Implemented to the dismay of President Trump. His latest effort to affect the leagues decision about whether players can take a knee. We begin with outrage from President Trump over actions Law Enforcement took with former Trump Campaign advisor carter page. Actions the president claims are illegal spying. Surveillance application is now public along with applications to renew the warrant for that surveillance and the president tweets, as usual, they are ridiculously heavily redacted but confirm the department of justice and fbi misled the courts. Witch hunt, rigged, a scam he c concludes. Carter page is become in the spotlight. He was on cnns state of the union today. You did advise the kremlin in 2013 or 2012, somewhere in there . Jake, its really a spin. I mean, i sat in on some meetings, but to call me an advisor i think is way over the top. Informal having some conversations with people. I mean, this is really nothing and just an attempt to distract from the real crimes that are shown in this misleading document. Well, the New York Times is one of several organizations that filed a request to see the application involving carter page. Charlie savage, a washington correspondent for the New York Times. He joins me now. Great to have you with me, charlie. I am looking at this application, the subsequent renewal applications as well. 400 pages in length here. Help us understand how extraordinary this is that you, that i, that anybody can now look at this application. Its extremely extraordinary. Its the first time in the 40 years that the National Security wiretapping has been regulated by a law called the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act enacted in 1978 after watergate and other scandals about intelligence abuses came to light. Its the first time in 40 years this kind of material has seen the light of day. Its some of the governments most closely guarded secrets. Even when people are prosecuted in court on the basis of information gathered through this kind of wiretap they are not allowed to see these kinds of applications. So its really remarkable before we even get into whats in here or what the investigation was that we are now seeing this. It all stems from President Trumps decision back in february to declassify the existence of this so that republicans on the hill could attack the investigation. Lets dig into whats in it a little bit. You look through the parts that are redacted, and a good quantity is. You see the black lines. We learned the target of this application is carter w. Page. A u. S. Person and an agent of a foreign power. Page has established relationships with russian government officials, including russian intelligence officers. Another line here, the fbi believes that page has been collaborating and conspiring with the russian government. You mentioned how all of this came about or came to the fore in february. You had dueling memos from the democrats and the republicans on the House Select Committee of intelligence thanks to the fact that the president declassified this document. What have you learned here thats different from what we knew in february . Well, a part of this, and i know this is what you want to get into with your subsequent guest is we have a basis to understand independently of the partisan crossfire what was in this application, what was true about it, what wasnt true about it. In february we had dualing memos, as you say. One from House Republicans led by devin tunious, one by the democrats. Republicans are saying the famous steele dossier was the basis of this application and the court was misled about what, you know, how credible that was, whether or not it was partisan Opposition Research or neutral information,et s information. The democrats say that was mischaracterizing what was in that material. The democrats when they had their rebuttal memo quoted some of this stuff. It was whatever team you are on, if you are an ordinary viewer, you gravitate towards that and turn off the tv at that point. Now we see the real thing, the underlying documents and we can make some assessments. I mentioned those redactions. Its useful as you look at what the government may have been learning. You have to apply for renewal of these warrants after a few months. Really we are looking at length here. There are so many parts we cant see. You look at the subsequent applications for renewal. The first 79 pages, the second 91 pages, the one after that 101 pages. What does that tell you . Again we are at a loss because we cant read the words. What does the length of those applications tell you what the government may have been learning about carter page . We have been told by people who have seen the unredacted versions who are speaking carefully because thats classified, or at least its been hinted at us, each time the government went back to ask to renew the wiretap, including two cycles when the Trump Administration was running the Justice Department, it had to tell the court twls a reason to keep going in this wiretap, we are getting useful intelligence. Therefore, lets extend it and see what else we go as opposed to we got nothing out of it and we want to extend it anyways. When we see these page numbers going up by 10, 15 pages each cycle, that suggests that, indeed, new information was being put into these each time they