They say they identified potential contacts potentially being monitored. Theres going to be a press conference about that case coming up in two hours. Again, moments ago, Health Officials confirming the Second Health care worker who treated the deceased Thomas Eric Duncan, testing positive. However, nina pham, who is the nurse who is the first confirmed case to come down with it, now in Good Condition. But were working on a live shot coming out of dallas for you coming up at the top of the hour on morning joe. And again, were going to stay on top of this story for you. We want to move on now and switch gears to a different story for you, which is a little bit lighter, and its our way too early to call special series that we had to get in for you. Im going to try to see if we can raise her this morning. Jen is very excited about this. All right. Lets see if we can get her on the phone. My next guest, shes an emmy award winner, beloved chef, tv host, owns a pet food company, a nonprofit called yummo. No wonder shes up early because she watched way too early. Rachael ray, are you there . Im here, buddy. This is so exciting. Rachael ray is on the phone lets hear it for her thats our live studio audience. Its extremely exciting. I love your tie. You look great today. Thank you so much. You are such a great woman because this summer you accepted the als bucket challenge that i threw out to you and you did it for grandma mill li, right . Yeah, my husbands grandma, millie. We lost her to that disease. My husband had lots of fun pouring many buckets of water over me, so i think he really appreciates that you gave me the challenge. No, you were such a wonderful sport. Thank you so much. We really appreciate it. So explain how the new season of rachael ray is going. I know you kicked off a few weeks ago and youve had fantastic guests so far. Were having a great time. What im most excited about, its our ninth year. And we have a really big team challenge. We have a 9 million meals challenge. Were asking our viewers to help us raise enough money and enough food to feed 9 million americans by the end of our season. So weve been doing a lot of fun stunts and crazy things trying to bring more attention to that. But thats our big goal for the whole season. And thats through yummo, which is the nonprofit that you run, correct . Yeah, and we partnered with feeding america, our friends at feeding america and no kid hungry. Its says just a great challenge. You know, it really says who we are as a tv show. And i think it reminds people, especially going into the holidays, we should all be really, really grateful for the food we have. And i think the face of hunger has changed so drastically over the last few years in the country. Everybody knows somebody. Its relatable now. Its something that i think its really doable, you know. I think were up over 500,000 already and we just started our season. So were doing well. I think it also reminds people, too, what a great human being you are and how you use your platform not only to thanks. Talk about cooking at home for their families but also about really important issues going on in the country. Lets not just talk about families and kids and what we can do to eat healthy because you also have a soft place in your heart for our little kids, our dogs and our cats. Yeah. Trish, your pet food line. Our pet food line called nutrish. Every nickel of my proceeds go to animal rescue. Thanks to a lot of great pet owners that support us, weve raised over 6. 5 million. So great. For animals in need. And we just added cat food. And the first ten months of our cat food sales this year are going to bess and howard stern and their wonderful friends at north Shore Animal League for a cagefree cat environment. Wow. Its state of the art, amazing. And were just about wrapped up with that. Theyre going to be really surprised. In a few weeks, i think im going to be giving them a very, very heavy check. Heres the special moment that we shared. We ate cat food together so show people what great quality it was. Its edible. We dove right in. We had mackerel. We shared mackerel, brother. It was good. And we bonded. And we have been uniquely tied ever since. And you are such a good sport. I know one tinge that the first lady has is her lets move campaign. I know youre uniquely tied with her as well. We ate cat food together. I love working with her, as we sit talking about our cat food. Yeah, shes just such a terrific leader. And she just makes it so simple for people to get inspired, you know. And i think that really shes hit the nail on the head. You have to get kids, and president clinton does great work with the alliance for a healthier generation as well, a movement to make our next generation healthier and to help them get off of these adult drugs and to improve their overall health, lower Childhood Obesity rates and to get kids eating healthier and their families back into the kitchen together. You know, she attacks it from every direction. She attacks it through school food program. She attacks it with challenges to get kids moving. But she really hits it on the head by empowering the kids, getting the kids excited. You know, you have to get the kids enthusiastic about it, or theyre not going to play along, you know. So its got to be a movement that talks not only to the adults and the decisionmakers and the teachers and the principals and mom and dad, but youve got to get the kids psyched, you know. And thats why i do that great show for food network, too. I know, thats so great. Youve got to get kids into the kitchen. Youve got to get kids talking about it. Healthier habits. If you get them started young, they last a lifetime. It stays with them and plant those seeds early and harvest them for a lifetime. Rachael ray, you are the best sport. Love you, buddy. Thank you for checking in with us on way too early. You can find rachael on your local listings. Rachael ray, youre the best. Thank you, my brother. Ill see you at the gym. Ill be reading along. If youre just waking up or just joining us, we want to update you on the breaking news coming out of dallas where moments ago Health Officials confirmed we do have a Second Health care worker who treated the deceased Thomas Eric Duncan, now testing positive for ebola. The facts as we know them right now, this latest patient reporting a fever yesterday was immediately isolated. Officials say they have identified potential contacts who are currently being monitored for symptoms. Now, the cdc also announced yesterday that it would deploy this team of specialists whenever a hospital confirms a case of ebola. Now, the agencys director now admits that that type of Immediate Response should have occurred initially in the city of dallas. Ive thought often about it. I wish we had put a team like this on the ground the day the patient the first patient was diagnosed. That might have prevented this infection. But we will do that from today onward with any case anywhere in the u. S. Okay. So meanwhile, nina pham who is the nurse that tested positive earlier this week after treating Thomas Eric Duncan is now listed in Good Condition. Dallas Health Care Officials are expected to hold a News Conference on this latest case coming up at 8 00 a. M. Were going to carry that live for you. I want to bring in mike barnicle. Hes been listening to this. Mike, we want to talk about this, but also with an abundance of caution, not to overhype this, but this is obviously a concern to think about this Second Health care worker coming in contact with duncan, now coming down and showing symptoms of ebola. Well, the first thing that we all ought to do, we here in the media as well as people in this country, is understand that no one is culpable for whats happened in dallas. This is a whole new procedure. The protocols of how to treat ebola patients when they come into this country, when they come into american hospitals is literally, were learning the process as we go along. When we think about the process thats happening in dallas and now how the cdc is responding, saying that this specialist, these teams should have gone in immediately to dallas now, theyre responding with that type of protocol from their operation, the other big figure thats coming out is from the World Health Organization, saying that if we dont get a control on this on an International Scale in africa, we could see the cases of infections swell by 10,000 in two months. Clearly, thats a huge issue. Its a huge issue right now only because the United States of america is carrying the principal burden of dealing with ebola patients in africa. Theres a story on the wires this morning about a parisian nurse. It took 50 hours to get her from liberia back to paris for treatment, and she came she went to paris on an american airplane that came from georgia to pick her up. Its all on us.
