So what is the positive alternative . I think that what you see from people like cortez and Bernie Sanders is these affirmative policies that go directly to what people need. What their material needs actually are. So when you talk to people about health care, when you talk to people about raising the minimum wage, when you talk to people about housing, as a human right, people on the ground respond. And ive seen that as ive traveled with bernie on a couple of occasions. Its workingclass people who are not hesitant at all about his message. And i think that what people want to hear is they want to hear progressives come out and say that this is not the path that we want to be on. They dont want compromise. They dont want middle of the road. And whats interesting is, in
2016, sanders wasnt necessarily given enough credit. People didnt think he could fight the fight he fought. And they didnt give progressives enough credit back then and i wonder if were going to fall into the same well this time around, as well. I think that what Bernie Sanders did is he pushed Hillary Clinton to have to go to the left, more so than she would have probably wanted to do. Right . But it wasnt enough. I think that these candidates that were seeing winning, theyre winning because they have staunch progressive messages. They are not talking about, you know, coming together and meeting in the middle. Because we cant meet in the middle with people that are so far right that theyre off the map, right . Right. So we have to come to a place where people understand, look, human rights, basic human rights, dignity, respect, those are things that matter. The democrats have a very difficult time of putting the messaging out forward, though. They are always an absolute disaster. And thats something that we need to be focused on, is what is our message. So what about, noelle, the president s threat to shut down the government, possibly a month before the midterm elections over immigration, when he is on the heels of an Immigration Debacle in this country, where
thousands of children were separated from their parents and continue to be separated from their parents, because their parents have now been deported . And i. C. E. Cant find these parents to reunite them with their children . I think its horrible. I think its horrible. But ill tell you this. Its horrible, but how is it going to resonate politically . I would just got to jump in here a little bit. Look, i agree with the idea that people on the left should not be compromising with people on the far right. These white supremacists, white
nationalists, we cant go there as a country, because its opposed to everything that we believe, quality and liberty and everything. We cannot go there. But its when we talk about meeting people in the middle and making compromise, its about making compromises with people on the center right and independents ask things like that. I dont think anybody is arguing that shouldnt be happening. Hold on, but hold on. There is something happening in this country, and pew has some Shocking Research on it, showing the parties ideologically used to be overlapping as recently as 2004. Since 2004, theyve moved, ideologically, towards the fringes and away from each other. Again, i say in only 2004 they were overlapping. This thing is happening. C. , where hes accused of money laundering, Obstruction Of Justice and violating federal lobbying laws. Charges against manafort stem from his work on behalf of prorussian ukrainian officials. Prosecutors allege that beginning in 2006, manafort hid from the u. S. Government more than 30 million in overseas income.