went back to the court and asked for an extension. There are a number of names in here, the judges who approved this application. Rose mayor col year, raymond dea russia investigati raymond deary. Help us understand the process a little better here. What went into the application and the subsequent approval of these renewal requests . When the government wants to wiretap someone not because they necessarily think he is a criminal or committing a crime, but because they think he may be an agent of a foreign power, that is for counter espionage purposes or counterterrorism purposes, they have a different set of rules and they go to a Different Court and its governed by different laws, that law i mentioned earlier, fisa from 1978. So the fbi prepares a long memo that says heres our evidence. Heres why we think is probably, doesnt to be proven, but there is a good reason to believe he might be an agent of a foreign Power Operating here in the United States but not loyal to the United States essentially. And so this long memo says heres our evidence. We present a narrative, tell our sources that there is a problem with our sources or something the judge needs to know about. They often will explain that as well. Thats one of the pieces that became contentious here. Then the Justice Department takes that and goes to the secret fisa court, which is an 11member body of regular consent and confirmed life tenured federal judges selected by the chief justice of the u s United States to sit sevenyear terms. They hear these kapgss and decides whether the legal standards have been made or not. Thats why we had four different judges who looked at this and said that the legal standards were met to go forward. Charlie, stay with me if you would. I want to take a look at the some of the claims need by the Top Republican on the House Select Committee on intelligence. That is devin nunes of california. You may remember he had to recuse himself from the russia probe. He has been very much the president s defender. He was one of the first to question the surveillance of carter page. Im sad we had to get to this point. I have an obligation to the American People when we see fisa abuse. There is no proof that the law was broken. The governments surveillance request was renewed multiple times and the approval process involved four judges appointed by republican president s. Here is another claim from congressman nunes. The director of the fbi is well aware of my concerns about mr. Page and i dont believe somebody like mr. Page should be a target of the fbi. Thats a head scratcher because the fbi believed as we learned carter page was being recruited by the russian government. In fact, a 2013 letter obtained by Time Magazine in that letter page himself bragged about being an informal advisor to the staff of the kremlin. Here is Something Else glaehe s. Lets play this. Here is trey gowdy. Everyone who reads this fisa application sees the amount of reliance they placed on this product funded by the by Hillary Clintons campaign and the dnc. What became known as the steele dossier was paid for by the conservative website the Washington Free beacon. I want to bring in geoff bennett, an nbc White House Correspondent and Glen Kirschner is a former federal prosecutor. Jeff, let me ask you how the president reacted to this. Charlie was talking about what this document offers in the way of independence, the way of sort of getting a sense outside ever the partisan lines of what happened here. What have we heard from the president today . How does it stand to change the political conversation in washington . The president rather predictably tweeted that the fisa warrant application supports his claim that the fbi investigation is rigged. In some ways we kind of expected that. We know President Trump is unbothered by partisan backlash. We know that so many of his statements and tweets are oftentimes not tethered to the facts. I was struck by the reaction from florida senator marco rubio who says he takes a different view of this. He says that the fbi in his reading of these documents did nothing wrong. I think its also worth noting that rubio sits on the Senate Intelligence committee which found uneequivalentably that they side with the rubio Intelligence Community that russia had a clear preference for donald trump and sought to influence the 2016 election. The Senate Intelligence committee is a far more serious consequential panel looking in the issue of russias election hack and attack as compared to the house Intelligence Committee led by devin nunes, even though he had to recuse himself. Glen, as we heard from charlie at the top of the show, its extraordinary to see this thing. I want to get your perspective as swb who was a federal prosecutor. What changes now . Now that we have more insight into this process, your reaction to this thing being made public . Well, david, this thing being made public i think in the short term may be good because it does sort of debunk some of what weve heard by way of the critics. But in the long run i dont know that its a good thing because these sort of methods that the government uses, and i know its a highly redacted document at this point, appropriately so, but we may actually have to go back and retool the fisa laws to sort of take into account the fact that some of these