So i think the notion that senator holly thinks is to speak the words, grizwald versus connecticut is to make an anticatholic claim, so strange. Though i think in a weird way, it does send up a flare and the ways in which judge barrett, who says life divisions at fertilization, seems to have problems with where life begins in terms of the conversation around roe. I think to signal that maybe contraception is in play, ivf, s gur surrogacy, and i think its a good play. Professor, we have a president who says he needs the ninth justice in over to overturn the Election Results for him if joe biden wins. He has said, we need the ninth justice to throw out the ball s ballots. This is something that has never considered in the history of confirmations, and normally what the president has said to the nominee is not part of the testimony. But it couldnt be more relevant this time. Yeah, that is certainly the case. We have never heard anything like that. We have never had a president to signal that any justice he put on the court that would be ruling in the president s favor. This is very unusual. And judge barrett knows that. We all discovered you on rachels program recently, and ive been dying to talk to you since. What is the latest state of play in getting out the vote in pennsylvania in a fair way and overcoming the Voter Suppression challenges that you have already faced . I think and thank you, lawrence, its really a pleasure to be with you. And we couldnt be on a more important topic. Youve seen the president focusing on pennsylvania, both campaigns really because this is going to be the decider of this election. The president has engaged now, his campaign has involved in multiple lawsuits against our democracy trying to come up with all types of reasons to cast doubt on the process and to make it more difficult for people to vote. But thats not really a surprise with someone like donald trump who spent his entire career engaged in frivolous litigation, and so hes engaged in litigation. Hes lying to the American People. Hes doing everything but leading in a moment when we truly need a president to lead. Now, a federal judge threw out the trump case this saturday. Is that the end of litigation as of now or is there more . Unfortunately, it is not. Theyre appealing that case yet again. And also members of the Republican Caucus are also party to lawsuits and litigation theyre trying to get heard before the u. S. Supreme court. And so were only about 21 days away from the election, and theyre doing everything in their power to disrupt the vote. And mean, it really is absurd. You know, when a president is sworn in and they take the oath of office a part of what theyre swearing to do is to protect this country. And theres nothing more central to america than our democracy. A president should be fighting to protect every single persons vote not just the people he thinks are going to vote for him. What the Trump Campaign was fighting for in that case the federal judge threw out and now appealing, is they want people to go in and become polling observers in polling places in counties where they do not live. So that could be someone from a rural pennsylvania county going into a philadelphia polling place and standing there and in some cases trying to stand there, you know, with their assault weapons observing the polling place activities. Thats what the Trump Campaign is fighting to allow. No, thats absolutely right. And a part of the reason we dont have that is because of consent decrees that the Republican Party over many years has been party to because of their intent on trying to intimidate voters. Listen, everybody wants certified poll watchers. Therell be democratic poll watchers on election day, and theres nothing wrong with republican poll watchers, but theres a process by which people can become poll watchers and to do so by using all the processes available. Not just showing up to polling places trying to create confusion and chaos. And the president is intent on doing that, and the Republican Party is happy to help him. Because his entire career has been about perpetrating frauds and scams on people, on vulnerable people. And now the latest scam is trying to commit fraud against our democracy. And i think its disgusting and disgraceful to watch so many republicans at the national and state level who are happy to help him. Are philadelphia officials, government officials ready with a plan to defend, protect philadelphia voters from people who are trying to interfere with their right to vote . Philadelphia knows how to run an election. They know how to do it fairly. What people need to do if they want to stop this madness is vote. You can vote early. Make sure you use that secrecy envelope so your ballot isnt thrown out with the ballot process which i hope people are hearing about. Every issue that faces us is not going to be solved in the oval office, so we need to make sure were electing folks at the state and local level particularly here in pennsylvania and doing everything we can. Listen, just pick a statehouse or state senate race in pennsylvania and get to work, making phone calls, doing whatever you can because this is how ware going to stop what the president is doing.