things may become public now. I can tell you in reviewing the highly redacted 400plus pages, there are a few takeaways i think we all can see from reading it. One, it seems like this really was a detailoriented, thorough, professional application for a fi fisa warrant. In my 30 years as a prosecutor its not an overestimate to say i have been involved in reviewing probably more than 1,000 search warrants and arrest warrants. The process that we go through, we work collaboratively with Law Enforcement to make sure every assertion in the warrant is accurate than we get it right because if we get it wrong, there is actually a Supreme Court case, delaware v. Franks that says if a Law Enforcement agent puts something intentionally false or misleading or omits something that would seriously undercut probable cause, there are some pretty dramatic remedies, including suppressing the evidence or dismissing a case outright. I have to tell you when i see the highly redacted document this is something that seems to have been done by the book. Importantly, they route to the judges attention the mitigating information about the reliability of the steele dossier, which is exactly in keeping with doj policy to put everything in there. The good, the bad, and the ugly so the judge has a complete picture before reaching the probable cause determination, and i think, finally, this debunks all claims that the fbi or the doj were somehow improperly motivated by presenting this fisa application to the judge. Charlie savage, weigh in on that point. I mentioned that steele dossier as i was ticking through what we have learned. They continue to bring up this dossier, the role that it played in all of this. If you look at the democratic memo that came out in february, they highlighted based on their limited reading of the document here that it was one part of this and there was frankness about how it was used. Given what you have seen today, what color, what new color do you have about the role that dossier played from this application and subsequent renewals . We can see here that indeed the dossier was in there. To the ex etent that trump and s allies have made the mere fact of the dossiers presence somehow scandalous, thats confirmed. On the other hand, if you want to dig deeper and say, well, why is it scandalous . The arguments put forward by nunes in the them owe and sean hannity in february was the court was misled. It didnt understand it was looking at Opposition Research. We can see clearly here that the fbi did inform them that this was the person who hired steele was looking for information to discredit mr. Trumps campaign but notwithstanding the reason he was hired to look into this, they thought it was credible for the following reasons. We also see that there is many pages of facts that are redacted. We doent know whats under that. Probably stuff unrelated to the dossier. We cant say for sure. We see there is another section of the facts that has nothing do with the dossier that is left undone which is about russian efforts to recruit carter page as a spy in 2013. Say that again. Such an incredible moment there. Dan coats the director of National Intelligence weighing in on that. Explaining his reaction to the news. Coats issued this statement. My admittedly awkward response was in no way meant to be disrespectful or criticize the actions of the president. Rosy gray covers the white house for the atlanta. Rosy, lets go back to that moment in aspen, 2,000 whatever miles away from washington, d. C. So there was a geographic disconnect there, sure. But what does that say to you about the way this administration is running, that the president s chief intelligence advisor was unaware that the president had woken up and decided he wanted to have another summit here with president putin . As you pointed out, its remarkable that the nations top intelligence official didnt have insight into this extremely important move the president is making, which is inviting Vladimir Putin to washington. And i think that it speaks to a longrunning trends in this administration where there isnt necessarily a lot of coordination between President Trump himself and what other government officials are doing. Heres adam schiff, the Ranking Member of the house Intelligence Committee. Lets hear what he had to say about that exchange. The talks in helsinki were productive, but they were productive for Vladimir Putin. The reality is we have no idea what this president , our president agreed to. The fact that dan coats doesnt is no failing on dan coats part. The failing is that the president hasnt even described to his own intelligence chief what he may have agreed to in that private twohour meeting. Help me understand whats happened since that summit on monday. The president flew back and was clearly faced with backlash to what happened there, including the News Conference that followed it. But normally after summits like these, meetings of two leaders, whats discussed gets trickled down through the administration to branches of the porn service. It is widely disseminated. That has not happened in this case. That certainly has not happened. I think its important to acknowledge not only did dan coats not know what was discussed immediately after that conversation. When he was talking to Andrea Mitchell, it was days later. He still had been uninformed about what had happened in the first meeting, and thats where he found out what happened in the second meeting. There is no clear agenda that has been set. An agenda he should have been involved in as the director of National Intelligence. So there are more questions than answers not just from voters and lawmakers, but from National Security officials. Rosy, you look at the comments that happened after that meeting, that summit. Folks criticizing what happened there. We have polling from the Washington Post and abc news indicating that 50 of americans who were surveyed disapproved of what happened at that summit, yet as i mentioned there is another one the president wants to have here in the fall. What is the case the president has made, the administration has made for having yet another meeting of these leaders . They talked about having working group meetings, but this is jumping pretty far ahead yet again. You know, as you pointed out, there was an enormous amount of backlash against what happened to helsinki in the days following, but that seems to have led to President Trump actually sort of doubling down on the idea of continuing to reach out to putin and deciding to invite him. I dont think its necessarily useful to think of it really as the administration doling thing versus as this is something President Trump wants to do. We have seen that disconnect with the director of National Intelligence. This is endemic within this administration, there are members left out in the cold, as it were . Yeah, i mean, its often the case that President Trump wants to sort of forge his own path on certain things and his staff are left to play catch up or sort of create policy or sort of come up with Solutions Based on what he has either like tweeted that he wants to do or said he wants to d. Eugene scott, it strikes me as ironic that the man charged with carrying this request to russia was john bolton. He has been for a long time a russia hawk, somebody critical of president putin. What do you make of that, the degree to which you have people in the administration who have toed a very different line for their careers falling in line with this president , wanting to have a seemingly close relationship with president putin . Its the latest example of how leaders of the republican are trumps party. Polling suggests that conservative voters who had more hawkish views on russia now have more favorable. According to a cbs poll earlier this week, 50 of Republican Voters believe what putin said over u. S. Intelligence. So this is something that would not have been the case beforehand. So bolton is an example of that, as are other leaders and as are the voters. Rosy, last question to you. Where do we go from here . The president tweeted this morning the summit went great. The president saying so, i guess it is, as he sees it. We saw Members Congress critical. You mentioned the back and forth over the week, the double negative thing and him trying to clarify what happened there. Has that apieced republicans who are critical of him and the way he performed in that press conference . It does appear that the response from President Trump sort of halfway walking it back at various points throughout the week does seem to have quieted down some of the criticism he was getting from fellow republicans. But this does seem to be one of those stories that has had quite a lot of sticking power, has stuck in peoples minds. Thank you very much. Up next, followup call. But it has been a long and crazy week that began with President Trump and president putins summit in helsinki. At that joint News Conference President Trump sided with president putin, not the Intelligence Community. Tuesday he said he misspoke. Wednesday he said he didnt believe russians are still targeting the United States. Thursday he asked his National Security advisor john bolton to invite president putin to washington for another summit. On that same day there was that memorable dan coats moment in aspen when the director of National Intelligence was caught seemingly unaware as my colleague Andrea Mitchell told him about that meeting coming up in the fall. Joining me is New York Times columnist michelle goldberg. Lets start with this dan coats moment. He plays a role in this entire week. Before that trip took place he was speaking at the hudson institute. He talked about bells ringing when it comes to the risks that we face, russians comparing the environment to pre9 11. Exactly. The most natural reaction we have seen in some time from a Trump Administration official to this news that the president wanted to invite president putin back. Then he walked it back, saying some press coverage has mischaracterized my response. It was in no way meant to be disrespectful or criticize the actions of the president. What do you make of his role in that walk back . He seemed to be standing up to what was a real surprise there on thursday. Nobody gets out of this administration with their dignity intact. So i think we are seeing that. It really seemed for a moment not just at the aspen security forum, but before then when he put out a statement that was diametrically opposite to what trump said when he was standing beside putin about there is no doubt about russianss interference in the 2016 election and they let it be known that had not been cleared with the white house before he put out the statement. It seemed for a moment as if this was a bridge too far and if he was ready to show some degree of frankness and maybe either let himself be pushed out or resign in principle. And i have no explanation. I kind of have no psychological way of figuring out all of these people who clearly know how unfit and potentially treasonous this president is. They know how much damage he is doing to american National Security, to americas place in the world, to the stability of the country, and yet they kind of abase themselves and maybe a lot of them are telling themselves that things will be much worse if they were gone. In the case of somebody like dan coats, maybe he is right. Although its hard from the outside to figure out how much of an influence he is having if he didnt even know putin had been invited in the first place. I want to talk about the reaction to this. I watched the press conference in real time, saw the immediate reaction, the statements that came out from republican members of congress, democratic members of congress. Something illuminating to me is immediately after the press conference the president sits down with tucker carlson, sean hannity, and watching those later what was striking was how the president left that News Conference and thought he did fine, seemingly those two fox news anchors thought the same thing. There is a disconnect between what they perceived and the rest. The word perceived, the president included. You say of all the mysteries of the trumprussia scandal is the utter civility of Congressional Republicans before a president many hate and believe to be compromised by a foreign power. There was a fleeting moment there of just a couple of hours, i guess, when you have republicans standing up to some standing up to him saying what he did was wrong, what he said criticizing the Intelligence Community was wrong js you had a similar moment after charlottesville, right . We have become awakened to the nightmare that is the trump presidency. Sometimes he reveals himself and everybody for a second has to face the utter freakishness and abnormality and shockingness that this man actually sits in and defiles the oval office. And so when that happens, you sort of see this uproar. Then republicans are usually very quick to find an excuse to tamp it down. In this case, pretending to believe it was a matter of a misplaced double negative. When he said he didnt know that will clear it up, right . Right, i dont know why it would be russia. Again i find this to be puzzling. And i even whenever i get a chance to ask republicans about it, i am so curious like about the story they are telling themselves about what they are doing at this particular moment in time because they think you go in you choose to go in politics, you choose a life of public service. I understand their ideology is different than mine. At some level they must think of themselves as patriots, they pa want to play a positive role in history. Somebody like paul ryan who laughed behind closed doors, knowingly, not because it was ridiculous, on the idea that trump was on putins payroll when Kevin Mccarty said it in 2016 in a secretly recorded conversation. He is a russia hawk and he is leaving, right . So its not as if he is going to risk his career. In fact, the only hope he has of a career comeback is if donald trump implodes and he was somehow on the right side of it. Its hard for me to understand what he is getting out of his kind of obsequious refusal to stand up for the rule of law in the russia inquiry in the house, which devolved into such a farce before shutting down all together. Then something sclikd for me this week. I dont know if its the whole story, but a couple of things. Last week with these 12 indictments of members of Russian Military intelligence, one of the most interesting details in that indictment was that a congressional candidate had contacted this fictitious p persona, guccifer 2. 0 and asked for help with their election, and had gotten research on their opponent. We learned about maria butina, this spy who infiltrated the nra and built republicans with all sorts of republicans and somehow kind of insinuated herself into trumps circles in d. C. , and it suddenly struck me some of these people i guess are covering for trump and some are covering for themselves. Thank you. The kicker, sometimes things are exactly as they seem. Lets look at the Global Reaction to what happened this week. A german diplomat describing europeans as being scared. The secretary of state had a lengthy phone call with his russian counterpart. Evelyn, let me start with you. We have dualing readouts of this phone conversation. What struck me in the one from the kremlin is moving forward on agreements made in that room. Your reaction to that . It was certainly something we didnt hear from President Trump in that News Conference or in comments he has made since. Well, david, my reaction is why are we constantly hearing from the russians first about conversations our president is having with another foreign leader . In this case, the adversary, the russian leader Vladimir Putin. You know, its appalling to me and astounding that we are getting information from them first. We also had that happen posthelsinki in the immediate aftermath where the Russian Ambassador here in washington, d. C. Also was giving us a preview of what was discussed. We still have no formal readout from the white house as far as i am aware of so, you know, this is a problem for us. And the fact that they were in that room with no one but the interpreter, the two interpreters, i guess one for each side, is also problematic. Now granted Everybody Knows that the president can verbally agree to something, but the execution for the most part has to be done by his government. So there is that reassurance, but its still troubling that whatever it was that president putin said to him, for one thing, he managed to convince him that it was acceptable to turn over americans to the russian government. I mean, our president exithibit a high degree of either ignorance or lack of understanding or actually he maybe doesnt care about american citizens in that one exchange. And there were many things that then came out of the press conference, which must have been discussed on the oneonone where our president seemed to agree and they were absolutely equally out land ilandish and g appalling. You were leading up to the summit. There was conversation about what might be discussed. There was a lot of speculation and fear about what might be agreed to. Syria was believed to be on the table here. Whats your sense of what happens next . We have heard from the state department that during that phone call they discussed syria, counterterrorism, they discussed this halfbaked plan to have a joint Cybersecurity Task force between the United States and russia. When it comes to syria what do you think the next steps are here . Well, thats the unfortunate thing is it does require a degree of cooperation between the United States and russia and several other countries in europe to be able to manage the problem in syria. It hasnt been managed phenomenally thus far, cli. It requires a degree of conversation and transparency among the allies. That is exactly the cooperation and transparency that donald trump stomped all over when he was at the nato summit. This is exactly the type of situation that requires people to be open and honest about what their military objectives are as well as what they are willing to contribute to coordinating and managing World Affairs. Donald trumps idea that he could do this all alone doesnt hold up against the reality of whats going on on the ground in places like syria where you have iran, saudi arabia. You have a syrian interest clearly. You have russian interests. You have chinese interests. This has unfortunately become a playground for World Affairs that donald trump is going into without any friends. It is a rare thing for the leader of the United States to meet with another foreign leader more than once a year. What rationale could there possibly be for these getting back together for another oneonone meeting . I dont see a rationale, david. We dont know what the agenda was. If there was a serious as far as we can tell, the agenda was Vladimir Putins agenda. Lets say the president tells his team there are a few things id like you to work on and we heard from the spokesperson Heather Nauert at the state department that there were a few modest things as she labeled them that they talked about. So the president can start getting the team working on those things. To have another meeting right on the heels of the first one when you havent even implemented whatever it was you agreed to makes no sense. Frankly speaking, its just a spectacle. Right now you have, as it is, a state department lets not forget operating without the full compliment of diplomats and support people. You have a government that is strained by the effort of planning all of these events, and then having to implement them. The secretary of state, poor man, is charged with the north korea diplomacy. The president criticizing the Federal Reserve for raising Interest Rates. Josh barrett is a Senior Editor at Business Insider and an msnbc contributor. Lets start with a piece of tape. The president sits down with my colleagues at cnbc and talks about the fed. Lets listen to what he had to say. I have a good man in the fed. I dont necessarily agree with it because hes raising Interest Rates. For years we have been losing 150 billion with the eu nations, with the european union, and they are making money easy and they air currency is falling in china. Their currency is dropping like a rock, and our currency is going up. I have to tell you it puts us at a disadvantage. Lets start with the first part of that. That centering on the fed. This is something a lot of folks dont think about day in, day out. That was extraordinary . Yeah. Why . For 25 years there has been this strong norm in the white house that the president and white house officials do not comment on monitor issues. Unspoken rule . Yes. In many cases a spoken rule. Bob ruben, treasury secretary before that, he imposed this rule. The clinton people abided by it. So did george bushs administration and the obamas. In 1992 george bush senior had been openly complaining that Interest Rates were too high, that the fed was too worried about inflaption, needed to cut rates. He was coming up to reelection, that the fed was cooling the economy unnecessarily. The fed didnt do what bush wanted. There was a sense that the fed was more reluctant to cut Interest Rates. So if the president was saying to cut rates, that made them less willing to cut rates. It may actually backfire. In the long run, if the markets perceive the fed as independent and able to pursue its mandate for price stability and low inflation, that will be good for the economy in the long run. This rule is not that old. Its a rule that came in to protect the president. So you could see that happen again here. The fed governors, they serve long terms. They have clear ideological views. They care a lot about how the markets perceive what they do. Is trump is pushing them not to raise rates, that may encourage them to raise rates. You heard the president say i put a guy in at the fed. The maperson he is complaining about is jerome powell. Trumps choigs to serve on the board. This is becoming a theme . This happens a lot in this administration, right . Things happen that the executive branch is doing and trump acts like somebody else is doing it when these are his own personnel choices. Its not obvious who trump could have picked to run the fed who would be doing what he wanted, allowing the economy to overheat. The reason the fed is raising Interest Rates, the president has just signed this big deficit finance tax cut thats stimulating the economy at a point in the Economic Cycle where you wouldnt do that. The economy is strong. If it heats, you get investment bubbles, people think that happened in the 90s. So the fed is naturally going to respond to that by raising Interest Rates to try to kind of pull back. And so powell, who is a consensus choice, respected on both sides of the aisle, run the fed for 40 years. The alternative for trump is he could have picked a name like a lot of conservative republicans would have wanted. That would be a person more inclined to raise Interest Rates. Trump auto wouwould be less hap that pole is i. He would need a crony of his who would only base rates on the president s shortterm political needs. If he was hopping for the fed not to raise rates, someone like that would be unlikely to get confirmed. Republicans who view inflation rates differently from how the president does would say we dont want someone who is going to let the economy overheat. He picked this because this was the option available to him. I think its good for the economy in the long run, but its funny. Like you said, he needs a win after the week hes had so hes going back to something that resonates with his base, that hes going after a league that he really doesnt like. And so this is lowhanging fruit for him. But the nfl needs to make a decision. Theyre not going to satisfy everybody, and theyre certainly not going to satisfy him. But now that they brought it back and put it on pause, they can come up with a sensible anthem policy that involves the players and owners. Steve tisch, the owner of the new york giants, was talking to a reporter from the Hollywood Reporter out before premier and he said hopefully, hell have much more going on that he should deal with and must deal with than worrying about what nfl players do. He has no understanding of why they take a knee or why theyre protesting. When the new season starts, i hope his priorities are not criticizing the nfl and telling owners what to do and what not to do. What do you make more broadly of his continued fixation on this issue . Steve tisch is saying there, there is a reason for this. There is a message these players want to convey and he does seem deaf to it. And he doesnt understand and im glad somebody from the nfl pushed back. There is no appeasement. He hates the nfl, because he lost to them in 86. He hates them because in 2014 he tried to buy into this league ask they didnt let him. And in january, the eagles won the super bowl and they didnt show up in june for, you know, which is a tradition, showing up to the white house. So this is a guy that keeps a score and hes keeping score with the nfl and trying to bash them. But i think he might have jumped the shark with this. How optimistic are you theyre going to come to some agreement . I guess what im asking is not you know what, a good one, but its not going to satisfy everyone. And my suggestion is they go back to when we played. The players in the locker room doing the anthem. But now since you gave this money to the deal, skra, and paid all this money, honor the wonderful men and women of our armed services, our First Responders during that time, and then have the players come out and play football. And if you come up with a policy like that, its not going to satisfy 45, but its going to take it all off the field and off the table. And then you just are back to football. And if that happened, sign Colin Kaepernick and sign eric reid. Last question. What does this mean for this protest movement. As we look to a new season, is that message again that the president seems so deaf to resonating more . What does this mean for the message of the players the polls have come out. Over 59 of the people, they know what its about, and they think its not being un. Patrioc by protesting against police brutality. And its ironic the president wants guys to stand up and he wouldnt stand up to putin last week. So thats my takeaway from it, man. And i think the message is there what the players are doing.
